I recently saw someone post that they had replaced the black wood at the back of the machine with acrylic so I decided to do the same. Looks great. Let me know if you need any tips about doing this as its easy to crack the acrylic.
Thumbs up T-Rex topper!SL746740.JPGSL746740.JPGSL746741.JPGSL746741.JPGSL746743.JPGSL746743.JPGSL746748.JPGSL746748.JPGSL746749.JPGSL746749.JPGSL746759.JPGSL746759.JPGSL746760.JPGSL746760.JPG

I had this cut by a company here in NZ and it was $10 for the piece of acrylic and for them to cut it. When drilling use an electric drill with a blunt drill bit going very fast(Drill goes fast but you go slow). Its not the tip thats the problem but the edges of the drill bit, if they bind on the acrylic it will crack. I was told to almost melt your way through. Have the acrylic hard down on some wood to avoid binding on the way out. Make any holes that screws are screwing into the playfield "float" through the acrylic.

SL746739.JPGSL746739.JPG
Remember its the head of the screw holding the acrylic not the thread.

I also drilled all the way through for all the holes to avoid any doubt of the screws binding up at the ends.
SL746742.JPGSL746742.JPG

Also the drill used for the screws holding the background image to the acrylic has to be almost the same size as the thread. Only a very very fine amount of thread is to cut its way into the acrylic.

SL746735.JPGSL746735.JPG

Im not sure if this is necessary but it avoids any doubt.
Hope this helps

Quoted from Renouart:

That really does look terrific. Where did you get the image?

Are you referring to me? Its the factory image at the back of the playfield. Its so dark back there no one would even notice. Baffles me that data east made this out of plastic the covered up the back with wood. Ill post soon about lights and power supply

#336 9 years ago

Hey does anyone know if you can get pinballs like these?

The planet one would be cool for JP

#338 9 years ago

No I dont believe they are real but can you get balls like these or similar?

Quoted from MCV:

I am looking for an original Topper for a long time. If I find one the price was extremly high for it. Here are some pictures of my alternative Topper. The six "flames" are made of artificial LED-flames from candles. Hope you like it.

Nice! You need a couple more flames on the top like the movie. Are the exciting flames wired in to the flash lamps youve covered up?

Installed GoodToBeDad's gate mod. Craftmanship is flawless, handpainted and looks so good. Big up on getting one of these. Worth every penny. Thanks again mate.
Photos are taken on cell.

Isnt Stern releasing a Jurassic World Pin? Back on topic, is that Jeep going to fit in replacement of the "Shoot T-Rex when lit" ugly thing?

#560 8 years ago

Thanks thats about right for the gap. Ive bought one of these and am going to paint it. The wheels need changing though. If it looks rubbish Ill just buy the jeep.

Does anyone have/had issues with the T-Rex not going far enough down to eat the ball, picking it up in its teeth and jamming there? It keeps doing this always now and its so anoying. Ive tried to bend his buck teeth in to front but no luck so far..........

#631 8 years ago

Here is my work in progress to a very inexpensive T-Rex teeth mod. I purchased a t-Rex hand puppet in hopes it would magically slip over the existing one but when it arrived I learned it was much bigger than I had thought. So I decided to do this instead. Also before you ask if it eats the ball. So far its about 50% of the time. Still working on that final adjustments.

Quoted from aobrien5:

Lit back panel, lit t-rex saucer, dinos, trees, etc

Thats abit it for mods at this stage right? I mean apart from the anticipated rom update code from CHADH. Oh wait you could paint the legs, side rails and lock down yellow or red!

Quoted from woody24:

Naw. That's the one thing I love about this game. That all the cabinet hardware is black. Not over the top with colors. The artwork is simple, and love the feel of the textured black as well. I like minimal design. And I think that's part of the reason why I love the JP machine. The Lost World machine never had the same feeling for me, and it's because the cabinet is a lighter color, and has a lot more going on.

What about a dark textured red? Never played lost world. Heard its no comparison to the original.

Who on here is reproducing the T-Rex with teeth? I think I saw a comment awhile back with prices around $400. Thanks

I have hooked up a mains sub and it cranks. Love it with the "feed T-rex" mode. Each footstep is so enhanced plus the shaker motor makes it a crowd pleaser

WOW!!! Just got the new rom update a couple weeks ago and holly jamolly is it cool!! Chad has done such a great job, im yet to see if any of the pinball community will notice the difference but I sure do. Dino DNA has never been so good and its now exciting to get Tri-Ball. Thanks also to johnwartjr for shipping the roms out so quickly. I have donated to Chad as well. THIS IS A MUST FOR ANY JP OWNER!! DO IT DO IT NOW!!!
