There's a difference between buying something designed by a person that you know is a pedophile, versus buying something designed by a pedophile before you know they're a pedophile.

You didn't actively support their lifestyle if you didn't know about it. And selling something you already bought when you find out after the fact doesn't make much sense to me. Especially since selling, not selling, or whatever doesn't further enrich the person in question.

Saying you will sell GB is akin, in my mind, to posting on Facebook that you support France after the Paris terror attack. Symbolic, but meaningless.

If you want to have an impact, there are real ways to do so. Selling a Pin he designed before this came out doesn't make much sense to me.

Folks are acting like playing one of these pins will in some way make the player complicit with or exposed to the influence of this dude.

Not letting a kid play one of them? I'm pretty sure there's no subliminal brainwashing going on here.

I get the revulsion to the individual, but this sort of reaction to an existing pin? I don't get it.

    Quoted from MikeS:

I don't really think that is the reasoning behind it. I think for many that collecting pinball machines is more than just playing them. Collectors also enjoy the history and stories regarding particular games as well as the people that had a part in making them. Some even arrange their line-ups so that games from a certain designer (or even artist) are grouped together.-You could have a Lawlor section where you group Earthshaker, Whirlwind, Funhouse, etc. But now with this latest revelation that history is tainted for any game JT was associated with, and the game may conjure up unpleasant thoughts when looking at the game.
Hypothetical question. Say you've lived in your house a number of years' and one day you read the newspaper and find that the person you bought the house from was just convicted of being a sex offender and molested kids in the same home that you and your family currently live in. Would you feel comfortable continuing to live there or would you move? Keep in mind it's still a perfectly fine house and the people responsible for building the house had nothing to do with it. I think that some wouldn't care but then there will be others that will put the house up for sale ASAP. You aren't complying or condoning the act by staying but yet it may be hard to block the thought of it out of your mind.

You're argument isn't well reasoned and not applicable. The pinball machine and its design were not part of the commission of a crime. You're hypothetical house is. You've applied different criteria to the objects in question.

The United States is guilty of having permitted slavery in the past. You choose to live in the United States knowing its past. So you must be ok with slavery.

These sorts of guilt by association arguments are tired and weak.

    Quoted from 27dnast:

You're lumping Penn State into a school system?

Lot of Penn State grads here, you really want to go there with that sort of sophomoric response?

You've brought Penn State up multiple times now in this thread and I've held my tounge...recall my post about guilt by association?
