Quoted from Grayont:

If you go with Cactus Canyon you will have a more complete and rounded collection in my opinion.

Well I was considering it based on some reviews, but after playing it a few times I don't think it's the right game for me to have at home. I much prefer Monster Bash. Still looking to play AFM, MM, TZ and a few others from that era.

That said, I ultimately have room for 4 pinballs (ok - maybe 5!). So I think there is room for both Godzilla and JP.

Quoted from trueno92:

Id ditch godzilla because pretty much everyone has one.

I've only had Godzilla for about 3 months and 450 games so far. Not ready to ditch it yet. Honestly, I see why it's ranked so highly - it's an amazing game. Still putting a few mods on it, and trying to get further in the game. I'm not going to say it's bolted to the floor, but I don't see it going anywhere soon.

Quoted from NoDisclaimer:

I chose the JP premium mostly because of local market conditions. When a premium comes up on CL or marketplace they get snapped up immediately while the the pro's seem to sit forever.

Thanks for this advice. Makes sense to me.

Quoted from NoSkills:

I have a premium, if I could go back in time I'd have got a pro and pocketed the extra cash. I play a lot and the t-rex got boring after a while, I switch it off now when playing alone, guests absolutely love it though. I do much prefer the raptor area and art on the premium.

This is very helpful. Thanks!

I agonized over pro or premium for Godzilla, and ultimately went pro because there was one available 30 miles from me with low plays and a reasonable price. I figured I could always upgrade down the line if I wanted. But I was itching to to buy my first pin, so I just went for it. I'll probably keep my eye out for JP similarly. I mainly play alone, or with my daughter. I think from that perspective the pro would be fine. Less to break is also a positive. But if a premium pops up, I think the cool toys are probably worth it. (I'll have to take a longer look at the artwork)

So I know there was also some mention about getting an earlier game. That is definitely in the cards. I kind of have my heart set on a BSD, but there are a few others I'm looking out for as well. So we'll see. Finding the right thing that's in good shape and relatively close (1-2 hours from Boston) is not as easy as I would like.

Really appreciate the feedback! Thanks!

CCr is fun and the cabinet/quality are top notch but I think JP is a significantly better game. Personal opinion.

Monster Bash I would still like to get - super fun. A couple of them have come up locally this month but no money no space. I feel like AFM and MM remakes are too rich for my blood.

A shout out to hawknole for some nice magnetized apron cards.

For a Pro model with plastic apron you’ll probably want to use double sided tape.

Well done. I really like the variety of mb modes in this game with add a balls or ability to control the jackpot locations.

Does anybody have any good pictures that they have used to print alternative translite for JP?
I have the premium and I’d like to get a cooler translite printed.
I’m not trained in photoshop to put something together.

I also disliked the premium translite, but wanted something that matched the artwoork 100% so I went with the home translite:

I know it’s a pretty standard issue on the shooter lane ramp, but wanted to ask, does this look correct? I’ve circled an area that I thought I fixed. Initially, I was getting rejects up the shooter lane ramp, but that flap that is circled was in front (not tucked in behind). It was not secure anywhere and flapping around and with slow-mo video, that’s what seemed to be causing rejects up the ramp. So I tucked it back behind the ramp (how it is now) where I thought it belonged. I’m about 80% success up the ramp now on the auto launch. I’d sure, like to get to 100% though, and thought I’d start by seeing if how it is now is how it’s supposed to be.

Thanks for the links. Those are some good images for stock translites.
I’m kinda looking to have something extra bad ass done for it. Not just a stock translite. Wish I had photoshop skills and I’d make a custom one.
I’ve got a local print shop that can print the proper materials. Just need an image.

The flap is meant to be in front. I’ve never managed to get my auto launch 100% on JP, even after trying all the suggested fixes. My GZ launch was 100% fixed with the shooter lane extra piece of hardware, would be awesome if someone created something that worked the same for JP!

Interesting and thank you! When mine was on the outside, it was flapping around and disrupting the ball. Maybe it was bent out. Is there something that is meant to hold it back so it's not flopping around? It would seem to make sense so the ball isn't hitting that edge.

