You wanto hide him behind the due process argument go right ahead. Forgive me if Im not particulary concerned with this scumbags feelings or anybody who is defending him

I bet you have real high regards for defense lawyers...

    Quoted from flynnibus:

Seriously?? What is this over-driving power that people are defenseless against?

Sure you can. When someone looks at cake batter, and says "that cake is aweful" you can fault them for not waiting for the cake to actually be made. Or looks at something not yet complete.. and decides it will be awful... you can fault them for not being intelligent enough to realize THEY MAY NOT KNOW THINGS yet they continue to act as if they do.
The difference between stupid and ignorant is... the ignorant know they don't know. You don't fault people for being ignorant in a random thing, but you can sure fault them for being stupid in the same subject.
The premise of 'people can't help themselves' as you've just outlined is ridiculous and would be a justification I'd expect if you were describing a toddler... not an experienced adult who KNOWS better and should have some awareness of what their level of information is on a topic.

I've said nothing of the sort. I've never advocated ignoring the accusations or charges. But I'm also adult enough to understand the difference between accusations and conclusions... and understand that police charges and 3 paragraphs in the paper don't tell the full story.

You obviously can't seem to grasp my point and your cake batter analogy is not the least bit relevant to the situation. So let's just drop it.

Edit: a closer though still faulty analogy would be tasting the cake batter, then deciding the cake will turn out awful.

If I'm 70 years old and think a 18 year old is yummy does that make me weird

    #1304 6 years ago

Ugh, 2 of the coolest things in my game room (to me) are signed items by John Popadiuk and John Trudeau. Maybe I should re-tink having people sign things

I get the whole "innocent before proven guilty" thing, I really do, and I hope the details can prove otherwise, but it doesn't look good for John, and while it is a sick, twisted thing, I just hope he kept it to a picture on a computer and not more than that.

    Quoted from flynnibus:

Is there somewhere else on pinside you see the opposite happening? If not, why apply these unequal things (what you think happens elsewhere vs the JT situation).

Seriously? Do you honestly believe this typically hang em high crowd, given these particular charges would be so "compassionate" if it were someone else? FFS I seriously doubt JT himself would give the benefit of the doubt. I have friends in every level of law enforcement and legal system-these are not the kinds of cases that garner sympathy.

It's a great thing to see, I just wish it was exercised more across the board to ALL defendants and it is most definitely not-not here not in society at large. That was my point.

As per the family is more than likely to blame/be exploiting the children (in terms of images)-while this was true in the past the rise in digital technology and the internet has opened up a world of opportunity of access for these guys.

    Quoted from nerdygrrl:

I believe that if this was a random member and not say a pinball legend the replies would be a bit different. I think this thread sums up the flaws in our justice system and the uneven compassion and presumption of innocence displayed to most criminal defendants depending on their status.

I don't really love a single one of his games that much but I've still been adamant about innocent until proved guilty.

No, it would make you a gross, dirty old man. I'm 38 and I can't tell the difference in a 16-20 year old and all of them look like little kids to me.

For me incoherent written ramblings peppered with disgusting imagery written for no discernible purpose are taboo.

We all got our own standards.

    #1315 6 years ago
    Quoted from iceman44:

Wtf, why does that make it any better? Why do you feel the need to imply that its ok.
    He's an old man.
    I don't give a F how you define it.

I'm not entirely sure the point Vid was trying to get at, because if any or all of the pictures were of a 17 year old, that's under federal guidlines as illegal no matter what...so....

Other than the fact that age of consent in Illinois is 17, you don't find it odd that we tell people that they're perfectly capable of making the decision to have sexual contact, which could have extremely drastic consequences on their immediate health, yet tell them that they can't make the decision to participate in photography or recording of the same?

It's kinda like the "You can vote and smoke and go die for us at 18, but NO ALCOHOL FOR YOU UNTIL YOU'RE 21 BECAUSE....UM.....WE SAID SO."

