Well, with my wife telling me no, i finally did it, purchased my very first pinball machine. I played this machine when i was super young (1979 ish), and always wanted one. Anyways, i bought it for $525 dollars, and first am wondering if thats a good deal. Secondly i need all the advice i can handle as i said before i am a complete rookie at this stuff, but im ok with mechanical skills, fixing and cleaning. So first off, do you see abything wrong in the pictures that i should fix first or do? Any advice would help tremendously.

Yes it works, lights up, ball shoots out. The grotto ball return doesnt work all the time. But all and all everything works. Flickering pinscore on 2 of them. Not sure if i need to replace. As my wife said since i got it, you are seripusly addicted. Im watching you tube, reading, etc.

#7 6 years ago

Vid 1900 i read everything you wrote, helped out alot. Top of playfield is but the middle....ooohhh the middle is so chipped and terrible looking ☹. Almost dont cleaning it , but still there is dirt i just cant get off in these like ball grooves. I live in phoenix, az ...well cave creek, az menacefire.

Quoted from BlueIrocGuy:

Congrats on getting a Playboy! Fun game with cool artwork.
Search for "playboy restore" on pinside, there are a few threads on guys that fixed up their machines.
You may pick up a few ideas on what to do and how-to fix some things on your pin.
Welcome to the addiction!

Thank you, very excited and i will check it out.

Quoted from gmkalos:

Very nice score! You can clean the boards in the sink with something like simple green (no wax) and let them dry for 24 hrs before reinstalling them. I like to use a orange cleaner on the wires it seems to clean the vinyl sheathing the best. Wax that pf & get some leds in there dude!

Im getting the leds.

Quoted from vid1900:

That's fine, there will always be dirt you can't get off.
Wax and enjoy.

Vid,do i buy a new pf online? Ive been on ebay and they sell sticker like playfield. Or go to classicplayfields.com?

#37 6 years ago

sorry for all the questions but after cleaning the parts and dirt off the playfield, what wax do you use that is best and where do i get it. Like car wax? carnuba wax?

Quoted from Arcane:

For $525 you probably got the best ever deal in the history of Playboy pinballs. Period.
Your machine looks fantastic and the playfield is easy to fix.
I would pay eagerly twice that amount of money for a machine in that condition. It is simply unbelievable. Once you fix it and if you decide to resell it, you can most likely get back three to four times the price you paid.

THANKS ARCANE, I FIGURED SO MUCH WHEN I HAD TO RUSH DOWN THERE IN PERSON TO PAY THE GUY, IT WAS IN STORAGE

Quoted from jeffc:

Before I even plug a game in:
- Check line cord and plug for damage (3rd prong ok?, cord nicked?, etc)
- Download the manual
- Pull each fuse out completely and check their value vs. manual
-- you want same amperage and same slow vs. fast/"normal" speed
-- ok to have higher voltage rating than called for
- Inspect fuse holders for tarnishing/weakness/damage
- test each fuse with multimeter (or not, as any blown fuse will become obvious during gameplay)

well the cord in the back looks like a 3 prong but only has 2 prongs, I plug it in and it seems to work fine, should I get a new cord?

hey Vid sorry to bug you so much, but when it comes to the cabinet, what are your thoughts, here is no way my wife will let me bring it in the house unless it looks good, is there a place or does anyone know what kind of paint and color for the black, white and pinkish purple I need to use? ive searched everywhere and still have not found one person that has the paint that I need to use to touch up the cabinet a bit. just in the areas where it is worn down.

Quoted from cottonm4:

Here is a decal you can get to cover that rabbit.
ebay.com link » Bally Playboy Pinball Machine Playfield Insert Decals Uv Cured Inks Not Inkjet

SO I HAVE A QUESTION ON THIS, DO I SAND THE AREA AND THEN LAY THIS OVER IT, IS IT A STICKER? NOT SURE, IM A ROOKIE AT THIS STUFF.
