Make sure your scoop isnt cracked too, If it is the ball will sit too low. A new one will hold the ball up a little higher. I replaced mine and now he picks it up perfect every time. But mine is the stock rex.
He'll get to it eventually. It'll be worth the wait and oh so sweet.
Life gets in the way of this kind of thing sometimes.

I know you had mentioned that you still had a couple of the cast models that you may paint and sell, the 3D printed looks like it is very comparable, is there any advantage to either one looks or material wise?
