    Quoted from CaptainNeo:

why does rarehero work with tosh.0? If that's the case, I guess he's not one of the writers for the show.

He is a Director not a writer for FGY.

    Quoted from pezpunk:

you caught me disagreeing with your opinion! the first amendment does not guarantee you freedom from criticism! disagreeing with you is not "enforcing limits" on you!

    God get over it man.

    Quoted from 27dnast:

Who has said they saw clues?

I never said anyone said they saw clues (I used the word "essentially," as certain negative character judgments stemmed from this and posted here seem to suggest they think it's somehow relevant, and most are beating around the bush with their comments, yet making intent obvious). I'm not going to go through over 1000 posts to figure out where I've seen them... Some Pinsiders seem to have that much time somehow.

    Quoted from Nemesis:

Yo no one took me up on my offer, I heard a lot of chicken-littles talking about dumping JT titles and yet not a single item in my inbox other than a moderation notice because I CURSED A PEDOPHILE!

It might be confirmation bias, but I'm pretty sure I saw an uptick of JT pins for sale in my facebook for sale groups.

Well now come on he's got the passions aboot what he believes & much like Pez you can't fault them for that.
You can fault them for thinking their way of thinking is the only correct one, which can be annoying as shit, but again the passions will do that.

This is sad, on many levels. I'll reserve judgement for now, but not a good situation.

As an engineer, the phrase "I didn't download it" always bothered me. If someone sees an image on their screen, it was downloaded to RAM at the very least. It's also in the browser cache, if they don't use private mode. I think a lot of people get busted (by their spouses, parents, or the police) because they don't know how computers work. I loved the look on my son's face when I read off a list of all the sites he'd been to (thanks, OpenDNS).

Me too. But also an uptick of prices.

Ain't nobody trying to sell their JT pins. I don't think I've seen a single
Reasonable asking price on one this week.

This was back when he was a tween. I just wanted him to know how easy it was to track him. I haven't monitored him for about 4 years.

I believe he was just mimicking what the dad heard from his son after the shock wore off his sons face. LOL

    Quoted from TigerLaw:

Sure, you are always free to make up your own mind. But words have consequences and if you don't presume the person is not guilty and you call an innocent man a bunch of names and convict him publically with your words before he has his day in court...and if he wins...you better hope the person you prejudged and committed defamation per se against doesn't decide to go after all the nameless people on the internet that accused him of a crime.
I've seen several cases over the last five years or so where dozens of people were sued for bandwagon jumping and accusing an innocent person of a crime based off the arrest. These people were on Facebook or responding in the comments section of a news article reporting the arrest. Many of them now face wage garnishment orders or have their tax refunds seized. Many husbands are shocked that they get hit with tens of thousands of dollars in damages for some eight word comment their wife made on her Facebook account responding to something that was shared by 50 people, but that is life.
You may think you're annonimous and can accuse people of rape, murder or child porn possession and have it not matter if they are guilty or not...but youre not annomimous. Websites have to respond to civil suit subpoenas and provide all the data they have that is responsive to the subpoena.
Accusing someone of a crime when you don't know the particulars and are not involved in some way is flat out a bad idea (that you are free to make). Civil liability for this type of thing is real.
Obviously, I know nothing about the JT case. Just warning people not to call him names or state you know he's guilty (no one here knows anything about his guilt or innosence). People think "he's not going to sue me for making a statement online!"...you don't know that, if he is found innocent and his career is over anyway he may have nothing else to do but pursue his defamation per se claim and carve out a meager way of life on the proceeds from the civil litigation (if he is found innocent of if what he is convicted of is less than what people are accusing him for online - note the people in this thread that inferred or stated he was doing more than just possessing downloaded under age pics...those people are potentially in danger if he sues them even if he is convicted of possession...though reduced danger).

No joke! Great, and maybe best (and most useful) post in the thread. Edit: Tiger Laws, but the Mic Drop post was obviously awesome too.

For me, I can say that I've been compelled numerous times to post comment in this thread. But not once about JT.

    Quoted from snyper2099:

Now you are just trying to start shit. The thread has officially been derailed pages ago. No need for this.
The most important thing that I learned in history class was that the authors that wrote the books explaining the war were given a stamp of approval by most all the countries on the "winning" sides.

Wasn't trying to start shit at all.

Hi guys and gals. I'm sorry I was unable to express my thoughts on several posts earlier. The posts include #1050,1064,1069, and 1077. These posts where in response to my only 2 posts in this thread. (271 and 288) As was the case earlier when I wrote my 2 posts I have read every one of the 1169 postings. It has been very interesting to say the least.

First let me say, this is a very unusual thread. By its very nature it brings up emotions and personal beliefs. In posts 1064, and 1069 I was told that religion has nothing to do with this topic and to stop pushing my religion on this group. Let me respond by saying that to the best of my memory I have never made statements like this before on pinside. It is only the special nature of this topic that motivated me to do so. The majority of the thought expressed by the 336 pinsiders participating in this thread have come from their own personal beliefs. It would be impossible for me to express myself without basing my thoughts on my faith. Everyone has a faith (religion). It may be in themself but its still a faith (religion). If the faith is in their own judgement that's how they come to the conclusion they do. If the faith (religion) is in a higher power that how they come to a conclusion.

