Quoted from Lermods:

I will get a new pic tonight when I get home from work. Honestly, I think it's just a reflection and the game looked really nice overall. If that indeed is pooling, it's minor and can easily be addressed with a washer. Please hold off on jumping to definitive conclusions. I'm very happy with the initial condition.

Was there a new picture posted?

#1002 4 years ago
Quoted from Lermods:

Other mods also available and more coming for those interested.

We need a much more realistic T-Rex Head to replace this Dollar Store factory toy (with interactive lighted eyes instead of mouth).
It could be made out of latex and be very realistic and therefore not vulnerable to air ball damage.

Sorry, I have been pretty busy. There, in fact, was slight pooling, it was not a reflection. It was barely noticeable except on zoom. The little post had no washer under it so I removed it and added a small rubber washer, hand tightened it down. I also removed the large metal washer under the larger star post, no damage there, but I preferred a rubber washer that didn’t stick out so far or look as bad.

Only two Canadian launch parties and one of them is in Saskatchewan? Because Saskatchewan is such a booming hub?
Nothing going on in Vancouver or Toronto though? Very odd choice. No offence Saskatchewan.

You can only have the launch party, if you have the game at your location.
No one else is getting it in time for the Launch around me either.

Why does a TRex need LEDs though? I dont feel like Keith's games need much modding. I modded the hell out of my Metallica which is pretty much your standard layout. Maiden is so unique I never felt it needed much extra. I feel the same way about JP. He games speak for themselves. Toys arent necessary. That being said I'll probably grab a pro and still swap out the 2d dinos for 3d toys just so they kind of match the TRex better. I cant wait to play this with a well incorporated shaker motor.

They had it at the Toronto CNE Aug 16-18. They are around.

Lighting the trex mouth and the ramp underneath gives a better indication of when he needs to be hit, otherwise it’s not always as clear. Stern should have done this at the factory.

Big blinking arrow insert in front of it not enough?

#1009 4 years ago

My post replacement...
Used a Titan post as they are sticky and bouncy.
Sidenote: If you took apart the flipper mech I'm quite certain you could put a locking nut underneath.
This game currently gets 200+ plays a week.

Ah yes, a realistic dinosaur with light coming out of its mouth. Of course.

If you don't like the mod then don't buy it. I'm not getting it, but I do like a lot of Lermods backboard and trough kits, etc. Why pound the guy on a forum when he makes great things a lot of people like? Just skip it and be done with it.

Ya, it's a pinball machine.

#1014 4 years ago

So, not realistic then. Got it.

#1015 4 years ago

So no light then? Just don't plug it in. Or sell the mod with or without the LED. Everyone is happy!

I think putting lights in the TRex is a good idea. Green eyes with blood red mouth.

Game froze 3 times on me today.

All playfield lights out and display frozen.

Had to power off.

I set up my born-on-Aug21 JP2 this morning before heading off for the weekend. No issues that I could see, but I snapped pics for the thread anyway. I had a small panic when I thought I saw a long crack in the inlane clear, that turned out to be the edge of the mylar.

CoolCatPinball beat me to the raptor mod. I knew it was going to look great there. I’m considering whether to replace the T-Rex with this awesome Papo model. Will post pics of my success or failure. I think the smaller T-Rex is more the right scale for the broken fence. I’d stick his butt and tail back through the head-hole.

Also interested to know what part number that post with the longer thread is.. need to tighten the one on location every few days.. blue loctite doesn’t work..torquing it down just fucks up the playfield.. good times..

If you remove the T-Rex head, what's behind it?

Two screw holes that it’s held on with.

Mine has an August 19 date and I see no issues either

Ah yeah. If there’s not a hole in the backboard, I’ll just cut Rex in half with my tablesaw. My golden rule is: “all mods must be reversible”.

Is there art behind it or a blank spot you have to fill in?

August 19th date for mine and it has small blistering(whatever we call it) around the upper flipper post

I've had it for years in my spare parts, it was either marco or pinball life.

Finally had a breakthrough game at 350 million. Advanced to the compys paddock. I have never modded any of my machines but replacing that raptor will be my first.

Almost 200 games and have not seen the pooling get worse or crack. My Munsters has about 350 plays and pooling but no cracks or chipping.

On the fence on how this would look since a lil smaller than stock...
Any pics of it installed?

Nope, I had to leave town right after setting it up. I’m hoping to work on it Tuesday after work.

I’m having a weird issue. The left flipper seems to have lost holding power - I noticed that a ball bouncing off of it made it tip downward rather than holding steady.

The right flipper is solid and holds well.

Video demonstrating the issue:

https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B11J8GySPJrHq90;FF429EA0-50CF-40B7-8882-90D1823A0B7D

I have confirmed the voltage matches on both flippers when engaged.
I have confirmed that the EOS switch is open when the flipper is in the top position, and closed when it’s not.
I have confirmed that the pawl nut is extremely tight, and the flipper bat is not loose.

What else is left? What could this be? I believe anathematize saw the same issue earlier in the thread.

Update: Found the cause - broken coil stop on the flipper. Pillaged one from Star Wars and I’m back up for now!

#1049 4 years ago

Sounds like ordering a couple extra coil stops is a good idea to keep around for when one randomly shits the bed.

The post by my third flipper keeps getting loose. I’m going to have to dig in on this tomorrow.

Finally got the majority of the raptor pit hang ups solved. Now this is my last little complaint of this game.

I ordered 5 coil stops in my "be prepared" stuff I mentioned a few posts back. Apparently it's not uncommon for them to break. Who knew..... I've had a Ripleys for years, and a Guardins for a while now and never had an issue.
