Quoted from Eskaybee:

Curious to hear more from avengers fans regarding that.

Agree. Some put IMDN down their list due to music/callouts and that’s been the same thing holding Avengers down my list up to now.
Again, neither are really Elwins department as both titles have fantastic layouts/rules etc.

I have owned premium IMDN and JP. I presently own a AIQ pro. All three game shot layouts are excellent. Many unique shots in each game and if one counts from one side of the play field to the other there are far more targets/ramps to shoot for than in almost any other standard witdh game. This amount and variety of shots is accomplished with out the feeling they are too tight (see Houdini) which in itself is a design advantage. So in that respect, definitely a great designer.

IMDN left the collection as it felt a little too repetitive (linear) to me and not really a fan of the music. That being said, I can see why it is so popular, just not for me.

JP left a little early as a fellow pinsider was looking for one and I let it go. Again, a tremendous amount of shots, great use of the Dino toy. great sounds. I was starting to think it also may be too linear as a code for me, but, one can easily see why it is so popular.

Just got the AIQ pro. Lots of shots, deep complex code and the pro is flow oriented. I have upgraded the back box speakers and added a shaker. Tuned down the back ground music to hear more of the games special effects. I for one like the art. I like the comic book style versus the photo shop movie style games (see original Stern Avengers). I can understand the voice call out comments. at first they sounded a bit strange (did not sound like the movie actors), but in a few days that was past. I must say I am impressed with the code so far. There is a lot going on in a speed pin ( see SW) which I like and I am constantly going back to the rules (how does that work). Normally, I am a Premium/LE owner . The pro in this title seems pretty packed and the code / speed is up my alley. May be a keeper. Time will tell.

Voted IMDN as I own a prem and after I crimped the leaf switch on the orb the only other issue I ever have is to adjust the front legs from time to time to center the auto plunge .I havnt played AIQ yet and only about 15-20 games on JP at a pincade I go to in the summer so I can’t pump my chest at all .I always liked Maidens music but Reguardless it goes with pinball very well .The artwork is fantastic on all 3 versions and to me there’s nothing like a soft plunge to left flipper up the center ramp for a bullseye 6 mil ! Never gets old .That all being said I’m praying he’s on Godzilla then Rush

Sorry should be calling it Team Elwin .The whole crew went from rookies to vets overnight .Great job dudes looking forward to the next creation !

I own the premium of all three, in my opinion:

1. Avengers
2. Jurassic Park
3. Maiden

Honestly I flip flop on Maiden and JP quite a bit. I always have a hard time getting into JP as it just isn't as immersive as the others, but it shoots insanely well. I've had my Avengers for about two weeks and to me it's the best of the three, no contest. Though the theme is also way more up my alley than the others.

#56 2 years ago

Well I got AIQ in but haven't put a ton of plays on it. Already I like the shots a lot better than JP & the rules to boot.
JP is on the bottom and pretty easy for me...we'll see how everything shakes out over time.

#57 2 years ago

For me I'm going to go this way.
AIQ
IMDN
JP2

I'm still in the honeymoon phase of owning AIQ, but man, the shots are just plain fun.

Pros and cons for me of each

AIQ - The layout is genius. There's nothing else quite like it that I can think of. I'm a big Avengers and comic-book fan, so unlike many here, that's a big plus. The music is horrendous. I mean, some of the monotonous songs grate on my nerves and rob the joy of playing. Stern, you can do much better. The rules are deep though not easy to understand, but as time goes on, I'm picking up some of the strategies, and that's making it a lot more fun to play. I think many people give up on the game before they reach this level and get stuck just opening the portal and fighting for gems. If that's all you're doing, the game is going to get stale quickly.

IMDN - I personally have always enjoyed IMDNs early music, and the Eddy theme is a win for me. The shots flow nicely, though the outlanes are brutal. I did love how each mode was unique and never felt like chopping wood. I probably would have kept it, but I needed to sell a game due to moving, and it drew the shortest straw in my collection at the time. I may get one again in the future.

JP2 - The theme does nothing for me. I can't stand the playfield art with Newman's big open mouth, and the toddler toys turned me off. However, the game shoots great, and the rules are fun. It's just not enough to get me past the downsides.

Try the upgraded code for JP. It’s a game changer when it comes to immersion!!

I have all 3 premiums as well, and rank them the same.

I currently own all three Pros although I just listed Jurassic Park for sale. For me Iron Maiden is the gold standard for Stern pros. I really like all 3 themes so judging on gameplay only my order is Maiden, AIQ, then JP, although to be fair I haven't owned AIQ nearly as long as the other two so it could still move up or down.

