I'm having Distortion problem with the cabinet speaker. At end of ball and at times during game the speaker distorts bad. Stern sent me a new cabinet speaker and a New CPU board and it still distorts even with volume set at 12.
Anyone experiencing this issue?

Quoted from DavidPinballWizz:

Is the new code for the Escape Wizard mode that you can start when you want (hit both flippers before you press start) also the actual wizard mode for completing the game?

I believe it’s still in beta.

Does it remain when you switch ohm setting?

Currently Escape Nublar isn't coded at all.
Once you get to, and play, Visitor Centre there are no more dinosaurs to capture and that portion of the game is effectively a dead end.
It still leaves the control room modes to play, which leads to Secure Control Room mini wizard.
As well as the T-rex/Truck modes, which leads to Museum Mayhem (The BEST mode ever). After Museum Mayhem, EVERY T-Rex mode will be the multiball and you can't play the other modes again.
There's still Pteradon attack, from the right ramp, and DNA combos to go for.

Once latest code is released, which can't be far away seeing as it has gone to a couple of locations to be Beta tested, Escape Nublar will be playable either by getting passed Visitor Centre, or by using the flipper code at the start of the game.

IMHO JP has got to be the greatest game ever released from a playfield layout perspective, integration of theming, graphics, sound and coding. I thought IMdn was good, but JP is just different level awesome.

.

Not 100% happy with this , it looses the wizard mode aspect... as it can be obtained that easily. That is if it's 100% the exact same mode with score values, etc...
Hopefully they add an adjustment so you can disable this from the menu (to be able to select it from the start)

Just a nice option... u dont ever have to play it if you dont want too.

In accordance with the video released of the mode, YES it is a menu selectable option.

Personally I don't believe it takes anything away from the wizard mode at all. It's so difficult to even GET there, it's nice that you can actually practice it before hand and not waste the opportunity once it happens in a real game!

There will almost certainly be a setting to disable - it's also been quoted by KME himself that the scoring will be slightly different. Getting there the 'normal way' the route back through Nublar will be based on the paddocks you visited, dinosaurs captured and workers rescued. Making it easier if you achieved a lot on the way.
Obviously if you just start at the Visitor Centre those other factors, such as route through paddocks, will have to be made up.

Stern have already done something similar with God Mode on GB (but this can only be activated from the operator menus, not flipper codes).
My local site has a GB set on God mode constantly, and it takes SIGNIFICANTLY more money than any of the other 25 games, including all of the latest Sterns and JJPs.

Think being able to choose from the beginning Escape Nublar is a fantastic option that allows lesser skilled players to actually see that mode. Bravo Keith!

I’ve only made it to Museum Mayhem twice ever in a ton of plays. Never made it to visitor center yet. Would imagine most people will not make it to visitor center and beyond, but in rare instances, because it is just that difficult.

This option will make it much more approachable and those that want the much more challenging route, never choose it from the beginning. Those rare pinball wizards can trudge through the middle of the island and get to Escape Nublar the hard way. Lol Has anyone here done it yet?

I second that JP2 is possibly the greatest game ever made, because it has so many shots and ball flow is amazing, with tons of things to shoot. 4 ramps! The code and rules are just wow and continues to stay interesting for the long haul, combining video game aspects with modern pinball. Don’t think any other game touches JP2 in an overall gameplay experience.

Yes. I switched the ohms setting of speaker and it still distorts. Tried new speaker, new CPU. Is it something that I just have to live with?

As long it's a setting I'm ok with it, being worth double or something when achieved the hard way is even better

No, it's not something you have to live with. Distortion is not a normal occurrence on this game. Something is wrong on your machine. Unfortunately I dont have any ideas on how to fix it, but rest assured, it can be fixed.

I have distortion also. My pro is probably one of the first off the line... not done any troubleshooting yet. @Dawasa, let me know if you have any luck!

#3815 4 years ago

CoolCatPinball can you share your bracket design for the helicopter please. I have the helicopter coming.

Thanks

#3816 4 years ago

So with all this talk of distortion I noticed last night that my game suddenly seems to have a slight delay between the two back box speakers making everything echo quite a bit. I haven't done anything to the machine in a few weeks and even that was just a light pf cleaning. I figured it could wait until later today to see if it does it again.

Quick question, at what pitch are your JPs set up? Also the control room return should the ball hit the tip of the left flipper or the center?
I have mine at about 6,5° and leveled nicely but the control room return barely makes the tip of the left flipper.

I am 7 degrees and it plays awesome

7.0 pitch is recommended by the designer, I had wild feeds out from the "C" shot as well so I just adjusted the metal rail down a bit so that it would feed the left flipper consistently.

Totally agree. Honestly, I think additional "game modes," like this are genius and a great way to make a pinball machine last longer in a home environment. I get the instinct to worry about whether it will diminish the actual wizard mode -- but frankly final wizard modes are usual just a blur when you get to them and since you probably haven't studied the rules it's kind of a cluster F. Honestly, I think I'd rather have played the wizard mode a bunch of times before I really get there, so I have a chance to savor the moment more, if that makes any sense. I can see how others would disagree with this though.

