Down to business. I'm in the process of buying a Ghostbusters Le and I was wondering what the best mods and accessories are to get for the machine. Is the playfield protector worth it? Is the topper worth it. Is there anything I should shy away from?

Welcome and congrats on getting a great game! I wouldn't get a playfield protector and I'm not a fan of the topper personally but some people do like it a lot. I'm not sure if there is any must have mods really. The Premium and LE models are pretty damn loaded already. I have the Premium and it's a great great game that will never ever leave my collection ever. It's my favorite pin!
congrats on the purchase - is it a brand new or second hand home use
most GB's have a few issues / rather need a few tweaks to the rhs ramp and many people get airborne balls which oldpinguy does a protector which limits the ball to getting air and I did a simple target wedge to heavy reduce the airballs.

I'd suggest finding the Ghostbusters Club thread; there should be a bountiful harvest of existing information and plenty of people there to help you with new questions.

I have the LE and I agree, it's also my favorite pin. I was thinking in my lineup what I would get rid of if I HAD to get rid of something and TBL would go before GBLE.
Wow, thanks for the reply's everyone. I was trying to find the ghostbusters club thread but i guess i was too tired. I got the chance to play the LE at the arcade expo in banning CA this year, you couldn't pry me away from it. Thanks again everyone and have a great weekend.

If you're still looking for some upgrades, here are some I enjoy on Ghostbusters:
Backbox Fading Light- Generally adding purple lights to the back of a pin isn't a good thing, but it fit GB's art & theme really nicely

Also the Flipper bat toppers from Ulek. These are a nice, inexpensive, understated upgrade that looks like it could've been factory.