It was stated that "I was pushing my religion". If it came across that way I am sorry. My intent was to encourage compassion for all involved. And yes that includes John, but it also include the 336 pinsiders reading these threads.

Its hard to talk about a topic that is based in a sin without talking in terms of faith. Sin by definition is rebellion again's God.

OK a couple of last items. I want to thank Swampfire for his support. This took courage based on so many of the responses. (1050). I want to say the Medisinyl post (1064) was very clear and insightful. Thank You.

One last thing. I want to say that I respect every position taken and every person on pinside. I just reviewed the pinside rules on religion and I understand why they are included. I promise not to express any further faith (religious) comment for the rest of this thread. I think we would all love it if we never see another topic like this on pinside. My hope is that the moderators will let this post slide if it violated pinside policy. I tried to walk a fine line. Not pushing anything, only defining and clarifying.

Now back to are regularly scheduled programing. Oh no zombies See I do have a sense of humor.

Just don't use the word sin then. Plenty of other words to use. And most people don't need an old book to dictate which way their moral compass points.

How did this thread end up on religion lol

I think to sum the whole thing up weather guilty or innocent his life is over, you just dont recover from this much judgment / hate weather it true or false, the damage has already been done!

I look forward to reading the next random 24 pages.

I'd like to add that Fingersport is a highly respected member of the pinball community and has been for over 20 years. He has probably interacted with more collectors than anyone in the hobby.

This topic isn't about pinball. It's about a tragedy thats happened to someone whose job was pinball. Psychological and social topics like this one brings out all kinds of opinions. Religion helps some people deal with things like this. It has helped me many times.

Fingersport isn't wrong for trying to explain his view on this topic because faith drives him in that direction. I have known him for over 10 years and his faith is very strong and has gotten him through very dark times.

As for JT, I'd like to hope he isn't guilty but if he is, I'd like him to get help for his problem and not be put away. I have talked with him a few times over the years and always appreciated his knowledge and passion for the industry. I'm willing to believe he's innocent until proven guilty.

    I'm out. Thanks for reading.

Not right IMHO. There are laws on the books for a reason. If he was downloading it, perhaps he was sharing it? Perpetuating the crime against the children. Even looking at it is damaging to the victims and needs punished to the full extent of the law - regardless of the celebrity of the perp.
I used "if" - i'll give him his day in court.

    #1178 1 year ago

Ideally there should be both punishment (incarceration or otherwise) and an attempt rehabilitation for those found guilty.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with turning to religion to deal with something like this. It just can't be discussed on Pinside. This is one of our core rules.

Sorry. I got distracted because a guy is coming to buy my Tron LE in an hour, and I was prepping it. We do try to be consistent and enforce the rules on both sides. I just went back and removed some posts that clearly broke the rules.

If he is guilty I hope he is locked away for life, these people cant be rehabilitated or "cured"....if he was found guilty but a judge declared him "rehabilitated by treatment" would you let him babysit your kids/grandkids?

The rehabilitation thing is interesting. It's counter-intuitive, but sex offenders have much lower recidivism rates than other criminals.

That said, of course I wouldn't let him babysit my kids. Who would take that kind of risk?

I didn't actually know there were rules about religion until after I posted. Apologies to the moderators (as yes I should have read the forum rules first).

If it's the same as DUI rehabilitation, all they do is teach you how to be smarter about drinking and driving so you don't get caught again. And regardless, who wants to take a chance on whether or not they've been rehabilitated? Castrate and quarantine him for life, those monsters have no business living within society.

    Quoted from awarner:

It's about a tragedy thats happened to someone whose job was pinball.

The real tragedy is what happened to the kids that he allegedly exploited. It's not a tragedy that he got caught. That's justice beginning to get served. And it still won't be nearly enough to make up for the damage done to the kids that they'll have to live with for the rest of their lives.

I understand that there were children hurt and used because of this, but I guess I am missing the point where JT had interaction directly with children? Unless the photos were of him with children. Was he also accused of molesting children in addition to possessing the photos? The photos are bad enough but are we assuming he was doing more or has there been actual charges?

In an attempt to swing this thread in a more positive direction, the guys at the Broken Token arcade and pinball podcast are suggesting the community donate to Project Pinball. I think it's a great idea. http://projectpinball.org/

I think too many assumptions are being made here. It could have been pictures of his small granddaughter running around in her diaper and the police decided to call that child porn. It could be that he went to a porn web site that had child porn and he left that site as soon as he saw it but the pictures were left in his browser history. And the story says he was charged with 2 counts which I believe means 2 pictures were found. That hardly sounds like someone addicted to child porn with only 2 pictures. Or it could be that it was pictures of him violating the girls. But until we have more facts I think it's too early to crucify him.

    There is no **help** available.

If it's true that JT is a pedophile, his brain is wired incorrectly at the synaptic level.

Pedophiles have other brain wire oddities, like being 400x more likely to be left-handed.

Hormone or antidepressant therapies are not going to re-wire his brain, anymore than it would cure left-handedness.

    ---======-----

You guys also have to remember that:

A Pedophile is someone with a sexual interest in others under the age of 18.

A Child Molester is someone who ACTS upon that interest with a child.

    Two very different things.
