Yea after seeing it, it's a good 3D candidate. Especially for the maelstrom scene. How did the smokey atmosphere translate in 3D? Wondering if it makes at any harder to see. The wife was a little put off at first with the opening scene... "why is it so blurry?!". She's used to our 4K TV in a home environment. I assured her that it was just atmosphere and it would get better when that scene was over.

I agree that women have been typecast for the most part for a very long time. The only thing I take issue with is this huge correction in one fell swoop to the modern movie business. It feels like anything with a female lead character or is deemed a female story is green lit and thrown 30-50 million dollars to be made whether it's good or not. I don't like bad movies, who ever is in them no matter what their gender.
For that matter, I'm not remotely convinced that the boys club of male led production companies in Hollywood has somehow seen the light as much as they are pandering to what they must do given the vibe in mainstream culture right now. Hopefully when things calm down, the diversity will stick and we can just get back to quality storytelling and putting out a good product.