#15917 64 days ago

you can bend that piece with some creativity to overlap the scoop 180 ramp thing.

For those that are having 180 ramp rejects, I found your best fix is to remove the metal shooter lane ramp, flatten the grade and gently bend it so it angles from where the cut is on the side. You would see it when the metal ramp is removed.

the issue in slow mo looks like

the fix performs like this:

also, i found adjusting the autoplunge to ~210-220 from the factory 190 did the trick for mine.

Thank you, I'm trying the washer under the left fork trick as well to try to level.

EDIT - that washer under the left fork changed everything. works perfect now.

SDTM Dribble Drains:

I sometimes get frustrating, slow-roll SDTM drains from either of two spots on the playfield:

1. The corner formed by the Tower's lower ballguide and the left edge of the Supplies target

2. The pocket formed by the Jeep's ball and the left-side post of the right ramp.

If, in a Smart Missile attempt, I rattle the ball into that gap between the Jeep's ball and the post, the ball will stop short, then trickle out of the pocket and go SDTM. Or, if the ball somehow comes to rest on that corner formed by the end of the Tower's ballguide and the Supplies target, it will trickle off and go SDTM.

Elwin layouts often have what I call high shelves - places where the ball can rest for a second and then roll off, taking a long, graceful trip down to the flippers. Zilla has one one on the right at the end of the loop ballguide.

My JP is set up with 7-degrees of pitch. This is the minimum pitch required to allow roll passes.

Are the rest of you dealing with drains of this kind? You skilled nudgers out there can probably beat these drains with a timed nudge the instant before the ball rolls off the ledge. Or perhaps not.

What the Heck?

I just had a strange scoring experience in T-Rex Rampage mode.

From Tilt Forums:

"Shoot the left or right ramp to lower the T-Rex, then shoot the left ramp to collect 10M (+5M per left ramp shot). Shooting the Raptor Tower or Helipad prior to the left ramp will multiply the award by 3x or 2x, respectively, and the two multipliers can be stacked for a 6x multiplier. You can repeat this sequence an unlimited amount of times until the mode timer expires, and completing the sequence three times collects a Fossil when either the timer expires or you drain."

I stacked it with a multiball, although I don't recall which - either CHAOS! or Tri-Ball. It was very late in a long game, and I had been through the Visitors Center and Invalid Frenzy. The jackpots were massive and strangely stacked. The game behaved like it was stuck in a loop, like it was tallying dozens of jackpots in *very* rapid succession each time one was collected. Correspondingly, the explosion sequence on the display stuttered/flickered like it was briefly stuck in a loop and the audio did the same. Even factoring in all the possible PF scoring multipliers, I don't see how the jackpots were so massive. All the switches in my game work properly as far as I know. They all test fine in Switch Test in the diagnostic part of my service menu.

When the dust settled, I saw this mode score...

I consider my game setup perfectly dialed in, i dont get many outlanes at all, but once in a while i get that stdm from behind the leftside of that ramp - but i also hit that missle target > 50% of the time, prob my fave shot in the game followed by the tower shot - make sure u hit the action button so u can choose your reward for hitting the missle shot: Raptor Multiball, extra ball and INVALID? frenzy are on the table depending what else has been earned.

Getting back to ur stdm, ive gotten used to slide saving them if i can... and i think its part of a pinball skillset that Keith Elwin expects the player to have, hence the high shelves to have enough time to react.

slap/nudge the flipper its closest to. can usually nudge your way out of this situation, plenty of time to prepare as it's slowly coming off the "shelves".

When do you do the nudge? ASAP / high up the playfield?

Quoted from scootss:

Yes…nudge the ball as it’s touching the side of the ramp or the target just before it rolls off the high point of your shelf diagram. Once you get used to doing this it becomes muscle memory and easier and easier.

If the game is registering way more jackpots than you are physically hitting and your score goes wildly out of wack and keeps accumulating beyond reason, then there's clearly a switch or an opto that's registering incorrectly.

I need some help figuring out how to figure out what screw/post to replace.

