Thanks for your pics and directions!
I have an idea for the epoxy issue you had with the fly floating to the top.
Maybe poor just enough epoxy to slightly cover the fly then wait for it to cure enough that it's not moving around then you can fill up the cap with the epoxy to your desired level.
Maybe this will help that issue.
