    Quoted from flashinstinct:

Im not going to get rid of mustang overnight because of this. Nor would i have with gb. The guy designed it but alot of the engineering is not him

Yeah, this is horrible if true, but I'm not ditching Creech or Judge Dredd, even if Judge Dredd is a $1400 game folks.

    #102 6 years ago

    Disgusting!

    Jeezus!!!!
As if I needed another reason besides all those ramps to hate doing CFTBLs.

    #104 6 years ago

Everyone in the pinball community isn't a saint.

    #105 6 years ago

Not so unbelievable if its true. If you were able to see all of the men convicted of looking at child porn , you would be stunned at how many of them were perceived to be normal, regular nice guys. Thats whats soo scary, there is no set profile on these people. All i can say is that if he is found innocent, then there better be a major attempt to get that info out so that he can clear his name immediately but if he is found guilty then he should rot in prison.

They usually don't arrest innocent people on child pornography charges.

Looks like I'm gonna need to find a new favorite designer...

There have already been a couple. People seem to think it is funny while it is nothing but a shame. If true, terrible, if not terrible.

But people getting their jokes in about the games or worrying about price are only slightly less disgusting than the larger topic.

    #109 6 years ago

I agree, this is terrible, and I hope untrue...but if it is true, let this man spend plenty of time in prison.

    #110 6 years ago

Wow. Amazing who is into this stuff. Literally could be anyone. Funny thing is I literally sold my GBLE a couple of days ago and its being picked up tomorrow.

I'm gonna buck the "oh I always liked JT" trend, I didn't care for him at all. We were Facebook friends and I dropped that quickly once I figured out what he was about. We're not compatible, let's leave it at that.

I don't even like a lot of his games!

And yet despite that, I always respected that he tried new things. He wasn't a cookie cutter designer, he took risks, and that's becoming a rare thing.

Well f—k any respect now, CP is sickening. I'm a father man, I've got two girls, anyone who supports an industry that exploits them in the worst possible ways can go jump off a bridge as far as I'm concerned. (Edit: what adults do with their time and bodies isn't my concern, no judgment there to be clear, but children don't belong in that arena, period.)

Sucks for Stern, I really mean it, but no way in hell I'd buy a game that guy designed from them now. If they've got Iron Maiden or whatever in the can and it's got his name on it that blows, I wish them luck, but if I were them I'd suck it up and scrap that shit and get a new designer, because that's some nasty stank attached to it now.

Old games are what they are, I don't think anything will happen there, they've already entered our collective consciousness, but at least to me buying a new product from someone like that isn't gonna fly.

    Quoted from Quiddity:

I need more information before I tar and feather him... Two counts seems like a really small number if he's really some secret kiddie porn lover. I mean... his HD's could have 17k images and another 15k pornographic videos on them, and out of that huge number there's only TWO things that warrant him being charged over? I know, I know, 'Merica. Just seems ridiculous that someone's life is potentially going to be ruined and it could boil down to him downloading two images that he thought were legal.

    For sure.

I draw the line at 5 counts personally.

    #114 6 years ago

This is disgusting.... I'm surprised stern has not said anything yet

    #115 6 years ago

    I................got nothing.

    Sad
    Shocked
    Disgusted

    #116 6 years ago
    Quoted from LesManley:

This makes me so incredibly sad.
I hope this is some kind of terrible mistake.

I feel the same way. This is just horrible news. I hope it isn't true. So sad.... Beyond words.

I know the mods will be monitoring this thread. Please remind people it is not a jovial situation. And those that think it is funny might find cold shoulders from the adults.

    #118 6 years ago

Sad and horrible ,no not just the news but Pinside......The judgement, the jokes, seriously. Can we wait and see the facts!

    Quoted from Trekkie1978:

They had to get a search warrant.
In order to do that, they needed to present evidence to a judge.
Trudeau is still sitting in jail.

Which is any different from exonerated people released from 30+ years of imprisonment.... How... Exactly?

Stuff like this is exactly why his life is over regardless of the outcome. If it goes to trial, all they have to do to get a conviction is show that mug shot, and guys like you will step up and say 'he wouldn't have been arrested if he wasn't guilty' and 95 percent of the jury will be ready to convict before the opening statements are done. There's no justice in that, and regardless of charges I won't support the views of anyone that says otherwise. If it gets past a grand jury, where the state has to show a compelling amount of evidence to move forward with prosecution, then there is a whole discussion to be had. Until then, you don't really know WHAT has gone on and making any assumptions isn't very wise. Even if it never goes to trial his pinball career is over. Even if it goes to trial and somehow he is judged not guilty his career in pinball is over.

    Couldnt agree more !!

    #121 6 years ago

That's horrible. I won't convict him. I'll let the courts do that but if it's true let him do major prison time…

    #122 6 years ago
    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

    For sure.
I draw the line at 5 counts personally.

