I agree with Darcy: the kill switch looks factory-installed. I would leave it alone if it isn’t an obtrusive nuisance when installed on the door frame and works reliably when the door is closed.
If it has problems, however, I would probably (1) desolder the switch and throw it away, (2) slide some shrink tube over one end of the wire, (3) solder the ends together, (4) slide the shrink tube up to insulate the joint, (5) hit the shrink tube with a heat gun, (6) and secure the wire with a nylon clip so it is out of the way.