I had the upper post next connected to the right slingshot completely snap when I was trying to tighten it and need to replace it. I've scoured the jurassic park manual and I can't seem to figure out exactly what part I need to buy. It appears to be slightly under 2.5" and this post/stud from pinball life appears to be pretty close, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to tell the thread count: https://www.pinballlife.com/machine-poststud-530-5008-00.html

That PBL threaded stud should be the correct one for that sling post.

Buy a few; always good to have some spares in your parts box. Grab a t-nut or 3 while you are at it.

Depends, but when available I try to go Raptor MB, that will light another control room

And then Extra ball when available.

If I am in TRex padock, I'll go for clear padock.

The smart missile shot will only be lit when the truck is blocking the shot. Designed that way.

I usually pick +5 Rescues. This then lights EB on the right ramp and also re-lights Smart missile. Then I pick EB. I usually don't get both but it does happen on the rare occasion. Lets you stack 2 EB early on.

BTW the grace timer is very generous on this shot. You can make the shot right up until the fail animation has ended. So this means as it's telling you that you failed, you can still make the shot. I do that often.

Is this true? I swore I’ve seen people have the truck facing so the captive ball is on the left side making the lane more open and starting and collecting the smart missile shot.

Quoted from KneeKickLou:

That can happen during MB. The truck HAS to face left(blocking the shot) when the ball rolls down the left inlane. This will trigger the smart missile event (which can take time to display as it usually gives you queued animations first) but as you are playing MB you can then flip the truck before the ball gets released for the shot.

Alternatively if your truck optos are faulty the game could give smart missile when it *thinks* the truck is pointing left.

I’d say when it’s in flipper range, choose the side that it’s closest to, and slap it so that the flipper activates at the same time as the nudge (from the slap) goes in that direction. Should be able to get enough rubber on it to keep it alive. All depends on the tilt settings as well, if no tilt just manhandle the machine over! The slap method seems to minimize the tilting as it’s quick. I’m not a pro by any means but nudging just comes with experience. I didn’t realize how much I did it it until I tried to play with a sprained wrist, hardly possible.

Quoted from dirkdiggler:

I just discovered yesterday that you can change the smart missile reward. Wondering what you guys usually choose? Not that I hit it very often. Truck always seems to be on right direction and I brick the shot. However it is very satisfying to occasionally slip one thru

It’s not instant gratification, but I usually choose +5 rescues (carries more points throughout the game, maybe in bonus, as I understand), and then extra ball the next time.

Quoted from MrMikeman:

I usually pick +5 Rescues. This then lights EB on the right ramp and also re-lights Smart missile. Then I pick EB. I usually don't get both but it does happen on the rare occasion. Lets you stack 2 EB early on.

I actually pulled this off yesterday. Was very satisfying but i was off on my game and wasted both EBs. Ha

Finally blew it up tonight after about 2400 plays...7 fossils (previous best was 3) and I made it to secure control room for the first time! No visitors center or museum mayhem (have only reached those a couple times each). This game doesn't get old.

Hey guys I’m a bit late to the party it seems but I finally pre-ordered a JP premium today! It’s my 2nd pin. Should be great next to my Godzilla premium. I’m looking for accessories. I’ve found/bought what I was looking for EXCEPT the side armor. Does everywhere I look I see they’re sold out. Anyone know where I could find one? Or will they make more? Ohhh and I know they’ll make more too but shaker motors too. I want the stern brand. I bought an off-brand for my Godzilla and after 2 games I immediately ripped it out. If anyone knows where I can find either please let me know! Thanks!

The lit amber shooter rod is arguably the best mod, it really fits with the whole movie and game.

You can check at https://www.greatamericanpinball.com/contact-us for the above shooter rod, I posted a few pages back that when I bought mine from there, they had a lot on hand. He may have the side armour our as well, but I don’t know for sure.

I got a set of armour from Hemispheres pinball a while back, and had some in stock, so I’d suggest checking there.

Great game, enjoy.

Dude, how? Lol

Yeah I’m struggling a lot with it too, and had it for months. Set software install to very easy and outlanes closed up, but still just brutal. This week finally set it to 5 balls, and still not making good progress. But on Godzilla I can break a billion a few times. Just feeling like a total novice on this one! Somehow I got a score of 600k at one point months ago, no idea how…