I'm pretty sure her point was that illegal materials are more prolific than people care to admit. Those images that aren't clearly illegal could make their way to otherwise legal aggregation porn sites and if not flagged in a timely manner by the users... Those aggregators don't give two fucks when the money is coming in. If the 'counts' are PER Image, you don't think it's plausible that he was browsing whatever and there could be two images downloaded that might not appear illegal but actually are? Mmmkay. You know it's one thing to make an assumption if it was known 'oh hey these are six year olds' but again... Do we have that information? Do you?

But sure. Insult my wife and my family, and pretend that you were too stupid to divine that on your own.

Whole lot of ifs, buts, and other irrelevant word salad there frax.

Here's a non-hypothetical - JT is sitting there in the can charged with two counts of kiddie porn, which contrary to some suggestions is actually quite a lot.

We all know he's "innocent until proven guilty" but thanks for reminding us. We will all be paying attention to what happens from here on but I don't think your pseudo-legal hypothetical manifesto is gonna calm anybody down at this point.

    #124 6 years ago
    Quoted from shacklersrevenge:

Man, this is really something. Met him and hung out a bit with him at Pintastic last year, and he signed a bunch of stuff for our tournament crew, myself included, with pictures even. Seemed like the nicest guy, so personable.
I think if people had been waiting for a bubble to burst, this would be a start to it with some of his designed games... really curious how that will go among players and collectors.
As a parent of three young kids, It's hard to stomach. I just had a conversation last week with my wife about how anybody on you or my friends list, or people we know COULD be one of these creeps. You just never know and always have to have your guard up.
It's disturbing to think about, and then it hits sort of close like this for many people within the hobby. Dark day for pinball.

    Quoted from Hazoff:

If he gets convicted thats the end of any of his games being made as for existing stock I don't see anyone buying his games after this, all his other pins through the years will take a dive big time.

It is not going to affect them at all over time. Good games are good games and people will still play them and want them. People still eat at Subway everyday and it sucks.

    #125 6 years ago

Man, I just picked up and put a BoP next to my GB 2 weeks ago.
It basically looks like a shrine to this guy right now ffs.

Ah well, we still love the games and many talented people worked together to produce these games aside from JT.

I feel you, and I get where you're coming from, and it's nominally a rational viewpoint. We don't know.

But you don't accidentally end up a suspect in a child pornography investigation, end up having a search warrant issued because of it, and then get caught with multiple counts.

If some crazy story comes out later that somehow clears his name then, well, that will be a crazy story indeed. And we can all go "man, I was sure he was guilty, what a crazy story."

But until then I'm not rolling with the "guys I'm sure this is a misunderstanding" attitude. It's just too far fetched.

From the guy that drops a plonk on my thread. F'n hilarious...

    #129 6 years ago

One of the pinball news outlets, if they want to find out more, could file a request with the police department for all of the paperwork.

The sergeant's contact information is in the news release.

I dont feel he is saying this is a misunderstanding. He is asking people not to draw conclusions .
Wait for the facts ,apply reason. This pitchfork mentality in our belovid country is sad.

This is not a random Pinside rumour. This guy has been arrested.

    #135 6 years ago

Terrible if it is true. If true I would feel weirded out having a pin designed by him in my collection and I doubt I'm the only one.

    #136 6 years ago

    Kinda crazy,
I was just scrolling through Facebook and saw that mug shot. I thought he looked familiar but then just kept scrolling. This is the first thread I open here and then it all clicked.

I'm a forgiving person, but this is not one of the things I can forgive or overlook. I hope justice is served.

Exactly. Remember Richard Jewell? Jumping to the assumption of guilt can ruin lives.

Im trying to read up in regard to Levis statement.

When I find cases that say 22 counts or 108 counts, the articles say 22 images, and 108 images.

So this means 2 images tagged, and say, possibly in cache from stopping at a site?

Im not here to take any side. I dont judge.

Ive just seen enough crap to come to respect,

But surely the police have already looked at a lot of facts before arresting him? I know nothing about how this works other than from movies and TV-shows, but wouldn't they have to be very confident sure before making an arrest.

    #143 6 years ago

Guys, they're not going to arrest and detain someone for having a couple of sketchy images in their browser cache. There are too many big offenders for them to chase after a minor offender. To get on the cops' radar, you need to be making noticeable waves.

    #144 6 years ago

Just threw his life away. If true he's one sick bastard and I don't feel sorry for him at all.

This all came from an active investigation. Search warrants must be signed by a judge to be executed and evidence must be supplied to obtain the approval of the judge. This isn't a simple image on his computer from visiting random sites. The investigation was pointed at catching child pornography visitors, there had to be sufficient evidence to provide the judge other than 2 images on his computer.

I would have thought it meant two different statutory crimes were alleged:
