Quoted from JakeFAttie:

Do we know for sure that Elwin is doing a Bond version? Or is that just a rumor?
Are there any other rumors about what he's working on?
I kinda find it hard to believe he can beat godzilla, but I hope he does!!

There was an interview on Stern Insider with George Gomez where he talked a little about it, so unless he was having a joke with us Elwin did it.

Everything else is just conjecture at this point… but if you like I can make up some weird shit?

“I am hearing through the rumor mill that Elwin’s been working on a new Trailer Park Boys pin with John Greatwich!”

#453 5 months ago

“This just in: Keith Elwin said to be designing a new Resident Evil pin!”

#454 5 months ago

“I heard it through the grapevine that we will see a March release of Keith Elwin’s long-anticipated F14-killer pinball game!”

I just… no.

Alright. Too much silence. So here we go:

There will be no limited-run Elwin Bond SLE. Stern has been having a laugh with us.

It will be a one tier, unlimited run, early SS style design… and it will be pro-level pricing.

You heard it here first. (and you’re welcome)

#461 3 months ago

Is that true?

It’s all a big ruse.

I’d definitely be interested in a Elwin Bond Pro

I’m hearing 500 run.

I would love this to be true..Put the games everywhere so everyone can play and/or buy one.

You fear-monger! You harbinger of falsehoods! You messenger of misery!

#467 3 months ago

Also… this game will be the first pin they try out a new pricing approach to software/rules updating.

Don’t downvote me! I’m just the messenger!

Wanna bet a buck?
Limit to 1000 or less, give me alittle buffer.
Anymore or unlimited like you suggest then you win.

You might partly right. Bond sle will only be 500. They might recycle the same layout for another theme. Family guy and Shrek. Woo Nellie.

Please tell me you didn't actually spend $20k on that just to say you have all of Keith's games.

The first step is admitting you have a problem…

Well, I hope you enjoy it. At least I can tell from your collection you appreciate a good solid state layout.

Its true… in fact a couple years ago in this thread, I did post that I hoped this game would happen (early SS layout). Would rather it weren’t so ugly… but beggars / choosers / etc.

Quoted from Charlemagne1987:

I hope someone does Scooby-Doo but I think that’s probably best as a Spooky game. I don’t think it’s something Stern would do, but I could be wrong.

This aged well.

#477 86 days ago

I’d like to say I’m a sage, but I was just reading the tea leaves on this one. I’m glad to see I was right. I already put my deposit down on a Scooby.

#478 86 days ago
Quoted from skink91:

The last interview I heard it sounded like his next design would be a bit different from the last two, and I keep hearing 2 flippers. If both these things were true, and he had a great single-level throwback design (i.e. early SS playfield layout) worked up - Wonder Woman 1984 could check a lot of boxes for Stern.

Quoted from skink91:

Not to rehash previous posts... but I am going to rehash previous posts.
There is a lot of love for early SS games these days. An original layout with a more simplistic (but technically challenging) ruleset would be really cool to see from KME. If it was designed with tournament play in mind from the start, I feel like a lot of us would be really into that.
Of course there’s the whole less expensive cost of the BOM for a design like this (no need for design of mechanical marvels, etc.) that Uncle Gary would like as well.

Quoted from skink91:

I know this gets rehashed (and rehashed again) and I have probably been doing more than my share of it too... but an Elwin take on a widebody early SS style layout is what I would really like to see. I just feel like the possibilities with modern software-driven rulesets with one of these designs could be so full of awesome.

Am I an Elwin savant?

It's your money, no skin off my nose if you buy it, but I can't help but wonder why you're dropping twenty thousand or more (tax?) on a game that's in your words "so ugly"?

I mean, you don't play the cabinet, but for that kind of money I want to feel happy whenever I even walk by the thing.

I do view all theme/sound/video/art assets more like a bonus I suppose… and in general if the game plays/shoots well and those assets don’t annoy me (e.g. southpark) they are not as important, because they end up just being quirky personality traits of the game.

Elwin has not let me down yet (fingers still crossed on this one) and something about his shots and rulesets just click with me I guess. This has not really been the case with most modern games for me. Add some FOMO, completionist, and a healthy dose of absolute stupidity… and you arrive where I am.

That’s probably as close as a logical way to describe it?

Get ready for a lot of adjustments on scooby. Their assembly line is Bush league. I have a long list of stuff I to do someone's tna ce.

Elwin hit the ceiling with gz. I think his next one will be good but not gz good or better.

That's one reason I prefer buying a HUO owned by a person with a really nice collection. Let them sort out the bugs and adjustments, maybe add a couple mods, and then put it up for sale at a bit less than NIB.

You think GZ is the ceiling of pinball excellence?... You have no idea.

Be careful with Mr Elwin though, he's under enormous pressure to come up with the goods each and every time now. That kind of pressure can break a man.

The higher you climb, the harder you fall.

Keith makes games he wants to play. A lot of people find what he likes enjoyable. I'm sure his next game will be fun, and it doesn't matter if it "beats" Godzilla because he doesn't think about it that way, and frankly I doubt many others do either.

If I were to guess, just based on what he's said in the past, his next game will be dialed towards being slightly harder with shorter ball times, and I'm not mad at that.

That first bit (making games he likes to play) I believe is the reason I will keep buying his games, even sight unseen if need be.

That second bit (harder and shorter ball times) I hope is true. One of the main reasons I like EMs and early SS games so much better than most modern games is they are good for TGP and easier to remember what to do. You can play more games.

Lucky you did not have far to fall so you did not hurt yourself at all.

I am sure Elwin will be fine.

I don't have a crystal ball or inside dirt, but I do enjoy listening to his interviews.

He does seem to take player reaction and feedback into account. Iron Maiden was a little easier and more 90s classic rules, he responded with Jurassic Park being more of a shooter's game. Then said he heard it was a little hard so eased up for the next game.

My sense is that people find ball times on Godzilla a little long (even if enjoyable) so I wouldn't be surprised to see him tune the next game accordingly. Who knows! It's fun to speculate.

What I do know is his games being good isn't an accident; he's a smart designer, with a hard to beat combination of experience (both as a world class player but also an operator watching the public play), great instincts, and attention to detail. He's thinking about the ball speed and the little things that make everything click.

Some things said on today’s Loser Kid Podcast with Keith when mentioned his next project (note, I am paraphrasing here):
- interactions with the ramps on it took he and Harrison Drake a couple months to nail down
- 4 flippers: 2 full-size, and 3 of them on one side of the playfield (small flippers on an upper playfield perhaps?)

Yes hopefully it’s a small playfield, one the shape of a boat….for Jaws

Maybe a mini shark-fin flipper or 2? Or 2 zipper flippers?

I don't expect any one designer to cater to every taste and style. I like my Godzilla but I also have machines from Eddy, Borg, Nordman, Lawler, and Popadiuk. Elwin can do his thing and I'm probably going to like his next machine. I'm even considering picking up a Jurassic Park sometime, but once you get more than a couple of machines I feel it's useful to start thinking in terms of what each new machine will bring to the collection as a whole more than just how good that game is in a vacuum. Let Elwin be the best Elwin he can be!

I do agree that a bit shorter ball times than Godzilla is fine, but when I want to be brutalized I can always fire up my TMNT too

Ooh.... almost Road Show style...

With the way Keith has been maximizing space and variety in the upper and lower playfields, this sounds awesome.
