Quoted from Gahendo:

Anyone have a fix for the jeep sticking? Mine has started acting up recently. Ive checked level and wiped down all the parts.

In addition to what CoolCatPinball posted...take a look at the ball at the end of the jeep looking down the playfield eye level at the ball drain. Look for the clearance of the ball to the playfield...Over time, the 4 rubber rings may wear or if you added different rings (Titans's) they may have compressed slightly...The rings take a deflect balls, but they also maintain keeping the kinetic ball perpendicular to the main shaft.

The thread of the kinetic ball is limited to just allow a little play and slack when tightened fully on the nut, so in a sense the 4 rings prop the ball up and keep the crosspiece lateral to the playfield and prevent it from dragging.

So you can either replace the rings with 4 new ones or add a 5th ring

I added a 5th ring s and now the ball sits where it should from the factory and doesn't bind/drag on the playfield.

I did not try them through ebay, though I do see they have some listed there. The only downside now is that ebay charges tax, so that makes the game quite a bit more expensive.

Ahhh damn, didnt know that . Curious if he cant pull a couple from Ebay without getting some sort of fee? Surely they make LOTS more selling direct rather than ebay.

I imagine that would have come up when I spoke with him on the phone, but I'll try shooting him an email. Either way, the scarcity of the premiums right now might result in me ordering a pro. I'm coming around to it, I've played both and they're both fantastic.

Absolutely, no complaints about the pro here.

Well I may have found the last premium in the country, I just bought it! I'm in!

I did that when Star Trek premiums were all but "gone" snagged the last one from Melissa at Coin Taker.
Bet is feels great to get one given the current situation!
Congrats!

I have been a pinball fan and reading this forum for just about 10 years. In this boring crisis, I finally pulled the trigger on my first nib machine(I owned a judge dredd 7 years ago and its long gone), a JP pro from Trent at Tilt. After 10 days of owning it, I have personally put in 358 games. I have read over the years so many issues with NIB Stern games. This game was made March 16 2020. I am blown away with the quality. I have put it through the ringer for 10 days and it is still flawless and plays amazing. Zero defects and it is a blast. The playfield still looks fantastic and I have been cleaning it Way more than probably needed. I have an Maiden premium on the way hopefully delivering tomorrow or Tuesday. I obviously got one of the last machines they made before the major shutdown because of COVID, but I wanted to comment and recognize the quality they are putting out. I really am impressed and they have made a customer out of me. I hope they can continue putting out games built like tanks when business resumes as normal. Bravo Stern. Hope my IMDN premium has the same quality!

Hey all,

About 800ish games in at this point, and the autoplunger is making it up the S ramp about 50% of the time. It was never 100%, but the first 50 games I'd say it was about 95% and has gone down from there. It also feels like the S ramp is rejecting more shots, but obviously there's no objective way to prove that's not just a skill issue, haha. I know I can go in and crank up the power on the autoplunger, but is this indicative of a deeper problem with that ramp that I need to be worried about? Anybody else run into anything similar?

Does the ball make it thru the half pipe without bouncing off the side walls? There are posts in this thread that refer to the forks at the half pipe that extend down the shooter lane needing to be adjusted, particularly raising the left one by placing some small washers under the fork. This straightens the flight of the ball and stops the ball from bouncing off the side walls of the half pipe and losing momentum.

Does the ball make the ramp if you manually plunge the ball? If it does this ~100% then maybe the issue is with the autoplunger itself, is it hitting the ball more on one side causing the ball to bounce of the side walls of the shooter lane and half pipe?

Also what power do you have the autoplunger set at? If everything physically looks fine, then maybe trying reducing or increasing the power

If you can capture a slow motion video of the ball being fired by the autoplunger and the manual plunger, this may help identify where the issue is

Yeah, I'm sure I would have been happy with the pro, but I really wanted the raptor gate! I ended up having to pay for shipping via STI, so I overpaid for the game by a few hundred bucks in the end, but at least I was able to support a small family owned business during this crazy pandemic. Their storefront (in a shopping mall) is shut down right now, so it was nice to be able to give them business.

STI isn't picking the game up til Thursday, so I won't have it til next week. I was hoping to get it in time to do Deadflip's JP stream this Friday, but that's no big loss since I've sucked on the other two I was on.

In terms of mods, what are the must haves? Right now I'm going to get green rubbers, a shaker, and the control room plastic. I already have some mirror blades I'll pop in the game too.

Not sure how original you like keeping your games, but I went with the ramp & rail accents and lockdown bar accent from Tilt Graphics. From Mezel Mods I went with their fossil sign covers, distressed caution flipper toppers, and their raptor pin. For blades I went with the PinGraffix JP PowerBladez. From Ulek I ordered some of the signs as well as the control room plastic and the JP playfield pteranodon from Modfather. But honestly, the must have would be the Stern JP Amber Shooter Knob if you can get your hands on one, I've been trying since January, when I first got my premium. I was thinking of rigging my own, drilling holes in the shooter plate, wiring some LEDs, and then buying the amber from Modfather.

These two screws were completely offf therefore gate was not going down and was all crooked . With removal of those two screws it’s fixed. Do u guys think the unit can hold
Up with just those two screws on the right or not a good idea ?