AIQ is hands-down the best shooting pin of all time with its latest code. Not intuitive, but that’s because the ruleset is so extensive and intense. Ignore expectations of music and call-outs tied to the MCU movies with familiar voices and theme orchestration. This is tied to the comics, and well-done with that restriction.

JP and IM trail AIQ in that order. Both are amazing in most ways, but can’t compare to the AIQ gameplay.

I played Iron Maiden Premium, Jurassic Park Pro and Avengers Infinity Quest Pro & Premium numerous times. I had room for only one more pin at my house at the time. All 3 are great games, but when it came time to making a purchase I went with the Avengers Infinity Quest Premium. The shots and flow are AMAZING. I love the artwork, call outs, clips and everything about it. Keith Elwin and his crew nailed it on this one. I’m blown away. EXCELLENT job Keith Elwin & crew & Stern.

1) Avengers Infinity Quest Premium
2) Jurassic Park
3) Iron Maiden

Can't wait to get my first (JP) had Maiden for a temporary time but not enough to say I owned it. I think these pins are so deep and nuanced the rules are what got me to buy it. Funny enough it was the rules (lack of understanding) that put me off these pins when I played them on location. It was not until just this week that I fully put the rules together from reading the rules and watching a few tutorials.

JP2 by a mile (and I've owned all of them)...and the custom A/V project takes it to the next level. Stunning.

I'm glad to see there's love for the A/V package, timlah79 and delt31 have done an incredible job. Hope you like the music selections, that was my own humble, small contribution.

This is tough!

Game wise I like IMDN more only bc AIQ is so freaking hard and the modes are too damn long.

But I absolutely love the layout and design of AIQ. Possibly one of the best designs ever.

IMDN is no slouch, and the premium really brings it! The layout is not as friendly (but just as fun) as AIQ. Let's be honest, nobody likes a shot through 3 bumpers to hit a ramp. Nobody. Buts it's a great feeling to hit it. The upper left flipper in IMDN is just ok, but it's useful. The bigger flipper is likewise.

Whereas the red flipper in AIQ is amazing. Multiple shots can be had and can help with your game. The layout is second to none really. But the damn gem battles are so. Effing. Long. Oh. My. Gosh!

Update the code and cut the battles down (can you do this in the menu?)

Game - IMDN
Design only - AIQ

P.s. JP is. It in this conversation. Waaaay down the list.

Couldn't disagree more. JP2 is a masterpiece. I liked IMDN and AIQ, but not enough to keep them in the lineup.

I've only played pros on location, but for me this is Jurassic by a mile. I like the other two, but I find Jurassic just marries layout, rules, theme, sound and more into a near perfect package. The art is a small drawback, but meh.

As I've played these all more, I've appreciated just how deep and meticulous the rules are. And how much there is to track in the screen info.

Hope to own one soon!

I know I can’t blame Elwin for this, but as much as I want to like Stern’s JP, I absolutely hate it. The lack of all assets except for Wayne Knight and the music is just dreadful. I know the game shoots great, but I just can’t get past that art package.

I voted for Infinity Quest. Fun game.

Music is dreadful? As in the iconic John Williams soundtrack?? Lack of assets on JP was always a point of contention, but given what Stern had to play with, it's incredible. Theres always the "Extra" code which includes callouts and video if its a deal breaker. Art is always subjective, personally I think AIQ looks like a paintball target.

1 JP
2 Maiden
3 AIQ

... Yet to play Godzilla but assume it'll take 1 or 2.

I have my Godzilla LE and JP premium. Overall both are fantastic pins, Godzilla still needs the code updates. I greatly prefer JP code but it’s too soon to compare because Godzilla will get better.

To me JP has a slightly better layout with more shots (and 4 ramps). It’s just amazing how many shots Keith puts in without feeling too tight. I think Godzilla has better long and loop shots and cross table shots, JP is just a little bit ‘extra’ for me.

I have literally the same setup (and maiden pro as well). I'm a huge JP fan (which is why I couldn't let that gem of a game be killed by terrible assets and therefore updated the code along with Tim!) so that puts it over Godzilla but considering what Keith was working with on Godzilla, it surprised me big time. Here is my order as of now:

JP (with our updated code of course, stern stock assets are terrible)
Godzilla
Maiden
AIQ (distant fourth - owned it twice, LE and Pro - good game but his other three blow it away).
