Hi there,

First off, thank you for all the help you guys have given me over my first few years of being in this hobby. I love pinball!!!

Ok, so I am trying to help a friend fix his Data East Jurassic Park.

I have a few weird intermittent problems. During gameplay the ball gets stuck in the Right VUK after putting the ball in the upper-right Scoop (Power Shed)

- The switch for the Right VUK doesn't seem to respond properly. It does work ... but not all of the time. Also, if you click it rapidly by hand, it only registers once for every 4 or 5 times the switch physically clicks. I have already tried 3 switches to rule out the switch itself.

- I have since noticed that the Left scoop switch also behaves like this.

- Most other switches on the machine register every time you hit the switch (when clicked rapidly)

Any help on where to look would be appreciated.

Thanks

check the connection for the switch - sometimes they go bad.
Some times the switch needs to be cleaned or it goes bad also

Have you tried cleaning the switches

Make sure it's not an alignment issue and the ball is fully closing the switch. You can test by putting a DMM in diode/continuity mode across the switch and closing it (game off of course).

Those two switches are on completely different rows and columns, so it's probably not a problem with the playfield wiring.

Check and clean the CN8 and CN10 connectors.

Thanks for answering. Already checked alignment and the CN8 and CN10 connectors. Also ... installed new switches ... so I know they are not bad.

***Another problem ... most likely not related ... but would love it if it is.

My friend has been having an intermittent problem with the auto ball launch. It has become more frequent with this other problem.

- DURING COIL TEST I just noticed that BOTH the Ball Launch and the VUK coils don't always fire. Was kind of hilarious. One cycle, the VUK fired ... but the Auto Plunge didn't. The next, neither fired. The next, Auto Plunge fired ... but VUK didn't!

Is there a correlation?

Check continuity from Auto Plunge Coil to Power Board. Checked out fine.

Thanks

WAAAAA HOOOOO!!!

My buddy's machine is flying!

I am about 95% sure I know how it was fixed ... though I tried a few things at the same time before testing the game again.

For those who have a similar problem ... here is my suggestion to you for the future:

Check the fuses on the Power Board. I believe it was a classic case of a flaky Data East fuse holder.

I do stand slight confused because of the following:

- During COIL Diagnostics the DMD reads 50volts for both the right VUK and the Ball Launch.
- The Manual reads +32 volts.
- The fuse for +50 volts is paired to the flippers ... but they were alwaus working
- Problem was fixed after I messed with the +34 volt fuse holders on the Power Board.

Machine works 100%.

As always thanks to those who chimed in!

Cheers,
Hoser
