Installed Rock914's acrylic mod today and it looks fantastic! 
Please note that I had to shorten 2 screws (one on each ramp bracket) to prevent them from hitting the new LED strip. I can't say if these were original screws, but they protruded through the acrylic pretty far. Others may not encounter this, but you'll want to check if you see any holes located directly over the LED strip.
Here are some pics, though my cell phone doesn't do justice to how well this looks. The backboard doesn't actually look as glaring as the one picture makes it seem. Thanks again, Rock914.

Supports were off mine also when I got it and I would wedge foam under the pf too. Then I found the mounting holes were there, so a previous owner must've taken them off.
Get new (and improved) ones from Mantis. Soooo much better than wedging foam under there
