Quoted from roar:If I want to watch a dinosaur eat something and flail its head around I'll put the movie in, if I want to play pinball, I'll play the pro. It was super cool to watch a couple of times, after that, it was just wasting my time.
Rather watch the T-rex waste my time than the up-post
To all you haters out there remember - without Stern being profitable we will have fewer pinball machines in 20 years. Anyone who owns even 1 machine must be doing at least ok to at least have enough credit or cash to buy one pinball machine. Really all that matters is that they (Stern) keep churning out decent games that people may want to to play and/or buy.
As for anyone trying to turn their machine into more money -the collector game…is a game. Play the game correctly and you may have some wins along with some losses…it’s part of the game.
Looking forward to the reveal tomorrow.
Let Stern do what it wants to do, if people want to buy it great and if they don't think it's worth it, don't buy it. It's not hurting anybody. More pinball is a good thing.
Quoted from Killermarmot:Lift up the playfield and under the truck there's a little fan shaped metal bracket that triggers the opto, looks like it's just on backwards or came loose. Pull it and make sure the set screw is secure.
Opto flag was upside down, thanks for your help!

Quoted from EaglePin:Lesson learned on Stern LE's. There's no need to buy an initial Stern LE run anymore.
Only if you want to like, play it instead of waiting four years.
Quoted from yancy:Only if you want to like, play it instead of waiting four years.
I think you have to ask yourself "How much am I willing to pay to have a gillion+1 different pins available instead of the currently available gillion?"
There are already many, many pins available today. It's a HUGE premium to just pay to get early access to that specific pin. I think that mentality will make it hard for a person to get ahead financially. Like paying a huge premium for today's technology when last years technology is much cheaper...and pretty freaking awesome.
Quoted from Eulenstein:I am very disappointed. I miss the times where Gary has led the business.
You mean like when they almost went out of business and made stuff like NBA? Gotta love Gary, but I'll take the last few years of games over the first 25 years of Data East / Sega / Stern.
Quoted from rai:Let Stern do what it wants to do, if people want to buy it great and if they don't think it's worth it, don't buy it. It's not hurting anybody. More pinball is a good thing.
To a point, yes. But Stern is really starting to cross a line in going against their own original marketing materials, and those materials are used when people decide what model to buy. If Stern's feature matrix says a feature will only come with a certain model, it influences people's buying decisions if that's a feature they want and it isn't going to be available on another model
Let's put it this way. If Stern marketing materials for a game said only the 500 or 1,000 or however many LEs would have mirrored back glass, but then a couple years later sold a mirrored back glass separately it would be a BS move. This really is the same principal.
This isn't about resale value or price in any way. It's about making statements that influence people's buying decisions and then later going against what they said in that original marketing.
- The original Jurassic Park LE feature matrix said the LE included "Limited Edition illuminated mirrored back glass with stunning and distinctive hand drawn art".
- The original Elvira LE/SLE feature matrix said it included "Signature & Limited Edition Elvira themed illuminated mirrored back glass with stunning and distinctive hand drawn art by Greg Freres"
That was generic wording saying mirrored back glass with hand drawn art would only be with those original models, and they didn't specify that it was limited to just that particular art design on the glass.
But then Stern goes and does another 500 machines of each game that also have mirrored back glass that fits the same description used in the original flyers.
Bottom line is the mirrored glass on the new ones fits the the description used in the original flyers, so Stern has busted trust on that original marketing material.
Similar thing happened with the Bond 60th flyer saying it had an exclusive Union Jack shooter knob. And now they're selling the same shooter knob as an accessory for the cornerstone Bonds.
It's slimy, and Stern is starting to make slimy marketing a habit.
Quoted from yancy:Only if you want to like, play it instead of waiting four years.
Could buy a different model and play it in the meantime. Or wait the four years. But either way a person should be able to make an informed decision using marketing points from Stern that can be relied on and that Stern holds to.
I like Stern pinball machines. My collection history shows it. But just because I like their machines doesn't mean I'll give them a pass on using deceptive marketing.
Quoted from EaglePin:But just because I like their machines doesn't mean I'll give them a pass on using deceptive marketing.
If you choose to fall for the marketing of false scarcity, you're already the sucker, even if they stay true to their word. Buy stuff you like because you like it.
Quoted from VisitorQ:Movie code question.
Is there movie code for the latest version of the game and can it be used with IC?
I've got IC in GZ and EHOH and honestly couldn't be bothered retrofitting it to JP or BKSOR. So I run 1.05 custom code no issues still.
Quoted from yancy:If you choose to fall for the marketing of false scarcity, you're already the sucker, even if they stay true to their word. Buy stuff you like because you like it.
Has absolutely nothing to do with scarcity. I truly have no issue with how many units of something are produced. So I do buy based on the features I like.
Again, my history shows it and I don't turn my games over much. I bought a Bond pro because I like that game more than the premium/LE. I buy to hold, play, and enjoy. But what model I buy is based on what features are stated at the time of sale.
Stern saying they're putting something on only one model but then later adding it to another one just plain isn't right. The buyer might have made a different decision and waited for the next model if the features were originally listed as they truly played out in the models offered.
Quoted from JMCFAN:A piece of black electrical tape covering bottom half of opto fixed mine. Search the forum... lots of pics etc. easy fix
I put a washer on the back metal bracket to raise it up a little bit more and that seemed to help a ton! 9/10 times it registers! ha I'll get a slightly larger one and I think it will fix that last little bit, Thanks a ton appreciate the response!
Quoted from golfergordy:I've completed my fix for the misaligned raptor - I cut out a small piece of clear 3/32" thick plastic from a sheet that I bought from one of the pinball parts vendors about 2-yrs ago. I then drilled a hole in this plastic for the #6-32 screw that holds the plastic in place, and I installed this piece under the factory clear plastic immediately to the left (as looking from the player's position) of the raptor so that it sticks out approx. 1/4" and pushes into the raptors hip to slightly re-align the raptor so that its front paws can now go up & down into the ball lock area w/o touching the plastics on the sides of the lock, which is what the raptor is suppose to be able to do if it were installed correctly in the factory (which apparently many were not, according to how many posts there are on this subject). Also, I replaced the factory #6-32x3/8" screw with a #6-32x5/8" screw and lock washer to accommodate the thickness of the extra plastic piece.
This fix works, but some might say that it looks sloppy and is obviously not part of the original design of the game, which I might agree with. I have owned this game for over 2-months and have many plays on the game (along with my wife and 2 of my sons) and none of us have ever even noticed that the raptor wasn't working properly until I read complaints about it on this forum, and I don't think that the new fix piece of plastic will be noticed by a player either. I think the best fix is to remove the plastic, which the raptor's feet are attached to, and shim up the raptor's right foot enough to re-align the raptor to straighten out the problem, but removing this plastic looks like it might be quite involved. If I ever remove this plastic for another reason I'll then also do the shim fix for the raptor, but until then I'll live with my current fix.
The pics show: 1)the raptor with its right paw touching the plastic (prior to the fix), 2)the new piece of plastic, 3)the new plastic installed, and 4&5)the raptor's front paws now have enough clearance to not touch the plastics covering the sides of the ball lock.

