makes me wonder if this was legit situation, or if he had stuff on there that just looked like it. There is plenty of sites with chics in their 20's but try to look like they are 15. When I my web filter job, it was my job to find and track all that stuff, and there was a bunch you would swear were 13-15 range. Then you find out later from other sites, that they are internet queens that have their own sites and actually 20 years old. Wonder what triggered his investigation?

    Quoted from Quiddity:

I need more information before I tar and feather him... Two counts seems like a really small number if he's really some secret kiddie porn lover. I mean... his HD's could have 17k images and another 15k pornographic videos on them, and out of that huge number there's only TWO things that warrant him being charged over? I know, I know, 'Merica. Just seems ridiculous that someone's life is potentially going to be ruined and it could boil down to him downloading two images that he thought were legal.

exactly. That was the point of my statement. I think until everyone knows the details (which we probably won't). Nobody knows what the true story is. There are plenty of viruses that can install and download shit. He could have been looking at just normal everyday porn, and one of those pop boxes shows up. has the download button looking like the X in the corner. Now you just downloaded and installed a bunch of porn pics all hidden in your harddrive. 2 accounts seems extremely small. I'm not going to judge until I know more about the situation.

It's kind of like the sex offender register. Everyone is lumped into one big pot and labeled as such. But there is a big difference between the 30 year old after 10 year olds, and a 18 year old with a 16 year old girlfriend. Unfortunately they are put into the same category, until you know the situation, it's not good to start throwing stones.

    Quoted from emkay:

I'm sorry, Occam's Razor and all that. Not a topic I want to dwell on but virus/trojan/etc activity generally has a goal more profit driven than, "Let's see if we can hide pictures of 15-y/o cheerleaders on John's PC." If his computer was hosting something he wasn't aware of, I would think most of these investigators know how to differentiate between that and a spank bank and certainly wouldn't risk the potential liability for thrashing some old dude just to pad their stats.
I don't want to know the details and I'll trust the so-called justice system to sort them out, but I really don't think he's getting framed out of context.

I disagree. When I was working for the webfilter company. Some viruses would instantly download all kinds of illegal shit all over the computer, and then try to hit you up with an FBI lockout and a number to call and pay a "fine" to unlock it. Seen it at least 50 times. and these programs threw major child porn all over the computer. I worked for that company for 4 years. I've seen pretty much all the dark shit the internet has to offer. Some real nasty shit out there.

    #216 6 years ago
    Quoted from emkay:

Yes, I've seen computers infected by those scams at least as many times as you have. I never ONCE called the cops because I knew what they were. That's my point.
edit: and neither did you, right?

well it was at work. It was my job to stumble upon those sites. we didn't call the cops from the 100's of child porn or beastality sites we seen either. Just put them on the block list for all customers and move on. we had 100k's worth of site to sift through. No time to dilly dally.

and just for the record. I'm not defending john as I don't know his situation. I'm just stating for you guys, that cases like this are not always black and white.

    #224 6 years ago
    Quoted from emkay:

You started with 50 in 4 years and then moved the goalposts to "too busy". I do call the cops more than once a month, but not about botnets. Professionals know what they're seeing.

i've run into that virus around 50 times in 4 years. Why would we call the cops. It's not our job to police the internet. It was our job to categorize the internet so our filters would filter out the stuff our customers wanted. We did the filtering for milwaukee public schools and many other organizations. so it was our job to seek out and block the child porn before others try to find it. Child porn was blocked for every customer. no exceptions. but we had to categorize others as well. Like proxies, virus locking sites, video (like youtube), forums and shit like that. There was like 12 categories a customer could request to have blocked. So the entire internet had to be looked at, and filed under something.

Most of the big child porn server type systems are overseas anyways. Calling the cops would be pointless.

    #249 6 years ago
    Quoted from xbloodgreenx:

What exactly is your point here? You don't care that you own a machine designed by a scumbag? Cool...

again, this is people assuming shit, without knowing jack shit about anything. The only people that would know anything about this, is the investigators, John and some close personal people he confides in. That's it. Anyone else should not be making judgement positive or negative until more info is revealed. This is how lynch mobs start.

