I have a 1970 Williams Strike Zone that I bought a little over 30 years ago, somehow its made the travels with me from house to house over the years. The game is in beautiful shape, and its always been in a AC room (Florida is brutal on them if left in a garage). The game has pretty much been trouble free, I do some basic maintenance on it over the years (clean play field, new rubbers and balls, bulbs, etc).
I was having a issue with the 100 score reel being kind of "lazy", it would reset fine, but scoring was sloppy and would hang up; and the "up post" would make some god awful noise when the game went into game over mode, it sounded like a jack hammer. I was able to diagnose and fix the issues by searching my problems on this forum, and I can't thank everyone enough, and of course I have to thank the web owner !
The reel issue was one of the 100 score roll overs was basically stuck closed, and the up post just needed to be adjusted, the contacts were to close and for some reason when the game went into game over, one of the contacts stayed energized and was arcing and making contact. So adjusting them farther apart seems to have corrected the problem.
I'm in the middle of tearing it down and cleaning the play field and replacing bulbs and rubbers, hope to have it working well for the week of the 4th, anyways thanks again !