I would just fill those two holes with some wood filler (eg: JB Weld Kwik Wood), then put the screws in properly when it hardens.

Thanks for the advice,
You know what, I will ask Chas to maybe take this one and dremmel like the other pinsider had done (nice write up), or I may ask him for replacement with more open areas on that side so I can adjust it, Im sure Stern will do it since this is an obvious defect

I had this exact problem in mine and talked to Chas about it at the time (Sept/Oct 2019 when my Premium showed up). The accepted solution was to break a toothpick a couple of times in the old hole and then screw the assembly back in and just that little bit offset was all it took and it's been perfect since. I think that or the solution from atrainn with wood filler would be your best bet

Have you tried hitting both flippers while it's holding the ball? On my premium any time a ball is being held by a post all I have to do is hit both flippers to have it released early.

Agreed. On the pro, that blows through the animations and you get back to playing. Do it twice and it’s even faster.

I drilled the backside with a 3/32 bit.
I used a K&S metals 3/32 aluminum rod to insert into the drilled hole.
A pair of lineman's pliers help bend and cut to size.
I formed a loop and used the screw and washer to hold it in place.
I had the rods leftover from a Star Destroyer I mounted on SW.
They were $3.49 for a 5 pack at Hobby Lobby.

You know, sometimes the simplest answer is the stupidest one. I went back and checked the audits and it's actually creeping up on 1k plays, so I gave the whole playfield a good scrubbing and waxing, rubbed a tiny bit of wax inside the U-turn for good measure, and it hasn't missed a shot yet in 5+ games. Free bonus - it seems like the S-shot is getting rejected a lot less too... I have yet to send a ball up the S lane and have it not make the ramp, although my sample size is very small.

Thanks for helping me think it through though; there may still be more going on that the fresh wash 'n' wax is covering up. If so, I'll definitely refer back to your post.

Joined the club!

Ordered a Pro a few months ago to put on location, but since the location is now temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 situation, it has taken up residence in my home office. Talk about a silver lining!

Everything seems to work flawlessly out of the box. Upgraded the software, swapped in a more silent PSU fan, and -- after honestly too many games in happy ignorance -- noticed that the truck was stuck, held in place by a couple of rubber bands... *cough*

Has anyone tried out this barbasol can mod: https://mezelmods.com/products/jurassic-park-pinball-barbisol-can

It seems like an alternative to the control room plastic, but I can't find any posts about it in the owners thread(s). I thought it was hilarious, so I went ahead and ordered it.

I have that mod. I like it, but the tape to install it could be better.

In the club. Unboxed and all setup. Mezelmods and Tilt art blades add a nice touch to this game. Really enjoying the T-rex mech now that I have it dialed in. Great game!

Noticed this twice so far now so figured I would reach out. Every once in a while (twice in past month or so), the game wont boot initially. The dim backboard light comes on, but nothing on the play field, lcd, etc. Turning it off and back on brings it to life like nothing happened, and then I can proceed to play as long as I want without issue.

Any thoughts on why the initial boot wont work? Thanks

#4834 3 years ago

Hey guys! I bought #380 from Pinstein, and love it!!! definitely the best game i've owned.

Has anyone had issue when turning the volume past 35+ that the sound cuts out every so often? Most noticeably on the T-rex roar. I'm thinking its a overpower issue with the amp. Any thoughts?

This sounds like the amp clipping maybe? My Maiden did this so I ended up wiring an external amp into the game to power the speakers, that got rid of it. This thread goes over it: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/replacing-on-board-amp-with-external-amp-for-iron-maiden

I wasn't a fan of making new holes in the playfield.
I took a rats tail file and made the holes in the bracket itself longer so that the screws went into the same holes in the wood.

Had the game for one month or so.
Still a bit struggling, esp with the watchtower ramp.
Having a real hard time breaking the 500m score, and still havent reached the visitor center.

Any tips?
Is there some tweakto make the watchtower ramp less clunky?

Liking the game, even if it`s a tad linear and no real side missions/things to do.
For the family, i`d love to see a daily high-score list and a camera.

Linear with no side missions? You must be playing a different game. If you wanted, you could basically ignore the paddocks and concentrate on control room modes (selectable) or T-Rex modes (random after the first), each with their own mini-wizard modes. Or concentrate on CHAOS or Raptor multiball and trying to get deep in them. Or, you can even start the game in Escape Nublar Challenge for what is basically an entire mini-game of its own. Plus, even the map progression itself has path choices at every single paddock. Sorry, I just don't understand how that can be considered linear with no side missions.

The game literally ends after Nublar. That seems linear to me. I love the game for sure, but most of my games do feel very similar.

It was a new ramp guide for the left side of the ramp. It is a bit thicker and shaped different.

It helped some, but my skill shot counts maybe half the time. I am looking a some 3D printed solutions to get that shot to count all the time.

This tweak was necessary on both JP's I own, so it might be necessary on yours as well to make the watch tower shot more doable:

Game doesn't seem linear to me at all: Visitor center and T-Rex modes mix-in with paddock modes. Lots of different ways to play this game.
