Fellow Pinsiders,

I'm pretty new to the pinball community and absolutely love it, the camaraderie and and love for the game is outstanding!

I have a NIB IMDN Pro and still get excited every time I play it after 5 months of ownership. I'm ready to pull the trigger on the new JP which i have played the pro 3 games and really liked the flow, art, I'm sure code will continue to be updated to epic levels. I also really enjoy DP, every time I step up the shots leave me so satisfied. What are the Pros and Cons to both, i know this a fairly loaded question due to not many JP are out in the wild. Thoughts, advice would greatly be appreciated...either machine would be Pro version!!! Thanks and enjoy your weekend.

Love both games but I would get JP.

Used Deadpool Premium now, then sell in six months for a used JP Premium!

Great idea! I would also suggest this- Deadpool pro is a cool pin

#5 4 years ago

JP is really too new to answer this question but I always tend to side with the proven pin that you might be able to buy gently used. It's always fun to have what is the newest and I am positive JP will be one of Stern's best but I would wait until I played it more especially if you know you really enjoy DP. Double this for the fact that no one has played a JP Premium and it could be one of those games where you need the Premium.

Deadpool now, then JP if you don’t like it. DP seems to hold its value more than the other newer sterns

JP will most likely take time to be great just like how DP code makes that pin awesome now.

Notice a trend here? This is sage advice.

In essence, it takes a while - as in a year usually - for Stern to polish the code on their new titles so that we can experience them at their fullest potential. Heck, 5-years ago it took them a lot longer than a year, but we have new pinball enthusiasts such as yourself to thank for the resurgence in interest which allowed Stern to add staff and do more parallel development.

So hold off a bit on JP2. In the meantime you can have fun and Play Better.

get both dp and jp. trade iron maiden away and use towards buy one of the games. dp is better than IM. i traded mine for dp. i have gotten a lot more into dp than IM. quirky fun games. what i play of jp pro i was pretty high on it. the flippers and a lot of ramps is different than most pins.

#9 4 years ago

Funny that I want both DP and JP both, can't decide but leaning towards JP a bit especially if was getting a pro because JP looks more complete as a pro while DP is missing a bit more.

#10 4 years ago

Ha, I'm considering the same. I can say for sure DP is hard to come by used, so it must be a good game. I'm a bit torn on JP as I have a DE one and would hate to give up a slot for a game with the same title. Wonka is on my short list but JJP is not leaving a good taste in my mouth right now.

Dead simple. Deadpool Prem now - it has mature code and is now amazing after a terrible start. Enjoy that for 6 months to a year and wait to see how Jurassic Park develops.

Great idea, I’ve got a DP Premium arriving tomorrow. Hold up on jp prem

#13 4 years ago

No doubt Deadpool!

#14 4 years ago

JURASSIC PARK !!!!

#15 4 years ago

I would go dp. Jp code park is new. What if it's not good? The pro seems a bit skimp on the feature side.

Dp offers a lot on the pro. I expect there will be more to the code this year. Somebody made a good point about not many used ones out there for sale.

Dp is just a fun game. I got the le and it's never leaving

You will dig the Deadpool Premium experience.

#17 4 years ago

Both look good to me!!! JP is newer and looks interesting though.

#18 4 years ago

I played them both the other day and still enjoy DP more at this point. I think JP has a lot going on for it and you cant go wrong with either but at this point between the 2 games I would choose DP.

#19 4 years ago

JP, wait 6mos to a year and then buy a HUO DP Pro for 4200.00-4500.00, honestly the Premium is clunky compared to the Pro IMHO. Haven't played JP but when you know, you just know ya know?!

How can the premium be clunky compared to the pro?

Yeah, that is completely inaccurate. I bought the Premium over the Pro because it has significantly improved flow, Disco Loops, and drop targets. It’s less clunky than Pro if they are both setup correctly.

I’m torn between them, can add one and only one pin at this time. JP would be nice to own the pin of the moment. But DP has better art. Not sure which will have better rules.

#23 4 years ago

Just got my JP2 and I’m loving it! DP is also a great game and one that I will probably own at some point.

