    Holy shit.

Looks like Ghostbusters might not have been his worst crime.

    #33 1 year ago
    Quoted from Max_Badazz:

Does this mean my Ghostbusters just went up in value ....

Not sure how you'd come to that conclusion...

I think it's fair to say we can close the book already on the 2017 "Most Restrained Thread Title" award contest.

    Quoted from Quiddity:

I need more information before I tar and feather him... Two counts seems like a really small number if he's really some secret kiddie porn lover. I mean... his HD's could have 17k images and another 15k pornographic videos on them, and out of that huge number there's only TWO things that warrant him being charged over? I know, I know, 'Merica. Just seems ridiculous that someone's life is potentially going to be ruined and it could boil down to him downloading two images that he thought were legal.

    For sure.

I draw the line at 5 counts personally.

    #123 1 year ago
    Quoted from Frax:

Which is any different from exonerated people released from 30+ years of imprisonment.... How... Exactly?
Stuff like this is exactly why his life is over regardless of the outcome. If it goes to trial, all they have to do to get a conviction is show that mug shot, and guys like you will step up and say 'he wouldn't have been arrested if he wasn't guilty' and 95 percent of the jury will be ready to convict before the opening statements are done. There's no justice in that, and regardless of charges I won't support the views of anyone that says otherwise. If it gets past a grand jury, where the state has to show a compelling amount of evidence to move forward with prosecution, then there is a whole discussion to be had. Until then, you don't really know WHAT has gone on and making any assumptions isn't very wise. Even if it never goes to trial his pinball career is over. Even if it goes to trial and somehow he is judged not guilty his career in pinball is over.

Whole lot of ifs, buts, and other irrelevant word salad there frax.

Here's a non-hypothetical - JT is sitting there in the can charged with two counts of kiddie porn, which contrary to some suggestions is actually quite a lot.

We all know he's "innocent until proven guilty" but thanks for reminding us. We will all be paying attention to what happens from here on but I don't think your pseudo-legal hypothetical manifesto is gonna calm anybody down at this point.

    #157 1 year ago
    Quoted from Frax:

But sure. Insult my wife and my family, and pretend that you were too stupid to divine that on your own.

That's a real cheap shot dude. How am I supposed to know Who you are married to? I don't know a single thing about you except that you think you are as a good at pinball as Colin.

Anyway, please let me know when it's ok to "tar and feather the guy". Ill wait patiently.

    #346 1 year ago
    Quoted from PinSinner:

Bad Choices. Is that how you would describe it. Alrighty then. That has to be the biggest understatement of the year. Say a prayer for the victims and their families while you are at it.

    Seriously. Wtf?

It really is time to shut this one down until he pleads out or mounts an "it was research" defense. Enough already. This thread is going around and around in one extremely stupifying circle.

    #355 1 year ago
    Quoted from teekee:

If only people would really do this the world would be a better place...

I'll say my piece on this and get out.

We all know the man is entitled to an assumption of innoncence. Nobody is blowing anybody's minds when they say that.

We all know SOMETIMES, rarely, people accused of these crimes don't go to jail.

We all know Pete towsenend got away with a "caution" (nothing was dismissed, no proclamation of innocence was made, no "not guilt" verdict was issued, and nobody ever said "yeah, we buy the research claim.") Pete got away with something - paying for child porn with a credit card (which he admitted to doing) that would have landed most of us in the brig for a long time.

So please stop telling us over and over again how we need to wait for the facts. The facts right now is that the guy is in a lot of trouble. Maybe this will be one of the tiny percent where for whatever reason the accused doesn't end up in jail for a very long time. Or, maybe it'll turn out just like most cases like this, and he'll plead out just like my 4th grade music teacher who is doing 50 years for similar offenses.

But stop trying to sound smart by telling us he has a right to due process. We all know that. Doesn't change anything.

    #395 1 year ago
    Quoted from bobukcat:

Then I hope that if you are ever accused of anything you expect everyone to treat you the same way.

A sobering statistic for the "just sayin" and "these things often turn out to be misunderstandings" crew:

The conviction rate in U.S. child pornography possession cases is 97 percent, according to the Crimes Against Children Research Center and the Bureau of Justice Statistics.

So in other words...good luck Dr. Flash. Maybe just a misunderstanding like the countless examples we keep hearing about in this thread from all the legal experts.

    #637 1 year ago
    Quoted from kst8cat:

Why? Because in America he is innocent until proven guilty.

The legal system operates under this assumption.

Nobody here is legally required to assume anybody is innocent, and it is their right to believe anybody is guilty, unless they are placed on a jury or otherwise work within the legal system I'd suppose.

This thread is a clear demonstration of that. Free thought and speech are still allowed and constitutionally protected, unless anything has changed this morning (these days you never know). And of course, not everybody here is an American either but that's a different can of worms.