    #526 6 years ago
    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I'll say my piece on this and get out.
We all know the man is entitled to an assumption of innoncence. Nobody is blowing anybody's minds when they say that.
We all know SOMETIMES, rarely, people accused of these crimes don't go to jail.
We all know Pete towsenend got away with a "caution" (nothing was dismissed, no proclamation of innocence was made, no "not guilt" verdict was issued, and nobody ever said "yeah, we buy the research claim.") Pete got away with something - paying for child porn with a credit card (which he admitted to doing) that would have landed most of us in the brig for a long time.
So please stop telling us over and over again how we need to wait for the facts. The facts right now is that the guy is in a lot of trouble. Maybe this will be one of the tiny percent where for whatever reason the accused doesn't end up in jail for a very long time. Or, maybe it'll turn out just like most cases like this, and he'll plead out just like my 4th grade music teacher who is doing 50 years for similar offenses.
But stop trying to sound smart by telling us he has a right to due process. We all know that. Doesn't change anything.

humm, but with pete townsend, maybe it was research for an album cover. In europe you can get away with a lot more than you can here. Ever see the cover for the Scorpions Virgin killer? The original cover? But in some US states 15 is legal, and some countries 13 and up is legal, so I guess it depends on where your standing at the time. Which really makes no sense at all if you think about it.

    #529 6 years ago

I was going to post the scorpions album, but I figured i'd let people google it for the shock value. I still don't know how they got away with it.

    #534 6 years ago

but here is where we have the line between, porn and art. There really isn't anything pornographic about the album covers. Nudity itself isn't porn. There isn't an act of sex or displayed in a sexual manner, taking place. In america, conservatives seem to think nudity itself is pornographic. This is not the case. So for the feds to come into the situation, it has to be more than just some artsy photos of a questionable age group. Again, I don't know the details of the situation, but it's probably a lot worse than the shit you see on controversial album covers.

    Quoted from DeathHimself:

Other then some recent Stern games a lot of his titles were years ago in which I own a few. No matter which way the case goes and if he is found guilty of this sick disorder, I'm rationalizing keeping my games saying to myself that were designed years ago before any mental illness have developed. I know I'm a hypocrite but I do love some of those titles.

    why should it matter?

My refrigerator could have been built and designed by Jeffery Dahmer. Does that mean I should look at my fridge differently? Nope. Personal lives with equipment you own, shouldn't matter. Who gives a shit what the maker or the designer did in their personal life. All that matters is that you like the product you bought. They were a hired employee. Your money went to the company. Not the individual.

    #543 6 years ago
    Quoted from vid1900:

    Right.
A naked child swimming in a pool is not porn.
A 11 year old naked girl, holding a giant chrome dildo - it's probably porn in most of the South.

what if instead of a dildo it was a chrome thermos?

    #546 6 years ago
    Quoted from Hazoff:

Jeffery Dahmer didn't design ur fridge, if he did you would probably think about differently, wow the comments on this are just amazing too me, I can't believe it. I fyou let ur kids play a GB pin after this with the man being charged and sentenced that is then ofcourse its ur choice but I couldn't, personal lives absolutely matter.

I know he didn't, but if he did. I wouldn't care. Because it's stupid to associate your product to a person that happened to be in that field at the time yours was built. Money goes to companies, not people. It's being able to separate your mindset from a material object, and something else that is going on, that has nothing to do with you. De Loreans are my favorite car. Do I give a fawk what drama took place behind the making of the car? Absolutely not. Has nothing to do with me. I love the damn car, and whatever shit John Delorean did, that's on him, but man that car is awesome.

Oh yea, my kids are completely traumatized from playing a game of ghostbusters. Because 2 weeks earlier made such a difference to today.

Keep in mind, every game John designed, wasn't just him that worked on it. By dissing him, you are also dissing the other 75 people that worked on that particular game. Don't let one bad apple ruin it for everyone else. You have the software team, sound team, builders, art department. Why should they be dissed because of one? Doesn't make any sense. Just like when something bad happens with guns...all of a sudden guns should be banned because 1 person didn't have their shit together? Get real. Or blaming MTV beavis and butthead, because someone has a stupid child that thinks acting out cartoons isn't stupid as all shit. It's the cartoon teams fault, and MTV's staff fault, because their child is stupid as all shit. Don't let one person ruin things for everyone else. And you guys are early to be pointing fingers. Let this play out. Might be getting your panties in a twist for no reason.

    #957 6 years ago
    Quoted from pinbum:

WHAT! The guy has a route with pins everywhere, that is what the QUARTER stands for LOL.

to me, a quarter always ment one more game of Dig dug, donkey kong, tutankham, or star wars.

    #964 6 years ago
    Quoted from o-din:

Just be careful where you put that donated organ.

i've donated my organ to lots of people.

    #985 6 years ago
    Quoted from vdojaq:

Oh please, save the moral standards for elsewhere

I pretty much say that all the time. Save it for some place that's not pinside. Pinball was always the outlet that could handle a little more racy stuff. After all this is known as the rebel hobby.

    #990 6 years ago
    Quoted from Darscot:

Are you guys really this dense. This is not about how racy you can be on pinside and offending people. Be as racy as you like go start a thread, enjoy the adult human form and beauty all your like. Just have the awareness to not do it or discuss it in thread about pedophiles and child pornograph. You guys can not be this stupid.

it's not about going out of your way to get a reaction to offend someone. I am the way I am. I don't have a filter most of the time. If someone gets offended. It's a them problem. We as humans should be able to handle something we hear and survive the day because of it.