#25 4 years ago

I played both JP and DP Pros and DP was definitely more fun. I didn’t know anything about DP other than the movies, so I didn’t know what I’d think about the pinball. I kept going back to DP. Went back to the arcade the next day to spend more time on it again. Liked it so much, I bought one (Premium on the way).

#26 4 years ago

Honestly - my question would be - Which one has a chance at a better PF

2 weeks later
#27 4 years ago

I was facing the same question recently and got a chance to play both prior to buying one. I also own IMDN. I ended up with DP and the whole family has been having a blast playing it. Don’t regret going with Deadpool one bit. It is a super approachable pin. JP is still on my radar as a future purchase but there are so many fun, goofy things to do for the avg player and some more challenging things for advanced players. JP felt similar to IMDN in terms of technical shots so I figured I would go with a somewhat different layout to mix things up. Mine was built on Aug 22nd, 2019 and did not have any of the issues people have been mentioning regarding pooling, chipping, etc.

#28 4 years ago

Let someone else take the depreciation. NIB is an inevitable loss especially with the playfield problems. Get a clean used Deadpool, sell for no loss 6 months from now and then grab it one of the JP premiums second hand for 6400.

#29 4 years ago

Deadpool is a proven good game, and coded far better.

Ask again in a year.
Now: Deadpool-

Hated DP then, hate it now. Lil' Deadpool is a huge waste of time, and annoying AF. Like porn, DP is best enjoyed with the sound OFF.

If you're in Li'l Deadpool modes much you're doing it wrong. I HATED DP for the first 6-8 months because of the clunky pro shots, but then I played a Prem then an LE with newer code and it was a revelation. Deadpool Prem/LE is a fantastic game with the current code. How much have you seen?

#32 4 years ago

I liked DP from the first play. I was set to buy IMDN but for me it's a toss up as to which is better. JP, which I've only played once, had the best feeling ramps ever and I'm a ramp guy. I'm not sure about the Newton ball thingy - 'need more time on all 3 pins.

#33 4 years ago

I would pick DP over the Dinosaur game....I don't care for the DP theme, but its a really fun game.

#34 4 years ago

Vic, while I had early code on a LE, it was the shots themselves which I found frustrating. Lil' DP is just..so..right THERE. Hard to avoid. And the callouts! Awful, IMO. DP sounds like an old Jewish man, who isn't quite old enough to carry off his immigrant accent.

You have to play it with the newest code.

I, too HATED the game initially, but the new code makes a Pro bearable and a Prem/LE awesome. Also, the more you play it, the less the clunkiness bothers you because most of the clunkiness seems to come from some really weirdo shots the game wants you to make - A LOT. All I'm saying is take it from a massive hater of the game originally, Deadpool is one of the best pins Stern has out now. Really something special, and Tanio has done a fantastic job making it fun and quirky enough enough to make the occasional clunk not matter.

#37 4 years ago

Not sure if Deadpool is Jewish but somebody's God sure helped out on the code. It's excellent.

Same question here..
I'm the lucky winner of a Pro. I just need to choose among actually available ones.
I have LOTR, TSPP , RFM and DI is coming.
DP seems a good choice even as Pro, especially with >8 yo kids
Any comments on violence , as they won't get callouts (non English speaking)

#39 4 years ago
Quoted from BENETNATH:

? Animations are 90’s-esque street fighter looking kick/punch, pretty harmless. You collect big, goofy weapons, again harmless animations...even if you did understand the language, there’s a non-adult mode for call outs.

My 9 year old loves it. X-men fan, he’s never seen Deadpool but likes all the easy to understand battles. Fun game.

Thanks, would DP be better than a star trek for younger kids ?
Our charity project will be placing soon 3 pinballs in the pediatric hospital. We are aiming for star wars , JP and ST.

My two daughters (5 and 9 years) prefer DP over SW or ST. They know the three machines, and their variants. They often laugh while playing and the Lil Deadpool multiball is very easy for kids. There are battles on screen but no blood. Even the battles are funny. JP, on the other side is real adventure and dinosaurs fassinate the kids. My daughters love the Stern JP machines also. Well done for your project! My wife and I work at the hospital of Saint Etienne and a project like that that would be an excellent idea.