Wow, I did the exact same thing with a piece of metal. I originally had the raptor heat gunned but over time he leaned back to the lockup position. I like your approach and think it looks great. It definitely work 100% of the time on mine as I'm sure it does on yours as well. Nice writeup!...Should be a KEY POST
Wow....you would hope for 13k you'd at least get non black trim along the back box. Come on Stern...
And remember kiddies...Stern probably had Mr. Crap draw multiple translites back in the day so you're now getting the one that was originally rejected LoL.
Quoted from yancy:If you choose to fall for the marketing of false scarcity, you're already the sucker, even if they stay true to their word. Buy stuff you like because you like it.
I lost the FOMO bug after this last shit-show of releases..from Scooby to GF, to Foo to Galactic, to Pulp..it wore my Fomo out..hash tag = blessing in disguise
Quoted from yancy:You mean like when they almost went out of business and made stuff like NBA?
I actually meant the last few years until the change of management. Things may have gotten better from the company's point of view, but unfortunately not for the customers. That's just the way business is. I now think twice before buying a new game, or I'd rather not buy at all. As a buyer I want to feel comfortable with a product. But that's just my opinion.
This new LE is a joke. Glad I got a pro and saved 6k. How can anyone see value beyond a pro. There’s no justification to spend more. I think stern needs to hire some real marketing people and redesign the way they conduct business. If you have an LE keep the numbers low to show that it really is an LE. 500-1000 to me is not LE, there’s only so many in the market for these. I paid 7k for my pro which is a lot as it is. If the price keeps going up I will not buy new again. Stern and all the others need to lower the prices otherwise they will be sitting on all their machines

I wish all the new owners the best. We have a JPLE and it does not bother us in the slightest that Stern are making more editions of the game.
Enjoy your pro and be happy for others to enjoy their purchases. No one is happy about pricing but I do not think it is coming down anytime soon.
Quoted from Thunderbird:[quoted image]
Does it make me a bad person that I like the original cabinet better?
I personally don't think these will sell out.
Everyone who wants a Jurassic Park already has a Jurassic Park.
Just look how many premiums are for sale in the marketplace right now.
The 13k LE is from a covid pricing model. We are long past that now.
I bought my JP premium (2 years ago) for $7800.
Anyway my pins are so close together I can’t see the side art except when I set the game up.
My feeling is at least Stern had made a good number of premium runs leading up to the 30th run. Unlike Elvira which was not run as often and never had a pro option. My point is people have had the ability to buy JP for a long time. This seems to be a cosmetic option like AcDc Luci or SW comic. I think Stern just made it another LE to charge extra (like the Elvira 40th).
I think it’ll sell out but it’s not going to sell out quickly because so many people already have a JP.
Quoted from Trekkie1978:I personally don't think these will sell out.