    #644 1 year ago
    Quoted from moonduckie78:

ask Pete Townshend for his thoughts on this. :/

Pete is not "innocent." He admittedly used his credit to card to access child pornography online and was disciplined for it. But hey there's also that NBA player I keep hearing about.

And Paul Rubens! I'll be the first to admit that Pee-Wee got a raw deal on that one. So yeah maybe JT is just a fan of kitschy vintage erotica and has a copy of the Rob Lowe sex tape.

    #653 1 year ago
    Quoted from moonduckie78:

I don't believe Pete was "disciplined for it". I believe he was cleared of all charges.
    Just sayin'.

Feel free to believe what you want but you are wrong. Just sayin'.

People who are "cleared of all charges" aren't placed on sex offender registries.

    #655 1 year ago
    Quoted from moonduckie78:

Perhaps you know more about the situation than I do. Just going by what I read from a Google search.

Google search harder. The word "cleared" was used by the American press, not the british legal system. He was placed on a british Sex Offender registry for five years and received an official "caution." He admitted to using his credit card to access porn. He claimed it was "research."

You can believe him or not. But it's misleading when people say he was "cleared" of the charges. He absolutely wasn't. Would be more accurate to say he got away with it. I doubt if you or I would have been as lucky in the same circumstance.

    #658 1 year ago
    Quoted from Minneapolispin:

Have any of you in the Chicago area seen this in the big newspapers or tv news stations yet? I'm sure once someone tips off the local media that this is a "high-profile" person, the story will get more attention. I can see the tv news tag now: "Shocking reports that a Chicago area man, famous for making a favorite pastime of children, arrested for pedophilia". Stern better have a fast thinking media team to react, but a small company like there's likely will get hit with a ton of bad press over this.

Stern should absolutely release a short and simple statement. "JT is suspended pending resolution of his legal issues" would absolutely suffice.

I hope somebody over there has the good sense to do this today.

    #751 1 year ago
    Quoted from vid1900:

Gary would be an idiot to draw attention from the media and have pinball look worse than it already does.
If the news breaks and the media asks Gary for a statement, you know it will be "Under advice from our attorneys, we will reserve comment until the courts have produced a ruling...."

    I would disagree strongly.

The kind of "media" that might take interest in this isn't your old school newspaper or TV news. i don't see how stern benefits from ignoring this. They are asleep at the switch if you ask me and will make "pinball look worse" by hoping it goes away. That's a gamble and one I doubt they are going to win.

I don't understand the monkey pile on steve ritchie.

Well, I do. People here are pissed that Star Wars isn't "a world under glass." People are pissed that he doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of the pinsiders who shit on him endlessly. So here's an opening to sanctimoniously dump on him. And boy are people excited at the chance to fire off some cheap shots.

Steve isn't the bad guy here. Steve isn't the guy out on bail. And the hilarious thing is people DEMANDING he "address his statement" and upset that he deleted his post - which seemed like a perfectly sensible thing to do.

"This food is terrible, and such small portions!" comes to mind.

Yeah! F the media! Fake news! Media sucks! It's their fault!!!!

Uhh wait what are we talking about again? I get lost in my own rage sometimes.

    Quoted from toyotaboy:

    Pinball news updated:
    https://www.pinballnews.com/site/2017/08/29/john-trudeau-charged/
Stern Pinball’s new Director of Marketing, Zach Sharpe, has released a statement on behalf of the company.
He told Pinball News, “It’s unfortunate that a topic such as this is my first formal communication to the community as an official voice of Stern Pinball, but we wanted to address the community about this extremely unfortunate and sensitive situation. Like the community, we are processing a litany of emotions over the allegations against John Trudeau and he is currently not reporting to Stern Pinball. Stern Pinball does not support or condone this type of alleged behavior in any capacity and will be donating to Hope For Justice, the premier charity in the fight against human trafficking.”

Excellent response and the right thing to do. I'm glad they put this out.

    #924 1 year ago
    Quoted from iceman44:

Are you finally coming around "crazy" levi?

I came around several pages ago.

You might want to ask those who thought Stern should stay quiet if they've come around.

    #1080 1 year ago

Wait...so he's innocent until proven guilty?!?!?!?!

I'm shocked. Nobody has mentioned that in this thread before.

Thanks for the reminder, things were getting out of hand in here.

    #1082 1 year ago
    Quoted from yancy:

You're welcome, Levi. Here goes again:

It doesn't matter what anyone in this thread believes. He is, in fact, presumed innocent. .

You can keep saying this but it doesn't make it true. Nobody in this thread is required to presume anything, and in fact is constitutionally guaranteed the right to presume anything they want.

    America: TASTE THE FREEDOM!!!

