Consider the hypothetical, that skit-b has been silent on the licensing issue intentionally, and not as an oversight. This could be because of a couple reasons:
1. Kevin has no licensing issues but is frustrated at the tenor and content of the forums and wants to communicate with his customers directly. If all that is happening, this thread is a waste of time.
2. Kevin has licensing issues and is trying to work them out through the appropriate legal channels (not a pinside forum). If this is the case, and we all believe Kevin has undertaken this project with the best of intentions, then any licensing issues must be deeply embarrassing miscalculation or oversight. To disclose this would likely kill public confidence and the project itself, and put a lot of people out a lot of money. Best to just let him try and fix it?
3. Kevin has licensing issues and is trying to move these machines into production on the sly. If so, our drawing attention to it will only draw him into the open and get him shut down legally. No one would get their machines, and lots of good people would be out good money.
I suspect a startup pinball company needs those deposits to get up and running, that is the whole point of taking the risk. If y logic is reasonable, the best course of action is to get out of the way and let the process take care of itself. Our search for truth, justice, and the american way is not going to help people get their machines...which should be our priority. Kevin doesn't owe anything to "possible future owners of possible future pinball machines" who demand their answers. Kevin's first priority should be to his preorder customers...and if there is a legal issue...I like the idea of a pinball manufacturing pirate who is willing to fly by night and try to get the machines out license or not. Best of luck to him!
