Hello there, I own a king kool machine. When I pushed the reset button it got stuck in reset mode and will not stop attempts to reset score. Please help

Hi Danny11 , welcome to pinside.

Quoted from Danny11:

Can you be clearer? For example, do some of the score reels keep turning past zero? If so, which ones?

When I power on the game I have to press the middle button to reset the score. When I do that it does not reset score to zero instead repeats the same noise but does not prepare the game to play

1) Reading between the lines, I'm getting that you have little or no experience with EM pin repair, but you're pretty handy fixing things and would enjoy learning how to fix this. Is that right?

2) If you have the manual, in the front (probably page 3) there's a list of steps that take place during reset. How far is it getting?

3) Look inside and post photos with an arrow or your finger pointing to the parts that are making the repeating noises. I'm already pretty sure that the motor on the bottom board is turning, so verify that for me, and post photos of any other parts that are activating.

The motor is about 1/3 of the way down on the left side of this picture

Thanks for your patience you have hit the nail on the head with everything you’ve said. This game has been past down to me from parents and I have been playing for years. Just want to keep it going. Anyways, here is where the noise is coming from like it is stuck. It makes the same noise over and over.

You need to decide if you "just want to keep it going" or if you'll enjoy the process of learning how to fix it. Because if you're not going to enjoy this process then you should find someone to fix it for you.

Before you go much further, you should read these long articles and watch a few youtube videos about ElectroMechanical pinball repair

Your black arrow is pointing at the score motor, which is labelled with an M on this schematic fragment. To the right of that in the schematic fragment is a series of 8 switches, starting with "D" and ending with "Motor 1C". Most of those switches are on relays scattered around the game.

Can you find those relays? One of them isn't able to finish its job and is being held activated. Probably the Start (S) relay and maybe the Reset Control (SB) relay too, which I think is under the sheet of plastic behind the coin box in your picture.

Danny11, where are you located? Maybe one of us is nearby and can help you quickly repair the machine. Typically, the switches on/in the score reel (Decagon Units) assemblies go out of adjustment and cause what you are experiencing.

I am located in Frederick Maryland. I would greatly appreciate the help.
