Just joined the club.

There are some cool custom vans in this thread. I intend to replace mine with a die-cast one as well. What I can't see from the pics in this thread is how you guys mounted your replacement vans.

Any tips?

BTW: Do replacement decals for this game exist? My searching has yielded no results.

Are the two flashers on the back of the playfield by the van and toilet supposed to actually have bulbs (and sockets)? Mine seem to be completely missing and I wanted to make sure this was not the norm.

Quoted from TopMoose:

Let us know if there are holes in the back panel behind your domes.

Yeah, there are holes and wires leading to them. Just no bulbs or sockets!

Finally got a chance to see why the flashers were missing. It seems someone removed both the bulb and the twist socket. Was not previously aware twist sockets existed for #906 bulbs. Fun. I know some of you guys must have been losing sleep over this conundrum.

While working on making my shiny new die cast van look like it belonged in a junk yard, I found some paint that turns into actual rust and then you seal it in place.

I had some old beat up legs and thought that maybe it would be an interesting effect on game. I'm waffling after my test results (done in a slapdash manner) and thought I would solicit opinions.

Had some delusions about covering the rails and lockdown bar too.

Thought I would add my newly aged bus photos to the thread. I'm not enamored with it, but still think it's better than stock. The using real rust thing sounds better than it looks.

Now I need to work on some interior lighting.

Depending on condition, $2,500 is a good price for JY. If you look in the market ad archive, you can see all the old ad listings and they show its value normally in the 3k+ range.

I don't know if he still has them, but here is a link for a great mod to replace your broken car surround.

Quoted from Mbecker:

How did other people mount theirs?? Did you modify your metal bracket, mount it higher, or modify your bus to allow the bracket to pass thru inside and mount to roof like the original?

IIRC: My toy van was in two parts; the top metal shell and bottom plastic with the tires. I took the mount out of the game and assembled the van around it. Turned the van upside down, set the JY mount in loose resting against the underside of the top of the van, and then screwed the bottom the van in. The metal of the mount fit in-between the side of the van's bottom and top. Turned it over and stuck it back in the game. Gravity and friction from the mount being wedged held it in place. Worked well.
