When we were kids, a friend and I would spend Saturday afternoons playing Flying Carpet at the bowling alley. Once you light the specials it's a real turkey shoot, and we could play forever on a quarter. Hit the rubbers on the outside of the Y and R rollovers just right--that's the shot that gets you specials.

The operator saw he was giving away too many free games, so he kept on raising the score every time he serviced the machine. Finally he switched it to 3 ball play but kept the score at maximum. He thought he had us, but he didn't realize that specials were even easier to light on 3 ball and we couldn't have cared less about points. Finally he got pissed and replaced it with a dumb Spanish Eyes. That was a sad day.

30 years later I found that machine and bought it.
