Jumbo LED display kit v2 (new packages and pricing)

    Added: 2016-09-09 22:00:00 UTC • Re-listed: 1 time (October 24th, 2016) • Ended: July 16th, 2018
    Condition: New (selling multiple, business)

    Price

    $ 475

I thought this would sell out immediately and it didn't so I took another look at my inventory and have decided to offer all the packages. My objective is still to ship all of them by the end of next weekend.

    Common to ALL packages
    - All packages include: LED panels, front and rear acrylic, hardware kit, power extension (~8''), power supply, packaging for shipping, and the first $40 in shipping costs. Shipping significantly beyond $40 will require an additional payment. Most of the previous run came in under $40. Previous runs did not include packaging and shipping which was nearly always about $50 additional.
    Base Components:
    - 1x Acrylic front with drilled holes: Gray tint ~40"x11" (all packages)
    - 1x Acrylic back with drilled holes: Gray tint ~40"x11" (Package 1)
    - 1x Acrylic back with drilled holes: Clear ~40"x16" (Packages 2-5)
    - 2x LED panels either Red or Dual color (Red/Green/Yellow)
    - 1x Hardware kit set (includes spacers, washers, wall hangers, and screws)
    - 1x Run-DMD board with latest firmware and basic SD card image
    - 1x Power supply
    - 1x Power extension - Black (Package 1) or Clear (Packages 2-5)
    - Other package specific components

Jumbo Display v1 Packages and pricing (1 available):
    - Package 1 v1. Base complete display with single color (red) displays: $475 cash or after PayPal fees.

Jumbo Display v2 Packages and pricing (up to 6 available):
    - Package 1 v2. Base complete display with dual color (red/green/yellow) displays: $525 cash or after PayPal fees.
    - Package 2 v2. Base complete display with dual color (red/green/yellow) displays, edge lighting, space for your own etching: $625 cash or after PayPal fees.
    - Package 2 v2 LE. Base complete display with dual color (red/green/yellow) displays, edge lighting, space for your own etching, frame: $650 cash or after PayPal fees.
    - Package 3 v2 LE. Base complete display with dual color (red/green/yellow) displays, edge lighting, remote control, space for your own etching, frame: $675 cash or after PayPal fees.
    - Package 4 v2 LE. Base complete display with dual color (red/green/yellow) displays, edge lighting, remote control, custom etching, frame: $725 cash or after PayPal fees.
    - Package 5 v2 LE. Base complete display with dual color (red/green/yellow) displays, edge lighting, NO remote control, custom etching, frame: $700 cash or after PayPal fees.
    - I will discount pickups in Cumming, GA.

    Changes from the previous run:
    - Since all components are on-site and most are prepped I plan on shipping EVERYTHING by 9/19.
    - Most panels in this run are the dual color rather than just red which materially adds cost for the displays. They run can be set to red, green, or a nice plasma-like yellow. I probably won't be able to do future runs of these dual-color matrix displays since the vendor has discontinued them. Most displays these days are SMD which I personally don't love since the pixels are square and a lot smaller. Big round actually yellow pixels are way better.
    - Some display packages will have a frame that covers the insides. For a look at the prototype frame see this thread. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/run-dmd-jumbo-clocks/page/3#post-3237860. None of the other previous jumbo displays included the frame. The inside of the display was open and visible.
    - The shipping process is being changed. The cost will include the packaging plus I will cover the first $40 in shipping.

    Future runs
    - Hard to say. We shall see how this run goes. For this run I already have a lot of the components onsite so this one is easy decision. For any future runs I will need to re-order most of the expensive components and I'm still undecided whether if it's worth the effort.

Added additional package options. I need this run to sell out.

I've gotten some questions so on the etching so I figured I'd post it here for everyone to see.

This particular project cannot. There is supposed to be a way to do it although I haven't done it. Funny I just got back from Columbia last night. Great town.

    Quick update:
There were 2 takers on this run rather than the 6 I had up for grabs. Those customers are going to get an amazing display.

As you may have seen earlier in this post I did include a couple of more expensive components to make them even better, included shipping to make things easier on me, and a small labor increase to make it worthwhile. Each of these are custom built, custom packaged, are labor intensive, and take a lot of time. Since they did not sell out I've come to the conclusion that it's not feasible to sell them at a price that makes the effort worthwhile so I probably wont make any more after my current supplies are exhausted.. If you are waiting for the next run you are very likely going to be disappointed. There won't be a fire-sale though as I'll put them up at my house and my friends house's before I do that.

I may consider making partial kits in the future but I'm not committing to it.

For those that are interested. Here are a couple of videos of a completed v2 display. All custom built. It came out great.
