Has any thought of using the new stern side blades on the DE? I think the fence wire version and trex eyes are pretty cool. I wonder if they would fit and if they would compliment the older version playfield.

Quoted from jorro:Retro refurbs sells these[quoted image]
That is listed as being for Stern. Did it fit the DE ok?
Im having trouble booting after upgrading To 6.0 roms. The machine powers up but the dmd stays blank. the trex test sounds work and then the dmd will list the sound rom but nothing is working. The PIA light stays lit and blanking never lights.
I placed the rom chip with the dot to the right like the board indicates, but im pretty sure the PIA light is indicating a c5 rom error which is the cpu rom i replaced.
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:Are you sure all of the pins are intact on the chip, fully seated, and that you aren't off a row or anything? Maybe some close-up pics where we can see both rows of pins on each chip would help.
Doesnt look to be off but maybe im missing it.

thats who they came from. Im confident that the rom is ok. I will just have to solder in a new IC socket. I think one of those 3 spots is the culprit.
I have a couple quick questions. Im rebuilding the flippers and the manual indicates only the left flipper has an EOS. However, my game has a switch on both lower flippers. First, should I remove the right flipper EOS? Second, Would someone mind checking their machine for the wire colors on the EOS? One flipper has the blue wire on the long leg and the other has the blue on the short leg. Im trying male sure everything is correct.
Quoted from Socashi:Hey everyone, I'm a bit new here and just got a DataEast JP machine a few months ago. After cleaning and replacing worn plastics and other parts I've noticed that when playing the game the left flipper will sometimes stop working. The coil itself will buzz when the left button is pressed but does not seem to do anything else. I've also noticed that if I take the coil off, and re-seat it sometimes it will fix itself but only for a short while.
Another question, Do other people get air-balls when shooting the raptor shot with the ball kickback? My balls sometime seem to fly off over the lane on to the plastics above and sometimes in to the back loop lane.
Thank you
Check EOS switch for good contact. When the switch is open you have only hold voltage. Assuming the switches are still wired in. For the airballs is it when you hit the posts next to raptor pit or the raptor coil sends it airborne?
Quoted from GRB1959:Another thing to consider is adding felt to the sides of the playfield so that you don't inadvertently scratch the side blades when you lift the playfield for any maintenance.
Gord
What I find is not so much the side of the playfield scratching the blades but the playfield pivot arm as you are lowering the field back down likes to hook the top edge of the side art and rip or tear it.