Several Premiums and LE's just hit marketplace because people are wanting to upgrade to the 30th edition. And there's only 500 of these, so I'd bet that they do sell out.

Here's the deal: We can't control what others do, we can only control what WE do. If you're that upset, ok, prove it: Stop. Buying. Stern. Or their LEs. Or whatever. THAT is how you send a message that gets heard.
I've heard too many people complain about manufacturers...and then keep giving them money. It can't be both ways. Either support them (which is fine) or don't support them (also fine).

Nobody at the current asking prices when you can get a NIB delivered to your door for MSRP. Sellers are still a bit delusional IMO. They'll come around to the new reality eventually.

LE buyers realizing their precious LE's aren't so special is wild to see. Buying LE's is silly and always has been silly. You pay a couple thousand extra for barely tarted up premiums, its not some highly precious collectors item. They made 500 JP LE's, they're making 500 of these. Either one of these will be more "rare" than any of the current LE's that they make 1000 of. This kind of stuff happens all the time in other markets. Here's the top model, now heres a special edition, now heres another special edition. Ya'll gotta realize having an LE isn't all that special. Its cool you want the "top" model, and were able to secure one to purchase, but thats where it all ended. JP is an in demand game, now more people can buy it if they want and HOT TAKE that should actually be ice cold: Your LE is still the same thing its always been, you just have a hard time swallowing that pill.

Some new code updates coming to all owners. That’s great news. Hopefully features like coop and team play make it into every Stern release.
Whoa!! That code update announcement is incredible!
I gotta say…feels like a classy move there. Some great updates for everyone that was funded by 500 machines feels like a fair trade.
Nice to see new code for everyone. Might be an issue for those with the movie code, but I'm interested in checking out the co-op:
To celebrate this milestone anniversary, the team at Stern has created a software update available for all existing versions of the game. The update offers new ways to play; including Co-Op Play, Team Play, and a 30th Anniversary Insider Connected Quest. The update also brings additional polish and refinement throughout the game experience. Co-Op Play gives players the unique ability to collaborate in order to escape Isla Nublar and reach the ultimate wizard mode, “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth!” Team Play allows players to challenge each other in any combination of 1 to 4 players. The new 30th Anniversary Quest will be available to users as part of Stern’s award-winning Insider Connected™ system. The Quest will challenge players to collect Dinosaur DNA strands throughout the game to create amazing dinosaurs and earn badges. Registration for Insider Connected is available for free at insider.sternpinball.com.

I've got the movie code and love it. I'm interested to see what's new in the code update, but think I'll probably leave it as is.
So can I install ic on my machine and go back and forth between my movie code and the new expanded code via a card swap? Or does adding ic brick it somehow?
Game trailer is live - gives a sample of some of the new animations coming to every game (not just LEs)
"Catch a sneak preview of the special new code update with the design team this Friday (18th) by subscribing to the Stern YouTube channel!"
While new code updates would be nice, it's just a peace offering since they knew this release would upset a lot of people. I don't like where things seem to be headed with uninspired cash grab releases like this and pricing in general. Between the ridiculous NIB pricing and the continued devaluing of the resale market, my desire to make any more pinball acquisitions is waning. I believe in sparking change with my wallet, let them have a few releases where people don't bite and they will rethink their strategy.
Quoted from paynemic:So can I install ic on my machine and go back and forth between my movie code and the new expanded code via a card swap? Or does adding ic brick it somehow?
I’m curious about this too if someone who knows can comment. I believe the new code (post movie code) does some node board updates so I just wonder once you go higher and node board updates if you can go back to the movie code chip? Will the node update roll back if you put the movie code back in or is this just not possible?
Quoted from Pinball-Cruiser:While new code updates would be nice, it's just a peace offering since they knew this release would upset a lot of people.
They're giving me, an owner of a Premium that I bought more than a year ago, new, FREE code that makes the game better. I have spent $0.
That seems like good news to me, not bad news.
Quoted from Haymaker:LE buyers realizing their precious LE's aren't so special is wild to see. Buying LE's is silly and always has been silly.
Buying an LE now may be silly in terms of value but that absolutely has not always been the case. The price difference between Godzilla Premium and LE was $1500. For that price you got art blades, side armor, mirrored black glass, shaker motor, HD glass and better decals. While that doesn’t represent $1500 in value it’s fairly close and you were also getting rarity. When stern bumped the difference between models on Bond to basically flipper pricing it changed the value proposition significantly. In the old pricing structure I don’t see releasing new LE variants as that big of deal, but now that stern is pricing way beyond the extras it’s a crappy move that makes LEs less appealing.
