Ok, friend gave me project jumping jack. Many cosmetic issues but game starts and plays, mostly. Here are the remaining issues:

SEE NUMBER 3

1)SOLVED(CLEANED UP AND ADJUSTED ALL TUE SWITCH BANKS IN THE HEAD AND RESOLDERED A LOOSE WIRE) can play a 2 player game but will play all of player 1s 3 balls first, then player 2 can play a ball then it goes back to player 1 after just the 1 ball. I have no idea..

2) SOLVED (CLEANED THE HUNDREDS SWITCH BANK)on both player reels the 100s wont advance the 1000s. So from 900 it will just go to 000 upon scoring 100 points. But if i hit the 3000 point shot, the 1000s reel will read 3000 points.

3) if left(red) top out hole is lit the upper most right lane (yellow side)wont score, nor will the left mid rollover lane by top left flipper. But if the yellow out hole on top is lit everything scores correctly.

Thank you for any pointers, i have inspected but not cleaned relay banks I and J and adjusted them to no avail.(pertaining to issue 3)

I think I'd start by looking at the player unit (in the head). Make sure it's moving freely and that the disc contact rivets are clean, and the snowshoe spring-loaded contacts are clean and moving freely. Take that screw in the upper right corner out and tilt the whole unit down so you can get a good look at the switch contacts. Clean and adjust the switch contacts if you need to.

On each of the score reels, there is a group of switches that open and close as the score reels rotate. Sounds like the switch that should close on the hundreds reels when they show "9" isn't closing, so the thousands reels isn't getting a signal to fire. The L relay (1000's) is obviously working, since you can score 3,000 pts. The snippet below will show you which switches to look at - use the wire colors to identify them.

Your cabinet and backglass obviously have some problems, but your playfield and drop targets looks really nice! Shay still makes a backglass for that machine for about $300 if you want to make it pretty. Machine's got some potential!

Thanks for the tips. When it becomea fully functional i plan to get a glass for it and take care of the cabinet.

And this guy has your cabinet stencils.

I bought a Jumping Jack project this year that had a ton of similar issues but I’ve finally got it working 100% now (thanks to help on here) and love it. Luckily the Pinsider I bought it from had recently bought a new backglass for it.

Hope you like it as well when you get it fixed up.

Thanks i hope so too. My first impressions were not good, but as i figure the game out i like it. Ordering glass and stencils tomorrow. Head has been repaired by a fellow pinsider and all was stripped, sanded, primed, sanded, basecoat and then another sand and coat today. Then i will move on to more maintanence and playfield shopping.

Solved a couple issues but cannot figure out the final one. Any ideas? Thanks again to all

Check these make/break switches on the Alternating (A) relay

For a switch to work 3 things are necessary:
1) When open, there should be a small space between the contact points (duh)
2) When closing, the long blade's contact point should push the short blade's contact point enough to move the short blade
3) The contact points should be clean, which they usually will be if #2 is happening

So once i completed a 2 player game with no hiccups. I turned it off, sat and had a victory drink, thought i should take a video of it finally working...this is the video. Game is a stinker...
So before i can address the last previous issue i need to play catch up.

So game mostly functions other than #3. Im hoping to go through and clean and adjust whatever i can and go from there.
Thanks again

Wait for the experts like HowardR who helped me get my Jumping Jack up and running but your newest issue according to the video seems to be that the runout switch on the 2nd player 10s score reel is slightly open and not making good contact. I’m guessing that’s why the score motor is running and game won’t reset.

#11 2 years ago

I’ll be interested to see if it turns out to be a runout switch being open slightly or if the zero position switch on that reel was open before it could reset. Or neither.

Since the 2nd Player Tens score unit doesn't move during reset,
Inspect and diagnose this circuit with Alligator clip jumper wires

I will check that. Its pretty much the last thing needed to get game fully working(#3) that and the player "wheel" in the back needs som more cleaning.

Thank you

Jumping jack fully works, thanks for all the help. Fun game. Just need a back panel/door....