(sorry rest of the world who may be posting here, can't speak for you guys)

    #1086 1 year ago
    Quoted from pezpunk:

actually only the justice system must presume him innocent. human beings are free to judge the hell out of him.

This is correct. It's the exact same reason that some people are free to speculate, that maybe, just maybe, JT was on a quest for barely legal gone wrong, or he got a computer virus, or heck 2 counts of child porn really isn't THAT much, or maybe JT is a 15-year old boy who sexted his 14-year old girlfriend, or maybe he's just like Pete Towshend who was completely cleared of all charges except that he wasn't, or maybe it's like that NBA player, and he's getting a bad rap.

All of this stuff is allowed but for some reason they only thing we are supposed to take seriously is "Innocent until proven guilty!"

The only folks who need to take that seriously are those in the legal system and especially those directly involved in this case. I'd guess if this ever went to trial (it won't) then none of us would be given the opportunity to participate give our association with pinball - and thank goodness for that!

    #1091 1 year ago
    Quoted from ForceFlow:

By assuming accused persons are always guilty of whatever they are accused of says more about you than it does them.

What about if you just assume this ONE person is guilty? Are we always supposed to - in our minds - assume everybody is guilty or we are fascists? What does it say about me that when that dude plowed his car through times square and was then tackled, all of it filmed on video in real time, that I assume he's guilty?

It doesn't mean I'm hellbent on undermining human rights and in fact the American way of life, it just means I came to a subjective conclusion on that matter, outside of our legal system. For some folks, the fact that he has been arrested and his warrant says there are child porn files on his computer - which is public record - is going to be enough to come to that conclusion. For some it won't be.

That's all completely fair. But people who keep trying to "innocent until proven guilty" folks into submission are off the mark. In my opinion. Which I hope is still allowed around here.

    Quoted from Manimal:

My comment was more about how fascinating this all is to me as an observer. I was't trying to discuss guilt or innocence

That's cool. Frankly I'm not either. But I don't like people trying to shut down discussion with one sentence which is why I'm pointing this out. Perhaps if I had used cars to illustrate my point...

    #1111 1 year ago
    Quoted from snyper2099:

It means you can believe whatever you want to believe. Peoples actions are what people judge, not their beliefs. The guy driving could have had a medical emergency and passed out. Happens every day. It actually happened to me 12 years ago. People don't realize how refined our legal system is until you are standing in a court of law and are presented with things like "intent" and "motive". Most people you ask standing on the sidewalk will not know the difference between a 3rd degree and 4th degree felony, unless they have been charged with one or, they were hit by that vehicle.

he was having a medical emergency alright! Either that or he really doesn't like Swatch.

    Quoted from snyper2099:

It sure is hard to tell he was a U.S. Navy veteran from that photo. Maybe we should take better care of our vets and listen to them when they say they need help.

Good point. Is JT a vet?

    #1119 1 year ago
    Quoted from Tucks:

Wow 23 pages of posts? Talk of WWII & Hitler. This is bizarre indeed. I'm only still reading because I can't believe people are still posting (which is stupid I know).

I only read Penthouse for the political commentary.

It might be confirmation bias, but I'm pretty sure I saw an uptick of JT pins for sale in my facebook for sale groups.

Me too. But also an uptick of prices.

Ain't nobody trying to sell their JT pins. I don't think I've seen a single
Reasonable asking price on one this week.

    Quoted from RustyLizard:

Seems that the enforced rule is you can say just about anything as long as you are denying the existence of a higher being. Please enforce the rules across the board.

There also a rule about criticizing the mods.

Let's face it everybody here gets away with stuff now and again.

This is a song lyric thread now?

Here's another one about a misunderstood gentleman, by ray Davies!

    Sunday afternoon there's something special
    It's just like another world
Jogging in the park is my excuse
To look at all the little girls
I'm not a flasher in a rain coat,
I'm not a dirty old man,
I'm not gonna snatch you from your mother,
    I'm an art lover
    Come to daddy,
    Ah, come to daddy,
    Come to daddy
Pretty little legs, I want to draw them,
    Like a Degas ballerina
    Pure white skin, like porcelain,
She's a work of art and I should know
    I'm an art lover
    Come to daddy,
And I'll give you some spangles
    Little girl don't notice me
    Watching as she innocently plays
She can't see me staring at her
    Because I'm always wearing shades
She feeds the ducks, looks at the flowers
I follow her around for hours and hours
I'd take her home, but that could never be,
    She's just a substitute
For what's been taken from me
Ah, come to daddy, come on
    Sunday afternoon can't last forever,
Wish I could take you home
So, come on, give us a smile
Before you vanish out of view
    I've learned to appreciate you
    The way art lovers do,
And I only want to look at you

He had a reputation for designing and completing games very quickly.

His games are mostly terrible so this does not surprise me at all.
