I'm finally back into the club.. great (underrated) game!
Found a nice original JP that had been in home use/storage for the last 16 years.
It even still had the gold data east decal on the playfield glass.

Mine was missing the backbox key too... Loosened the two screws and I'm in.
Noticed that the lock cam was riveted to the lock? Mostly this is secured with a philips screw or a nut.
I have spare locks but afraid that the screw or nut on the back of the lock will be too long compared to the original total lenght of the lock and will so grind into the wood.
Any insight in this type of data east lock?
ps: correct leg length = 28 1/2 inch?
Starting from what title did this change @ Data East/Sega?
I have the 6.00 and love it. Lot's of shorter games now and I actually started shooting the targets.
Also love the ballsaver light, added samples, balanced modes, ..
So I'm shopping out my JP (finally ) and have very hard standup targets on the right of the popbumpers. Almost impossible to trigger during normal play.
I'm planning to take them out to investigate (from under the playfield) but was wondering, if this is a common issue with an adviced fix?
Indeed, took them out and that was the issue, plastic not aligned with the bracket. And some switch adjustment.
Space is tight overthere though.
The open coin door is probably because your batteries are dead and he has lost it's settings. It wants you to open the door to verify the coin settings, etc...
Quoted from Chalkey:The ball deflector in front of the t rex got loose. I went to screw it in and the screws will not fully fasten as they cannot center on the holes due to the deflector being butted up on the post on the right. The bottoms of all these screws are under the t rex mechanism, and the deflector screws seem like they are somehow captured. Anybody got an easy fix?
Edit: I torqued down on them and they got flush, but then it is binding up t rex's side to side movement somehow (the black "skirt" is clear).
Edit 2: now t rex moves but is slow and stuttering. Oh god what have I done?
You now that there must be 2 spacers below the trex metal . They are grey plastic, think 0,5cm high.
Had seem serious issues on my JP.
Game started to act very weird in middle of game, display garbage, coils random energizing, lamps overbright, starting to boot, etc...
Found out the power supply was only giving me 3V instead of 5V. Hence the CPU acting so weird.
Rebuild all connectors (power connector, gi) and new fuse clips, no change
Changed capacitors C2 en C3 and voila good 5V again.
A lot of fuses got bad on the PPB board. Replaced all of them and everything booted and played ok, unfortunattely didn't notice the raptor kicker was being locked on.. so a burned fuse again but also a melted coil.
Replaced the TIP36 transistor and installed a new coil and game is correct on 50V coils and flippers again.
Other problem:
Column 8 lamps don't work at all anymore except for the one in row 7 (extra ball arrow) and row 8 (smart missile x2).
Found out pretransistor Q56 for the ramp column was shorted and a hot TIP42 main transistor. So now waiting parts and will replace the TIP42, the obvious broken pretransistor and also the ic that drives the columns. All lamp wiring looks ok on column 8. But I think I will have shorted diodes too on those 2 lamps.
But we will see what the transistor replacement does towards the lamp matrix.
How a bad power supply can damage all the rest...
Replacing pretransistor, transistor and driving ic fixed the lamp issues (no bad diodes). Oh and had to replace 7 of the 8 lamps in column 8!
