Found this under my Gorgar last night. I know Gorgar is evil and eats souls but he kept it real last night. Anyway, the reminder is just to be mindful of these pests, especially those of us who keep our machines in a garage or basement. I'm glad I found it instead of my 8 and 2 year old.

Nasty black widow. Glad you caught that thing. I'm always creeped out by what may be lurking around my games power switches.

    #3 1 year ago

Ive been bitten twice by black widows, its any ugly wound but really not to dangerous...unless your very young or very old...
Ive found them crawling on me at least another half dozen times without getting bit
..my job puts me right where they hang out and meetings are un-avoidable for me...

In Europe, the land snails are totally delicious, but they are small so you eat a dozen or so .

Great.. now I will never be able to casually flip on a game w/out bending down with a flashlight to inspect the power switch. Newer sterns are sounding better all of the sudden with the relocated switch..

No problem with the giant snails.. large spiders I do have a problem with.

In Louisiana we have Black Widows, Brown Widows, and Brown Recluse Spiders.
Ranges are generally expanding north for widow spiders.

    Some info on Brown Widows.

Some info on Brown Recluse Spiders.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_recluse_spider

I'm not gonna post pics of brown recluse spider bite wounds. I'll let you guys/gals search online for that.
Some pics are truly disgusting looking.

I've seen some camel spiders. the babies are not so bad. But the bigger ones are pretty nasty. They are like any other spider though and as scared of you as you are them. The F's can get big though. And yes I will now be looking under my pins as well. Thank you so much!

    #37 1 year ago

And this one lives outside my back door! He is just a common spider though and eats mosquitoes!

So basically you're saying we're screwed down here in Alabama. Ironically, I don't see them all that often in Birmingham. I know they're out there, but maybe I don't spend enough time in the woods. I can only recall ever seeing 2 black widows.

Man I love living in Vermont. We don't have to worry about any of those things. We have a very small area in southern VT that has a population of raddle snakes but that's it.

Speaking of snakes caught this bad boy by the front door last year.

Ouch, copperheads are the worst. At least with a Rattle Snake they (generally) warn you that you are about to do something stupid. Copper heads just wait till you get to close and strike.

Only thing worse (to me) are Cotten Mouths. Those bastards have been know to chase people!

    #48 1 year ago

Yeah was walking inside and saw it’s tail sticking out. Scared the hell out of me haha. At least it wasn’t it’s head. It was between the box and the house. Glad I found it as I have young children and already had one kid bite by a snake a few years ago.

I’m not a fan of snakes and usually won’t mess with them. I know some won’t like to hear it but I did end up killing this one.

In OH we have a law that if a snake bites a kid 3 times, he gets put down.
