So kingpin is one of my favorite movies of all time and I couldn't believe that I did not find any attempt at a homebrew before. So I thought I what start a thread about it. I am tossing around some ideas now in my head and wanted to throw them out there.

I have thought about the design and think there would be three flippers, some bowling pins and frame based mode with bowling scenes off of a right upper flipper. Inside lane and loop that dumps to the upper flipper. The ramps that I like go through the backbox and return to the flipper so flow would be important.

The design of the code would be a non linear character collection and I am a software developer so this maybe my strong suit. Kind of like guardians of the galaxy. Each character would have some modes that would need to be started. Depending on which modes are completed for each character there would be some mini wizard modes.

    Roy
Getting munsoned – need some ideas
    Pay The rent – ramps
puking scene - what is about good sex that makes me have to crap scene
selling lane oil and vending machine
    mugger mode
    Convince Ish
    Shoeing the horse
    Milking the bull
    Raising the barn

Ish - Amish philosphy - 1 1/2 times normal people 15 frame average of 270
    Collect life lessons
    urinal scene - rollovers
smoking is a stimulant scene - ramps
tattoo scene, now he cant go home
    Find The kid Multiball
    mushroom cloud of shit
    Snake Farm
    Strip Club

    Claudia
Fight with claudia - collect pops at a certain number - plays the boob punching sound and scene when pops are collected
Distract the bowlers – Ramp Shots

    Big Ern
    Big Erns Fatherless family multiball
    wash off the perfume scene
Scamming the priest scene where roy loses his hand

Completing each character scenes is first wizard mode

    Side Modes
    Kick his ass seabass
    Ohio State Championship
    Fake money roll
Making money to get to Reno
Ish messes up the grift at local bowling alley

    Wizard Modes
    TBD

    Mini Wizard mode
    collect Roy and Big Ern
    Reno Open
    Collect Claudia and Big Ern
    TBD
    Collect Claudia and Roy
    TBD

Good luck, you'll have a ball making it. I watched the film again recently and it just wasn't funny any more. Guess I've 'grown up'.

Pound for pound, there's not a better movie to burn one to

Haha. Yea i agree some of the humor is childish but its just classic slapstick from that era thats not too much in your face.

Yes. Although the scene at the beginning with the landlord may give you nightmares.

I watched it again recently for the first time in like 20 years, and I still thought it was pretty funny. I guess I'm just a kid at heart.

You mean us? Oh no, these guys were handsome.

Hey Roy, think you can get sick from drinking piss? Yeah, I think so. Even if it's your own?

I don't know what it is about good sex that makes me have to take a crap. You really jarred something loose, tiger!

    #10 3 years ago

"I've got a news flash for ya Mother Teresa, just because you spend most of your time in the missionary position, doesn't make you a missionary"

That would be a great tilt call out.

What would be the ball save?

This HAS to be on the backglass somewhere!

Maybe something about where he loses the match, but gets a check half a mil from the Trojan condoms?

What would be the ball save?

Ball save - "You put that in a bottle, you have something sweeter than Yoohoo".
Ball save - "He was robbed and you know it" (Bowling against priest)
Ball save - "Come back to me, let's try to make it work" (Earnie at Vegas buffet)

Another ball drain - "Go ahead you chicken shit, run home to mommy"

    #21 3 years ago

    Bill Murray is a genius.

    This.

Or a ball drain sound where it's just Roy screaming after the big match.

    #23 3 years ago

Honestly, could be ball save or ball drain.

    #24 3 years ago

Have a unique mystery award function. A this or that if you will. The game presents you with a random award and says, “Hi”.

You can choose that or another mystery award that you don’t know what is going to be. If you go with that the game says, “not you......Hi”

And you can have the movie clip incorporated with the selection screen.

Almost every line in this movie could be used. One of my favorites all time for sure. I'll be following this thread intently.
Take that you freaky piece of s***. You don't mow another guy's lawn.

Hey Herbie, how's life. Taken forever.

Look Mr Munster, you're not exactly the smartest guy I ever ran across.
Oh yeah? And who are you, Alfred Einstein? I use this line whenever possible.

That's a Landau roof and power steering down the drain.

Mommy. You must have a really wide foot because I think you got both of them. I lose it every time he delivers the Mommy part.

    Woody Harrelson is genius.

    This idea is genius.

Tanqueray and Tab honey, and keep 'em comin'. I got a long drive ahead of me.

Pick up the 7-10 split super jackpot.

    #29 3 years ago

Kingpin is a great idea for a pin, and I think it's still a funny movie that holds up well even today. Lots of good ideas in this thread too.

Amish multi ball where the scoring is 1 1/2 times more...

I love this idea. I was wanting to incorporate that scene from the bowling alley where he says he has a 270 average. Maybe the amish multiball will have all of the amish work scenes. Milking the bull, shoeing the horse, raising the barn.

    #32 3 years ago

Amish mode is simple extra balls.

Not yet, still gathering ideas. I do not have a home pc to start building it out and do not want to use my work pc. I am a software developer but do not have a home pc, i try not to look at a monitor after I am off work. I have an old laptop that i cant find the charging cable to, i am about to break down and by a new laptop.

Thought maybe you suffered a nasty cheese grating accident.

    A few random ideas:

    Ways to collect Ernie:
Sugar, "Maybe ze bad kids around here!"
Eat that outside, "Your butt is kind of like an about to explode bratwurst."

Tilt Warning: "Who are you calling a psycho!?"
    Tilt: "Engine blown."

So you’re a developer and you start this project without a computer? Such a Roy Munson thing to do!