Believe I stated in a prior post that I think the ideal solution to this paradox is for these things to be put to a nationwide standard, where both age of consent AND right to participate in video/photography of sexual acts is 100% in lockstep. Then there wouldn't be this weird ambiguous zone for people to argue over. Either it's legal or it's not, end of story. This point wouldn't even exist in most other countries, because they don't have states. Regardless of your own personal view on it, if the interaction between two people is consensual, and at the age of consent or above...who the F are you to judge? Hell, even here on these very boards prior to the 'no risque pictures' rule, we had old men ogling vastly younger women *ALL THE BLOODY TIME*?! Hypocrites galore. I'm sure once ya'll turn 70, you'll eat some gluten, and your dick will just rocket off into space and your sex lives will be over, and you'll never be attracted to an 18 year old again, right?

Heaton kind of beat me to the point, but I'm trying to present it in a slightly less LULZ manner.. though I gotta say the cannibalism response was one of the funniest things I've seen on here.

    Quoted from jgentry:

I guess in your world, I shouldn't even exist, because my dad was like 15 years older than my mom.

Take your age. Divide it by 2 then add 7. Any age gap bigger then that is a bit weird in my opinion

If your 20 you shouldn't be to concerned with anyone under 17
If your 40 you shouldn't be to concerned with anyone under 27
If your 70 you shouldn't be to concerned with anyone under 42

That rule of thumb has been around forever, but is not meant for keeping you out of the jail house. It is made to keep the relationship real and it does kind of make sense because otherwise you will have nothing in common. As Steely Dan said wisely: "Hey Nineteen, no we can't dance together, no we can't talk at all"

I think another good rule of thumb in this day and age is this: if the type of porn you're looking for is not available on pornhub.com for free, then you likely have a problem and should seek help.

Well, in states with a 16 YO age of consent it does. 18 & 16 is legal.

I also agree with the nothing in common comment. a 40 YO wouldn't have much in common with a 20 YO (except that body parts would fit between each other). But a 40 & 27 YO would be able to relate with a lot of things....

What if my I'm 10, she'd have to be at least 12?

Titillating to think 56/2+7=35 is not too young for me, but it would just seem weird being old enough to be her father. And at that age she'd probably still want kids!

We all like Elvis, but he started banging Priscilla at 14 years old and he was an adult man .

OMG!!! Is that what is going to happen to me on October 5th when I turn 70 ???!!!! I don't WANT it to "rocket off"! It's been with me for a long time and I've grown rather fond of it.

My brain still thinks I'm 24. You think there is hope because I don't THINK I'm old, that I can extinguish the fuse and prevent it from blasting off?! Besides . . . . I've discovered it is the handiest danged thing I've ever seen to pee out of.

On a serious note. I keep reading all about how the sex perps "download" files of underage kids and police come marching in and take them and their computers away. I'm not as computer savvy as many of you so I am posing a serious question here. I don't know what 'downloading' means (as compared to copying taboo pictures or videos and placing them on your hard drive or in a thumb drive), versus unsolicited web sites popping up without you SEEKING them.

As Ricky Recardo would say, "Let me 'splain . . . ." I use my laptop all day long researching various business sites. I have had (more than just a couple of times!) startling web sites to open up on my screen that had NOTHING to do with my business search, and suddenly I see naked people of all ages doing all sorts of things. In the few seconds of thinking, "Now, how did THAT happen?!", and just before I try to close that web site out, I get a big ole FBI logo and an announcement of something like: "WARNING! YOU HAVE ENTERED A WEB SITE THAT IS ILLEGAL. YOUR COMPUTER HAS BEEN CORRUPTED AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. TO PREVENT FURTHER LEGAL ACTION AND TO UNBLOCK YOUR COMPUTER, YOU NEED TO CALL THIS 800 NUMBER."

First time that happened, I nearly had a stroke! Plus, the web site wouldn't let me close it and it bounced back to naked pictures running like a slide program!!! I finally found a way to get around that site, get out of it, and get my computer running back to normal.

I swear to you, these are totally unsolicited things that have happened to me. I've even had things like this to corrupt my computer so bad that "CRASH", here on Pinside had to come to my house and fix my computer so it would run again.

Now .. . back to my original question. Just because I had a web site of taboo sex stuff (under age perhaps . . . most looked about 18 . . . and it took me about 10 minutes to 'study' the young lady's naked parts to determine her age ) did that constitute a "download"??? I didn't do anything but click a business web site that had NOTHING to do with porn, and I got that stuff whether I liked it or not! Simply because the web site OPENED, did I violate a law? To me, I didn't download ANYTHING! I did figure out that the FBI thing and the 800 number was a scam just to get money from me. I can see how that works because it nearly threw me into an epileptic fit!!!