And this makes the game at home great for friends and parties. Most of my friends don't play as much as I do, so for them, this will be a great addition of something to challenge each other with.
And, the coders will know that all their work will be used and enjoyed more.
I love everything about this.

Hmm... what happens when you beat all the mini wizard modes AND escape Nublar during normal play? (Hint: there is a reason the mini wizard mode lamps strobe when you beat them )

I’m at 6.8 or 6.9. When the post is holding the ball in the control room and releases it I can hold the left flipper up and it just barely is able to settle onto the flipper and cradle for the next shot. When it comes faster out of the C lane after hitting the target I can usually hit it with the end of the left flipper.

I couldn’t agree more. I love the design and play of this game, and now getting a chance to play Escape Nublar without being good enough to get there myself very often is going to be awesome.

Thanks for putting this in the game Keith! I've got a Premium on order and this is going to really enhance my enjoyment of the game. Can you mention this idea to Lyman for ACDC? Encore would be perfect for this since it's already 3 balls and has a good amount of depth to it. Yeah, I know the points won't be nearly as high taking the shortcut, but it would still be a fun way to practice a wizard mode that I've only been to a handful of times.

#3829 4 years ago

This game!!! Okay my plan is to just get to the mode on normal playing, give me something to really shoot for... Then all bets are off, challenge mode accepted! Thanks Mr Elwin

Been to visitor center once, never been to Museum Mayhem, i think that's working through all the TREX modes?

Control Center mini goal is awesome too.

Escape Nebular, what a great idea and way for average players to actually have a chance to enjoy all facets of the games!!!

Elwin and his team get it!

Can you tell me more about this? How a beaten mini wizard would influence the wizard mode?
I don't own the game yet but would like to in the future. And these subtle things are important for me.

If the puzzle pieces fall into place at the end of your game when reaching the wizard, then it's a brilliant game. (like on twd where multikill values determine the value of horde shots, or played mode total values determine the value of terminus shots)

#3832 4 years ago

I can’t believe how good this game is and it’s still getting better!

Even the Visitor Centre wizard mode scoring is based on the number of paddocks that you visited on the way there (if you stick the outside of the map you can get there after visiting 4 paddocks, but if you zigzag through the map then you can visit up to 8 paddocks). This is in addition to the bonus you collect for getting to the VC which is based on fossils collected, rescues made, longest rescue streak, DNA collected and dinosaurs captured.

So I'd be very surprised if Escape Nebular (final wizard mode) doesn't work off your achievement from not only the paddocks but also the Visitor Centre, Museum Mayhem, Secure Control Room mini-wizard modes. And this is also why scoring would be different when enabling to just play the Escape Nebular wizard mode as you'd have none of those achievements to multiple the scoring.

I actually fixed the distortion sound today. Turned out to be the SD card in the game. I installed a new card with game code and it's aall good now.

I just posted a DIY T-Rex replacement mod and a DIY helicopters mod in the “Jurassic park mod” thread.
If anyone wants an option to the less then awesome original pro T-Rex then you can check it out.
Cost all done was about $15

A friend gave me his ModFather Amber shooter rod for working on his pins, so I did a little modding and lighted it up like the Stern one. I hooked it up to the same connector as the Stern one (CN15), so it is fully interactive with the game. No more waiting for Stern to make these available again!

I figured someone was going to try this. This would be a much more economical, and actually available, solution than Stern's.

Just curious, did you test it with amber LEDs before using the white ones? Looks good but it appears the color of the LEDs is washing away the amber color on the rod.

I just used white. It's not overly bright and doesn't wash out the amber color at all. The picture doesn't really show exactly how it looks - hard to capture it with a camera.

Just ordered a new premium JP! Now the wait begins. I hate waiting. Cointaker is hoping to get them in in about 2 weeks, here is to hoping I get one delivered by the third week of this month! Would be a nice valentines gift for the wife if they get in sooner.

Any suggestions on must do mods? I was thinking about a playfield protector. Already getting mirror blades and a shaker motor. I usually upgrade the speakers, not sure how food the premium ones are, this is my first. Also, for an external sub, is it best just to run jumper cables from the cabinet speaker to a powered sub?

Thank you!

#3841 4 years ago

Getting a new JP Pro very soon - going to put it on location.

Could I get any insight as to what might need extra tightening or perhaps loc-tite (blue) to keep it working?

I saw a post about the kinetic ball assembly earlier under the jeep that messed up. I'll be sure to check that out, but any others?

Thanks in advance!

shaker is nice upgrade, but it is pretty amazing right out of the box. I got a tilt topper on the way, but they are not being made anymore. I think the factory speakers are decent.

The ramp entry posts and the left front post at the entrance to the raptor pen have a tendency to come loose on mine and need retightening. I need to do blue loctite on them. My post guarding the upper right flipper hasn’t come loose yet but it’s another to think about.
