Played the Pro model at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and was absolutely blown away with this game. Hoping to order a table after the holiday season (And the PF issues hopefully settle), but picked up what will be a fun topper in the meantime

Code V0.91 - Anyone have MBs that stop mid-stream. Seems like when I'm in TREX and then hit CHAOS it plays till there's two/three balls left and then stops. Flippers dead. Balls drain. Bonus awarded. Next ball. Is this a bug?

Sounds like what happens when there's a bad optical sensor in the ball trough. Might want to check those sensors to see if that's what's causing it.

I have had the same issues in Chaos multi ball.
Happened more than once.
Only during Chaos multi ball though.
I thought it was a code issue, maybe not though.
Quoted from Munsters:For the upper flipper you have to double push the button, can this be changed by software?
That’s how the staging of flippers work.
You don't double push, you single push slightly harder to engage the second(staged) flipper. Same as all other games with staged flippers.

I am weak...
I couldn't wait until after the holidays and just ordered a JP3 Pro which should be delivered on Monday.

You are wise...
What better way to spend the holidays then playing pinball with family and friends.

I have seen this (premium.) I am guessing it is from starting the Raptor multiball from the smart missile. Because there was no ball in the raptor cage, it miscounts the balls and ends the ball when the second to last ball drains, or something like that.

Good luck. From what I heard today is that stern no longer doing populated playfield replacements.
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:Good luck. From what I heard today is that stern no longer doing populated playfield replacements.
They wouldnt send me one out . I just got a blank one. But at least I got a new playfield. Going to be a pain moving everything over though.

I asked about the pooling/chipping issues. The table is a recent manufacture date and is supposed to have the newer artwork spacing changes and the different clear coat. Hopefully there's no major problems and I can just enjoy the new table...

Wow, they didn't contract someone to do the swap for you?

I'd rather have the spare playfield on hand, and replace it if/when I felt it necessary. But, I am very mechanically inclined, and enjoy that kind of torture....lol
Nope. I am just going to hang onto it. My chipping is under the control plastic. So it's not that bad.

Same issue here on my LE. Happened twice. Can't recall what MB I was in, but it ended before all balls drained.

Shouldn't be too bad. If it was a repro playfield, it can be more of a PITA. On my F-14 restoration, I had problems with some holes not drilled in exactly the same place. A lot of tweaking was required.

Yours looks so great! I jumped on this wagon and ordered mine. Absolutely love this rod.

Had this happen this morning. I'm pretty sure it was because of this sequence of events:
1. Raptop cage gate open
2. Start chaos MB
3. hit back target on raptop cage
------a. lock post came up then went down (twice actually)
------b. game thought ball was locked in raptor cage
4. chaos MB continued but raptor gate was raised but no ball locked
5. get to 2 balls left in chaos, and chaos MB ends
6. get down to 1 ball left and flippers and lights go dead - game thinks you are out of balls
Also, little subwoofer porn for the morning! I hooked up a 5 way input selector to the 3 pins and my home theater (shared with my pins) and now I have my SVS PB12-NSD for bass. That thing barely fits under JP and is just as wide I have to keep it at about 25% gain, though, or at volume 10 on JP you can feel the floors shake upstairs when the T-rex roars.

I've had this happen to me once on mine as well...frustrating!! sk8ball Hey Keith, dont' know if you are aware of this bug....
For those better players out there than me (so literally everyone on this site)...Is the control room shot able to be hit with some regularity (if at all) from anything other than by trapping up first? For me, any time the ball has any speed coming down the right inlane I can never hit that shot. Closest I come is having the ball rattle around the control room opening. Is it a matter of practice, or can that shot only be made from a trap-up?

Have you tried lowering flipper power? I had the same trouble hitting it when I first got it but then lowered the flipper power and it was much more makable for me.

I saw last night that the default settings for the lower right flipper is set lower than left or upper right.

Yep, I think that default was changed in a code update.
Quoted from EaglePin:Yep, I think that default was changed in a code update.
Did you turn it down further from the new lower default in .91 code? I also have trouble hitting the control room shot off anything but a trap but I assumed it was because I'm just not that good...

I think I’ve left it at the new default. I think that new default was even lower than where I’d initially lowered it. I was thinking if the person having the problem hadn’t updated code they might want to try lowering flipper power. Could be something else too though. It’s definitely a tough shot to hit on the fly. I figured if the ball misses low (like hitting the sling) if I flip late when the ball is at the end of the flipper then there’s a spot somewhere further up the flipper to make the shot. I think it’s a small spot though
Quoted from EaglePin:Have you tried lowering flipper power? I had the same trouble hitting it when I first got it but then lowered the flipper power and it was much more makable for me.
Good to know. At this point I am only fortunate to be able to play this on location, but will keep this in mind when I can finally afford my first pro in April. Happy to hear that this can be adjusted. It seems to be the 1 shot that takes me out of the great flow of the rest of the table. Should really help complete some of those control room modes.

I just had something similar happen after T-Rex Multiball. Game went back to the standard game mode after TRMulti with 2 balls left in play. Lost one of the two and the game cycles - goes black and dead like after a ball - ball 2 drains and game continues to the subsequent ball if you aren’t on ball 3.
Weird.

Had this exact same thing happen last night
Hello from Melbourne,
I just placed my order for a JP premium which are shipping to Australia in early December. I'm super pumped for this pin as it's my first NIB.
What's the general concensus on the factory balls? I was surprised to hear that others had been replacing theirs as this wasn't something I had considered.
Any other first time NIB tips would be appreciated.
Thanks

The balls that come with new pins are just fine. No need to replace them. Just clean the oil off of them before you play. I use rubbing alcohol and paper towels.
Completely go through the pin, under the playfield, in the backbox, everywhere, checking all connections making sure that everything is nice and snug.
Get a digital torpedo level. Set the playfield level and try 6.5-6.8 incline. Don't trust the little bubble level in the shooter lane.
Have fun

Is this 6.5-6.8 a general Incline setting For modern pins or is this JP STERN specific?

Me too - I have the SVS PB16 Ultra. 175lb subwoofer
Quoted from rvdv:Anyone can tell me where/what the extraball
Shot is ? Just don’t see it
Right ramp (note the lights on the sign)
If I have non Pinheads over. Best way to get them started? Spell map. Then rescue? Then set trap ? Usually I point out mode shots on pins. This one you need to hit a few shots first so trying to have easy explanation

Working on something nice to make Extra Ball a bit special.
Ill have pictures next week, as Pin arrives tomorrow....Hopefully it will look perfect!

I usually tell them to hit the truck to spell Trex, then left ramp for Trex multiball. A paddock usually gets started inadvertently while doing that.

6.5 to 7 degrees is quite nominal for pinball machines.
Quoted from Mr_Outlane:No, it's nominal for pinball machines in general.
Cool thanks! I’ve always just adjusted bubble to the middle. Recently changed my DI to a less aggressive incline and my game play improved drastically

Don't trust the bubble level. Get a digital inclinometer or a phone app for getting your pitch. A standard bubble level is fine for side to side leveling. Test on playfield. Not glass.

Thank you for the knowledge! Much appreciated

I think the reality is just give them a look first. I've had both good and bad balls come with games. The ones that came with my JP3 were fine.
