What have you used that you've been happy with and what would you recommend specifically by name?

I've seen recommendations on EdCheung.com and a few other places to use a Teflon Lubricant compatible w plastic to lubricate the clock gears on TZ, both to quiet it down and add years to the assembly.

I don't want to buy something that is too messy or have to buy more than once. Thanks!

Thank you!

Years ago I hit a hobby shop and got a plastic compatible teflon lube. Works great and won't hurt anything.

I use Super Lube Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease with PTFE.

This is what I use as well. Just use a small amount on each gear. WARNING: It will make the clock so quiet that you will have a hard time telling that it is on! I lubed mine > a year ago and it's still very quiet.

Teflon is just one company's brand name for their PTFE, not the other way around.

Ditto. This stuff is great, a tiny bit goes a long way.

Super Lube has worked like a champ and really quieted the clock. A little goes a long way...

I found Super Lube at Napa auto parts. It wasn't in stock but they had it a day later from the warehouse.

Next time I have the clock out of the game, I'll do this as mine is loud. Is it possible to take the clock chassis off to get to lube the gears without changing the alignment? If you used a syringe or something?

I did this a few months ago. You really need to take it apart to get to all the gears to lube. I found this link very helpful. http://www.flippers.be/tz_clock.html
