Not much a fan of Sterns (see my collection). I am not a fan of movie reboots. The idea of rebooting a pinball from a rebooted movie (and machine) after almost 25 years strikes me as pathetic. That said, the new JP is an excellent machine that integrates the movie and game play damn near perfectly. You want shots? Its got it! You want ramps? Its got it! You want flow? Its got it! You want theatrics? Its got it! Hell it even gives some some reverence to the original DE machine and inserts witty humor (sorely lacking on many modern machines). It only took Stern 20 years to topple Bally/Williams, but the king is Dead! Long live the king! I adore the Elvira franchise (and the past two games), but something happened to a machine supposedly designed by Nordman. If it was designed Eddy I could understand it. Straight ramps and a wide open playfield?!? WTF happened? (look up Dr. Dude, White Water, or any other "party" game). Obviously you should go with what ever machine tickles your fancy. LW3 is one of my favorite machines (anyone who knocks it can piss off). If Elvira is your cup of tea, GO FOR IT! If you are on the fence and are actually wanting input on what to go for, my money says JP (spring for the premium)! This rant was not a back handed complement to JP either (seriously, this is great game). Either way, good flipping to you and have fun!
