Stuff like this is exactly why his life is over regardless of the outcome. If it goes to trial, all they have to do to get a conviction is show that mug shot, and guys like you will step up and say 'he wouldn't have been arrested if he wasn't guilty' and 95 percent of the jury will be ready to convict before the opening statements are done. There's no justice in that, and regardless of charges I won't support the views of anyone that says otherwise. If it gets past a grand jury, where the state has to show a compelling amount of evidence to move forward with prosecution, then there is a whole discussion to be had. Until then, you don't really know WHAT has gone on and making any assumptions isn't very wise. Even if it never goes to trial his pinball career is over. Even if it goes to trial and somehow he is judged not guilty his career in pinball is over.

I'm pretty sure her point was that illegal materials are more prolific than people care to admit. Those images that aren't clearly illegal could make their way to otherwise legal aggregation porn sites and if not flagged in a timely manner by the users... Those aggregators don't give two fucks when the money is coming in. If the 'counts' are PER Image, you don't think it's plausible that he was browsing whatever and there could be two images downloaded that might not appear illegal but actually are? Mmmkay. You know it's one thing to make an assumption if it was known 'oh hey these are six year olds' but again... Do we have that information? Do you?

Personally, even though I have a very intense dislike of Ritchie, my opinion is that people should just leave him out of this. He's not the kind of guy that strikes me as NORMALLY willing to cover up or mince things he's said previously, so the fact that he thought the post was worth deleting should say quite a lot in my opinion. I know I personally only ever delete things I've said when I feel like I've really screwed up. You can't fault the guy for having a moment of clarity and then resolving it as he saw fit.

Other than the fact that age of consent in Illinois is 17, you don't find it odd that we tell people that they're perfectly capable of making the decision to have sexual contact, which could have extremely drastic consequences on their immediate health, yet tell them that they can't make the decision to participate in photography or recording of the same?

Believe I stated in a prior post that I think the ideal solution to this paradox is for these things to be put to a nationwide standard, where both age of consent AND right to participate in video/photography of sexual acts is 100% in lockstep. Then there wouldn't be this weird ambiguous zone for people to argue over. Either it's legal or it's not, end of story. This point wouldn't even exist in most other countries, because they don't have states. Regardless of your own personal view on it, if the interaction between two people is consensual, and at the age of consent or above...who the F are you to judge? About the time anyone tries to have an intelligent conversation with them. They just open their mouth, words come out, but all that is heard is "DERP DERP DERP NO LIFE EXPERIENCE DERP DUH DERP HIPSTERY STUFF" 99% of the time. It's not attractive, to the point that I won't even actively try to be friends with people in that age range, even if there's some kind of common interest, unless they've demonstrated mental capability exceeding the typical average.
