This is a guess since I no longer own the game or schematic. Many times these alternating features are driven by a switch on the match unit as type relay. On this game, I believe the match relay is advanced by the 100 point relay. Is the match unit advancing? If so, are there any switches on this relay that are opening/closing properly as it advances?

Hopefully someone with the schematic will confirm..
