Hi all, you may already be familiar with Linolium on Pinside. He has created many custom pins including his Frozen themed pin and his amazing pinball 2000 design, "Haunted Cruise." I've actually been able to play both of those tables and boy do I have to say, they play fantastic. Anyway, Linolium and I have been working on a table of our own (off and on for the past few months). This thread will be dedicated to the production of said table (King of the Arcade).

Yesterday we were able to give the table power for the first time. Here is the video:

    Features:
    *3 flippers
    *1 diverter
    *1 Saucer
*4 Drop targets (Not yet installed)
    *1 Scoop
    *Spinner (Not yet installed)
    *1 Ramp
*4 rollover targets (Not yet installed)
    *3 Pop Bumpers
    *1 Newton ball
    *Ticket roll toy
*Centaur style ball save gate under right flipper.
    *6 Stand up targets
    *1 Center post

Nice job guys! Keep us updated on your progress.

Wow inspiring work guys! I'm starting to feel lazy with 2 playfield projects hanging around.

Will there be a shot to feed the upper flipper? Otherwise you can only feed it with a difficult orbit shot through the pops, and at high speed

    #10 8 years ago

There are 3 ways to get to the flipper; 1) left orbit (we fixed the difficulty now); 2) center loop around ramp; 3) arcade scoop (the kick out feeds the flipper)

    #11 8 years ago

    That looks awesome!

    #12 8 years ago

Ok cool. Having a kick out feed the flippers is the way to go (a la Addams family). Good progress so far. once you finalize the optimal shape of the ramps using paper/tape mockups, how do you convert them to plastic? Do you 3D scan/model?

Love that rail that comes all the way down and around past the flippers. Haven't seen that anywhere else.

Flintstones had a similar layout but plastic ramp not metal I believe. It's a tricky design because if the ball somehow loses momentum at the bottom there it could get stuck on the ramp.

RCT does it well, it also kicks the ball back up and around a top ramp if locks not lit which looks cool for a roller coaster themed game. I haven't seen it get stuck on a RCT with how steep the ramp in to it is but the more common problem is the ball coming off the rails going down the steep ramp in to that loop on that game. I really like that ramp style.

It took a little bit of play, but the ramp works fine at I believe with the table at a flat 0 degrees. we tested it at all kinds of table pitches to make sure the ball wouldn't be stuck. The part of the ramp that curves around the flippers is actually sloped. It's higher on the right then the left to guarantee a minimum forward velocity around the curved part. Also if the ball is too slow, then it will drop down at the bottom of the curve into the drain (and be kicked back out) because the wire is slanted steep enough at that spot.

veryt sweet looking layout. do wonder about the usefulness of the one way gate on the outlane drain.

Its to bounce the ball back into play. Think Centaur

Hey everybody! We have a little update video for King of the Arcade.

We tweaked some of the geometry here and there, and added a new ramp.
Check out the video for more details!

HI EVERYBODY! Mike here sharing a little vignette of the table before we make a second cut of the playfield.

So... it's been a while but the table has been worked on again! ... kinda

I started working on a ramp mold. So far I've worked about 2 hours or so on the basic form. This will take quite a bit of time, but I'm documenting the whole process unedited on youtube for anyone who cares or likes having this type of thing in the background while doing stuff.

I'll hopefully do this for the 3 Haunted Cruise ramps as well soon.
