Kind of sad it's getting kicked in the nuts because of how divisive Last Jedi was. It's leagues better than the (for some reason really popular) Rogue One but thanks to the backlash won't come anywhere near its box office.

And it IS dying in American but a big reason they keep doing the shit conversations is because 3D is a REQUIREMENT to get approved for China.

Operating a 3D camera requires extra work for the expensive union crews on a movie. It's cheaper to hire a sweat farm in India to rotoscope after the fact.

Interesting to see how there was a peak of "real 3D" a few years after Avatar, but now it's almost all entirely fake.

Yup most modern movies are mastered at 2K for VFX. Your best bet are older movies scanned from 35mm negatives for real 4k.
