Totally agree, this is ridiculous on several fronts.
First, is Apple a better and smarter company than Stern...of course! On their worst day Apple runs business accumen circles around Stern (and this coming from a staunch Android guy).
Secondly, think of the difference in the life-cycle of the technology. If Apple waited "Stern's coming soon" to release something new, it would be obsolete at release. That said, the apparent life-cycle on pinball technology might as well be 20 years and counting, so at least their "soon" is relative to the technology cycle.

First of all - how do we know this is a real letter from Gary? Not just something fabricated to get you all riled up?
Second - if it is, it's generic legalese, saying you're likey to see updates with that cycle. That doesn't mean there's a plan to wait to the last month to release updates.
IMO, this update is likely to hit within a month or two. If it doesn't, come back and yell at me.

Enough with this, please. We can't have honest discussions about these things when people assign villainous tendencies to explain the issues. Stern exists because of customers! Of course they care about customers! Whenever I've had any problem with my games or parts, they've always sent me replacements! Others can corroborate.
It has already been explained why the Karl Urban update hasn't hit yet. It's not rocket science but he has to record it and it has to go thru the license & programming process. It will be here SOOOOON

2 Stern is treating their customers horrible.
I guarantee any other company selling high dollar items would bend over backwards for their customers.

The only way anything changes is for customers to callout a company on poor service.

A million things could happen between now and the release date, floods, polar vortexes, talent dying, programmers dying......you should at least come to terms with the possibility that you may never get an update.

I don't think stern has taken anywhere near three years to provide finished code. Now, later if they decide to go back and add something that wouldn't be the same.
vid you write numerous comments and your website status rises.
You are no more a pinball expert than the man in the moon because your status on here means nothing in the real world.

Um, you must not be very familiar with Apple .. they don't say "hey these features are coming soon to iOS" ... they announce a new version of an iOS, and when they do, it's pretty much finished and getting out of beta testing. They don't say "coming soon", and then clarify by saying it's 1-36 months. When Apple says something is coming soon, it's coming soon. Just like when they announce their new phones or tablets - they say when it's coming out, and a few weeks later, they are sold.
