Quoted from tron1969:Lowering the flipper power to around "120" mine is now set to "118" made a huge difference
Is this accurate? Factory setting is 255. Do you really mean 120 and 118? Your settings are super-soft. Mine are in the 220 range...
Yet another Helicopter mod...
The plastic "chopper" is an embarssement on this otherwise amazing game. Others have shown options. Here's another one. This has the advantage of being 1) currently easily available, and 2) cheap.
The source chopper is the Runway 24 HH-60J Jayhawk. Available on Amazon Prime for about $10 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DOTA73O). Yeah, its got a Coast Guard color scheme. I just think of it as the Isle Nublar Coast Guard.
Installation requires drilling this out to fit the flipper bushing used for the helicopter shaft. This step is tricky. The Runway 24 model is quite nice. 3-piece of diecast metal with good details. The bad news is it's main body is 2 separate halves. In order to drill this, you absolutely need a drill press vice. I sandwich the chopper in my vice, and took my time slowly drilling out the hole. I used about a dozen bits, all slightly increasing in size as I went.
Trust me on this (don't ask how I know), you'll ruin it if you try to drill this without a vice or by jumping up to large bits too quickly. Once drilled, install is a piece of cake. Final result looks great on the game. Good luck!

The pinball hobby means learning to repair and maintain games. If you own a pinball, it will eventually require mechanical repair and maintainence. Any pinball.
The T. rex mech is fairly simple by pinball standards. If you enjoy that feature, then purchase the premium.
Excellent work weathering the Jeep. I just ordered one as well. Assuming mounting is pretty straight forward, nothing tricky?
That's off the flipper linkage, the tab used to close the flipper EOS switch. You'll need a new Flipper mech.
Flipper bounce can be fixed with slightly stronger springs. Try taking a few turns out of your current springs, or replace them with a stronger substitute.
Iron Maiden has this issue as well. I found bending the autolaunch forks was the best way to tune this to get a clean launch. I did a bit of trial and error, bending one fork or the other until I got consistent performance. FYI. Good luck.
The light and the switch are separate parts of the action button. Can you take off your lockdown bar and then activate the button by pressing the switch leaf? I'm guess you need to tweek the switch so the button activates it.
I found the same thing for this flipper system. Very precise, less flex, and better feel. I posted a detailed review in the mods forum, and got savaged for this. Glad to know others see the benefits here. Great looking color, too.
The PPP flippers have been available less than a month. Once word gets out of how much an improvement in play they offer, I’m guessing they’ll be a run on these. I talked with John (the owner) when I did my second order for the rest of my games. He’s getting a couple of new colors, including green and purple. For what they offer, the price is insanely low. I did a pretty careful inspection of the parts in my second order. Of the 15 shafts I received, each measured precisely 0.250 inches. To 3 places, no variance. Just look at that part. Solid stainless steel (the conical section isn’t welded, its machined from billet) then centerless ground. Just gorgeous parts in this system.

3 on a scale of 10. The hardest part is tightening down the pinch bolts on the new shafts. You do this job once, and you’re done. All subsequent adjustments are done above the playfield.
BTW, I’m in Albuquerque if you want to see these in person. PM me, you’re welcome to come try this on the games in my collection.
Quoted from RikV:Did you add a bushing to the upper flipper too, or just the lower flippers? I'm planning on just adding the bushing to the lowers for now.
For most games I've done, I've only put the precision bushings on the lower, main flippers. Only on GZ did I also put a bushing on the upper flipper. GZ has the great loop shot off the upper flipper, and the precision bushing definetly helped me hit that multiple times in a row compared to stock.
Quoted from RikV:Really enjoyed your review of these on the other thread.
Thanks, very much. I caught quite a bit of heat in my review. They've only been available for a few weeks. It will be interesting to see others try this system out and share their thoughts. Obviously, I'm enthusiastic about them and have upgraded all my games. Joel's Twitch stream last night featured these, too, and he was quite enthusastic about them as well. FYI.
Fantastic mod with the working Helicopter! So very well done. Thanks for posting this, it's a great idea.
Quoted from athomepinsider:Personal best today previous PB was around 350k.
That is completely awesome! Not everyday you better your previous best by a factor of 2000! WoW! Congrats! (j/k. Yeah, I know what you meant...)
