I have no words. This is truly terrible.

    Milkshake duck.

It was on his computer. It's pretty hard to accidentally have it there. I'm not saying he's guilty right now, but you don't randomly get checked by law enforcement. They show up because your ISP or someone else has noticed you trafficking things in or out that are illegal.

    This is a massive bummer.

    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I think it's fair to say we can close the book already on the 2017 "Most Restrained Thread Title" award contest.

Let's just pray that it wasn't intentional innuendo, because, uh, no.

Guys, they're not going to arrest and detain someone for having a couple of sketchy images in their browser cache. There are too many big offenders for them to chase after a minor offender. To get on the cops' radar, you need to be making noticeable waves.

Two chargeable crimes, not two files.

    Quoted from Sparky:

You two wouldn't make very good jurors.

I wouldn't want to be. But my brother-in-law is an FBI agent. He has told me a lot about how they pursue these types of cases. False arrests aren't very common when it comes to child pornography. Sometimes it's not what you think, but it's almost always something.

The definition is broad though. Someone can ask for a nude from someone they think is 18. If they send and they're really 17, you can be in trouble. That's considered possession of child porn.

Obviously it can be much worse, but they're not coming to your house with a warrant unless they have very good reason.

    Quoted from J85M:

Firstly anyone who makes a joke about any of this should just be ejected from the thread or banned from Pinside, this subject never warrants humour or jokes, yet unfortunately there is a good half dozen in this thread already.
And secondly I notice a lot of people saying they are saddened or feel sad by this news? Saddened for who or what exactly? John? The industry? Those saddened thoughts should be with the kids that have been exploited and used for the gratification of people who really don't belong in our societies?

Sad for the victims first and foremost, sad for all who it will impact, and sad that another person we admired turned out to be a milkshake duck.

    Quoted from MikeS:

From those with experience in the court system and law enforcement, how long do these cases typically take to get resolved and a verdict reached. Is it usually weeks, months, or years?

Depends on if he wants to to plead guilty or fight the charges. He could always make a deal to aid the investigation to avoid prosecution or he could waive his right to a trial entirely. You never know how it will play out until he answers to his charges and either pleads guilty or not guilty.

    Quoted from Shapeshifter:

If JT had any decency, he would resign ASAP. I know he hasn't been proven guilty yet though.

If he had any decency, he'd have a clean PC and browsing history...

The site's archives are unavailable on archive.org since they were dynamically generated at the time. I was unable to verify that the article was posted at all on that site.
If you were able to locate a cached paged, go ahead and paste the link to it.

The post is real. I remember it too, but probably not from this site. I might have seen it on Instagram or Facebook, but it was probably something I passed off as someone being bitter about an old dispute. I wish more people would have noticed and paid attention.

When Stern says that John isn't reporting to Stern, I'm assuming that means that he's avoiding communication and hasn't called into work. I understand dodging any and all communication, but despite all he's (allegedly) done, I would hope that he is only just dodging communication and that he's actually ok. If he's guilty, I'd like him to answer for his actions and pay the legal price, but we don't need any of this getting any more terrible.