    #1010 6 years ago
    Quoted from Rarehero:

You know what's something not to be taken lightly? The pedophile John Trudeau with child porn on his computer....but cool how you're trying to turn it on me. F you, Hilton.
First reaction from most humans about this story: John Trudeau is DEPLORABLE.
Neo's first reaction: He was looking at faux child porn! I'm the expert! MMmmm hmmm.

I wasn't defending pedophilia, I was saying, don't jump to assumptions until you know the real story. Real logic. And I am somewhat of an expert on porn related viruses considering the job I had for like 6 years. I've seen what viruses can do and shit that can happen to anyone. I've seen a lot of different types. Not saying this is what happened with john, i'm just stating it's plausible. I've also stated that I do not know the details of johns case, and i'm not going to throw stones until I know for sure what his situation is. Starting a premature lynch mob is a dumb move. Plain and simple.

    #1016 6 years ago
    Quoted from Rarehero:

    Want logic?
He was arrested for child porn.
Logical reaction? "John Trudeau is a pedophile"
Not "oooh, he was probably looking at legally aged people that looked underage"

We know. *vomit* ....FFS, we know.

We know what his situation is. You're trying to justify it for some reason. Throw stones.

Who's lynching? We're discussing our reactions to a pinball designer being arrested for child porn. Defending him his a dumb move. Plain and simple.

you don't know shit about it anymore than anyone else here. every person in this thread has the same facts.

John was charged and arrested on 2 accounts of child porn.

That's it. that's all we know, that's all anyone knows. You don't know the facts, and you don't have enough information beyond that. Why are you in such a rush to start a lynch mob? Why not wait until you have specifics about the situation? There will be plenty of time for lynching when we have actual facts.

Unless you like to investigate things like FOX news does and make up your own shit to justify your cause.

    #1017 6 years ago
    Quoted from Rarehero:

No, it's a 'you problem'. If you're being horrible, and someone offers you a teachable moment to not be horrible...and rather than learning from it and improving yourself as a person, you say "I am the way I am"...then you're just fucking horrible. Simple empathy and decency.

Not at all. I have never been offended by something i've heard ever in my life. So How am I suppose to try and cater to every single person in the world, and tip toe around everyone, so that people with tight asses don't get offended? Something 1000 people might not have a problem with. You will find that one tight ass that is offended by it. Should I live my life trying to appease that one guy? Fawk him. If he doesn't have the mental strength to sleep soundly from something he heard, then it's his problem. If people focused more on important issues, and not so worried about being butthurt over this and that, the world would be a much better place. That's a Fact!

    #1021 6 years ago

i was just saying, there could be other reasons, to calm down the mob mentality.

Basically, wait until we know more before throwing stones. It's what i've been saying since the beginning.

I don't know John. I've never met him, never talked to him. Don't know him personally on any level. But I try to know more about things before I start verbally attacking a situation or getting all ape shit about it.

    #1024 6 years ago
    Quoted from Rarehero:

You have zero empathy for other people & just want to continue to be an asshole out of pure stubborn pride. That's not something to brag about.

how do I know i'm being an asshole if I myself, wouldn't be offended in the same situation.

    #1057 6 years ago

strange science is a good time when it's dialed in correctly.

    #1113 6 years ago

why does rarehero work with tosh.0? If that's the case, I guess he's not one of the writers for the show.

    #1124 6 years ago

Seems several on here run on this program.

    Quoted from PinballNewb:

    Spoiler alert god damnit.

LOL, you better get your ass moving and catch up or stay off the internet. it's almost impossible to avoid spoilers for that show.

    #1156 6 years ago
    Quoted from TheLaw:

He is a Director not a writer for FGY.

    God get over it man.

    #1272 6 years ago
    Quoted from Gryszzz:

Incorrect. There was that one cryptic, anonymous post in 2013 by someone saying "don't leave your kids alone with JT." Which got glossed over and dismissed by "all of us here on Pinside".
Be back in Austin this fall mang, hope to hang again at the greatest arcade on Earth.

yea, but the internet has shit like that all the time. Now if it was several posts by different people, then people would have probably taken some notice.

    #1349 6 years ago
    Quoted from J85M:

They don't, its just a personal moral thing for most. When I hit 20 I wouldn't go near a girl under 18, a lot of guys do because 16 is the legal age of consent in England, I have had female friends who at 17 where dating guys in their 30s, personally I wouldn't do it, I never had a problem finding "women" my age or older, so I never had the need or desire to go after "girls".

it's different in a lot of regions. Hell. even in our own country, some of our states are 17, 16 and even 15 is legal. Depends on what states soil you are touching. :/
