I think you could make a case for +50 games being the GOAT. I think both of Elwin's games would be in that group. For me Jurassic Park falls a bit short on the artwork. It's not bad, I just prefer Zombie Yeti.
I enjoy, and have been impressed with Keith Elwin's Iron Maiden and Jurassic Park designs so far.
However, to call any game that has been released within the past couple years the "GOAT" seems premature. His 2 games are very impressive NEW games and fun to play. People are still in the honeymoon phase especially with JP2, since the game is still being developed.
However GOAT has a strong link to longevity. (Keith, coincidentally, has been referred to as the GOAT player for a while now because he has dominated the scene for ages.)
The EM/SS/DMD games that people have been fawning over for the past several decades are the actual contenders for GOAT in each respective category. Will people be as in love with Stern's Jurassic Park down the road? Time will tell (literally).
If people still feel the same way about it in 10, 15, 20 years from now, then sure, add it to the list of GOAT contenders.
Looking to trade for a Jurassic Park LE if anyone wants to move one.. Let me know. Thanks!
don't know if it has been said, but what is the time of the ball with this one? it depends on your skills but if i you can make comparisons with other games (woz, twd, ..) i would appreciate. thanks
Obviously too early to tell, but so far I'm always exited to play JP when i'm out. Game has so many ways to approach it and trying to progress is fun, challenging and rewarding. Much like Lyman games where there is some simplicity mixed with complexity and a lot of nuance. Keith gets it and his idea for rules mixed with some really cool layouts makes for instant classics so far. Plus i'm always a sucker for upper flipper shots.
To me JP2 is the best game to date when you take all things into consideration.
By far the best pin I've ever played. The question really is moot however, as how can you question someones subjective point of view. But I can't name a better pin; amazing shots of varying difficulty, very well thought out and challenging rules, love the music and callouts (I'm not a huge JP fan which may be beneficial), it personally has no negatives... besides a few teething mechanical/production issues. Again, I can't think of a better pin.
Certainly a good game but a bit early to call GOAT. I think it is miles ahead of Iron Maiden. In my opinion Maiden play field artwork is bad and overall the game feels ‘cheap’.
"GOAT" can't be used by a single person, it would be his taste/opinion.
"GOAT" is then refered here to an average general opinion about the game. So let time do its work
Quoted from Tranquilize:
Hazoff is a dinosaur, and a grumpy one at that!
Grumpasaurus? you better believe it. I like Dino's, it just didn't click for me in the theme department as a long time keeper. I'll own it again at some point, a Pre next time around. It really is a great game.
