Okay, so I just pulled the trigger on one of my Grail games, Race Drivin'! I had a chance to purchase the cockpit version a few years ago, but unfortunately my basement door isn't wide enough...and it weighs 750 damn pounds!

Anyway, I bought the compact version and am waiting to have it shipped. I'm wondering if anyone has ever moved one of these into their basement. Any horror stories I need to know about?

Thanks!

Helps to have a friend around.

I plan on having more than one on hand that day! I'm getting really nervous about this...

If you are doing stairs do yourself a favor and take the monitor out. Its a bit of disassembly, but as everyone has said, with it being so far up in the cab it makes it super unwieldy!

No chance I'm trying this by myself! I'll definitely have help.

Okay, so I got my Race Drivin' down into my basement (spiritual experience, by the way), turned it on, and got this code:

"ASIC 65 TIMEOUT"

That's it, nothing else. No bootup screen, no self testing, nothing.

Can anyone help?!? Please!!!

I'd re-seat the 4 way ribbon cable at the back first.
Did it work before it went downstairs?
You will need to put it in diagnostics mode and run the battery of tests available.
Do you have a manual? if not PM me.

PM sent!

Is it working better, dirtbag66? Measure 5 volts on the board with the ASIC and make sure it's not 4.8 or something.

Update:

Got the ASIC message to go away by wiggling and jiggling a bunch of stuff in the back. Haven't had an issue since. The newest problem is with the brake pedal. Originally I thought it was both the brake and the gas, but I learned from reading the manual that you need to leave the game on for 10-15 minutes before doing the initial calibration. Whatever battery powered backup this game has seems to have failed as I need to recalibrate every game and my high scores are always gone. Gas pedal now works great, but brake doesn't work at all. So I just disable it and let off the gas to slow down. Not ideal, but at least I can play it until I get the brake serviced.

If there’s a battery, I’d be concerned that it’s damaged. Hopefully it’s just dead and needs to be replaced.
Does the break petal have a potentiometer? That would be what I’d look at first

Both pedals have a potentiometer. Apparently the brake pedal uses a strain gauge to determine how hard you are pushing it. I'll have my tech look at that first.
