As I expressed on the mic, in the moment when Keith conceded, I still find his decision shocking. But it's that: HIS decision.
You can agree or disagree with it, and wonder why all you want. I, too, wanted to see him attempt a comeback of what could have been an another epic pinball moment.

The one thing I will say is this: it was NOT disrespectful to his opponent, Escher.
Simply go back and watch the VOD just after Escher finished his amazing ball 3. Keith is in the background, applauding with everyone else, and gives Escher a pat on the back as well before he goes up to the game for his concession plunge.

And after he concedes, you can observe him not stomping off in disgust. He goes back to where Escher and Adam were at for more conversation before leaving.

Watching some more of the fantastic IFPA17 VOD... and just enjoyed an infamously bad CrazyLevi commentary line during Stone's marathon F-14 (Top Gun) game: "Jeff Teolis, you can be my side-man any time." lolol

Sorry, can't let you live that one down, my friend.

    Quoted from cornycrunch:

They did leave the tiny ball save period you get when you make a skillshot on an Elwin game (and that's something that can be switched off too).

Indeed. I believe a general rule of thumb used is: did you earn your reward (in this case, some ball-save), and is it the same for everyone? If so, leave it in.
To my knowledge, on the modern Sterns, the IFPA setup crew installed Factory, then Comp Install, then Novelty (for free play and the points for EB/Special).

    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Keith needs to do a prime time interview with Oprah if he has any hope of winning back our faith and support.

Or in current times, do an interview with Jimmy Kimmel

    Quoted from trecemaneras:

I think the commentators added to the controversy by unanimously downvoting the move in the moment. It seemed like an overreaction, and amid hours and hours of great commentary I found it to be a glaring swing and a miss.

Thanks for the compliment on the commentary over that epic marathon of a match.

I stand by what I recall saying in that moment and don't deem it either an overreaction nor adding to any controversy:
    1) Shock.
    2) It was KME's choice and right to do as he pleased.
    3) I strongly disagreed with the decision -- still do. Primarily, as a competitor, I will always try to come back when I'm facing elimination. Secondarily, as someone who enjoys the competition itself, it deprived the match/event from seeing a possible awesome comeback.