Some computer whiz please enlighten me on this. I don't wanna go to jail for something I didn't MEAN to do!!!!! Besides, this thing of turning 70 and having my penis "rocket off" is really bumming me down anyway . . . .

Somewhat off topic, but you did mention dick. Did you folks know, if you are overweight, then lose weight, your dick gets bigger? It's true.

There is a big difference between click bait sites and when it opens all sorts of photos pop up on your screen, versus actually having possession of such photos/videos by means of streaming download, peer to peer file sharing or dark web bit torrents etc (which are all intentional)...

That kind of stuff is usually a scam. Happens on legit sites, too, where an ad is corrupted with malware that pops up a fake infection message telling you to call a number and locks your computer browser. I know three people that fell for this in the last 6 months. None had antivirus or firewalls, all were infected when they let the "support" number have access to "fix" their computer.

Same here. My father was 14 years older then my mother. They stayed married until they died. Must have been doing something right.
And I was 33 when I met my wife. She was 22. So does that make me weird or lucky? We've been together now for 17 years. so I don't look to much into the whole age gap stuff.

Definitely different times back then. But in all seriousness, what the heck is a 35 year old going to have in common with a 20 year old in today's time. And what would you think about a 33 year old with an 18 year old? Once everyone is 28 or older they have at least settled into adulthood so then it doesn't seem to matter as much. To each there own though.

At what point does a beautiful sexually mature 18 year old woman become ugly to you guys?

When you turn 28? 29? 30? Just one day you wake up and your brain screams, "oh gross, I think I'm gonna puke".

They don't, its just a personal moral thing for most. When I hit 20 I wouldn't go near a girl under 18, a lot of guys do because 16 is the legal age of consent in England, I have had female friends who at 17 where dating guys in their 30s, personally I wouldn't do it, I never had a problem finding "women" my age or older, so I never had the need or desire to go after "girls".

And I was 33 when I met my wife. She was 22. So does that make me weird or lucky?

Lucky. Anyone saying otherwise is full of shit. The age Gap/not finding things in common argument is pretty shallow imo, like you had to grow up watching the same cartoons in order to understand each other.

On another note, anyone older purposely seeking out non adult/ younger than 18 is creepy AF.

At what point does a beautiful sexually mature 18 year old woman become ugly to you guys?

Nobody's brain screams gross I want to puke. At some point most of us think, "oh, what an annoying little kid that I have nothing in common with"

    Quoted from Pintucky:

Besides, this thing of turning 70 and having my penis "rocket off" is really bumming me down anyway . . . .

Come on Mike, "some computer whiz" is a baited question. Yes you electronically downloaded it, but you didn't have a motive or interact with the computer in such a way that would trigger the download. Anything you see in a web browser, BitTorrent program, FTP client, etc. has been downloaded, even if you didn't save anything to your hard drive. Your ISP can see your browser requested that porn site page, and that's it. They can't determine if the request to open the website was intentional or not. In this case yes, it was an infected advertiser script on a page you were on that takes you on what I call a "redirect trip" where you hit a website with scripted code that simply takes you to another website before you get a chance to close the browser or go back.

The message about the FBI was indeed fake. If the FBI or other criminal investigation agency has a problem with you you will receive a letter in the mail and nothing more. I spoke to a customer at my day job Friday who was trying to access, you guessed it... a business site. He asked me, "How do I get this crap?!" Then I determined he was typing the wrong address and left out an e. Advertisers will buy these fake domains, hoping someone will misspell the URL of a common website. In this case it landed him on a parked site, which is a blank page with some advertiser links provided by the domain host. One of the advertiser scripts was infected with malware which lead him to the fake virus alert page.

An example when you type pinballife.com instead of pinballlife.com which takes you on a redirect trip to an eBay search results page for pinball side mirrors.

it's different in a lot of regions. Hell. even in our own country, some of our states are 17, 16 and even 15 is legal. Depends on what states soil you are touching. :/
