Who is the repair guy who charged so much and did so little? I want to make sure I dont use him.
Quoted from sbmania:Who is the repair guy who charged so much and did so little? I want to make sure I dont use him.
I am just writing it off as a bad experience. He had to drive 50 minutes each way so I get that there needs to be a charge for that but I don't see how the time at my dad's working on the jukebox and the travel could add up to $360. Anyway, water under the bridge. But now that I am at it, WTF - What burned me too is that when the jukebox didn't work less than a month later and I called him back, this guy's voice got all excited saying how he would have to charge the same and there was no warranty.....He even put his stickers all over my dad's jukebox with his number to call if the box needed repair. I wouldn't be surprised if he sabotaged that freaking thing to be honest.
Quoted from PM_Jeremy:Nice! Search for Ron Rich - he is one of the keepers of Seeburg knowledge. He's on many forums.
You can find Ron on the FB group Phonoland.com. (For Wurlitzer, the master is RobNYC). It is really amazing how much these guys know.
I have definitely racked/wracked their brains, both Ron Rich and Rob NYC. Unfortunately I have no experience with jukeboxes and I can't really do what they are suggesting. I just really need a local and reasonable repairman who knows what they are doing. If anyone knows someone local to Clifton, NJ please let me know. Thanks, Ant
Hi all- I have a Seeburg HF100R that will play like halfway thru the record then I lose sound- any ideas? seems to happen more the longer the juke is turned on, so wondering if some kind of overload in the amp maybe?
Quoted from Saveleaningtower:Greetings. Hope one of you can help. Here is a picture of my dad's Seeburg V200 that I bought for him around 5 years ago for his 70th birthday. The jukebox was working flawlessly for years until recently when it would not reject a record. I was able to get it to reject with the reject button on the back but eventually that wouldn't work either. So I had a service/repairman fix it and for around 25 minutes he charged my 75 year old dad 360 dollars. When the machine failed again less than a month later, he wouldn't come back to take a look without charging the same astronomical amount so I decided to see if I could figure out the problem with the help of some friends and online groups of collectors like this one.
I love and have had many pinball machines the last 20 years. Unfortunately I know very little about jukeboxes but I am trying to learn. Anyway , here is the new problem and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
After the reject issue was resolved, the player mechanism just stopped responding to a selection. The jukebox powers up fine and everything looks right. I have the black box free play modification which lights the "Make a Selection" light. If I enter a selection, the buttons pop back out as they should but the player mechanism just doesn't move.
Now here is the strange thing - If I toggle the service switch from on to off and back to on, the player mechanism will move and play the record I selected. So the mechanism will do what it is supposed to do but I have to move the service switch to off and back to on.
I have a video of the whole issue and can share it with you if you think you can help and you message me your cell phone number.
Here is what I have done so far
I have taken the free play mod out and reconnected the credit unit. I manually put a credit on the jukebox but the same problem persists so I don't think the issue is with the free play box or the credit unit.
I disconnected and reconnected as many of the connectors as I could to see if perhaps a plug wasn't seated properly. This didn't work but I did not do the two large brown plugs because they gave me a lot of resistance when I tried to pull them out and I didn't want to rip anything apart. I did get some advice on how to squeeze the connector to get it off and will try the next time I am at my father's house.
Please let me know what you think it could be and if you are local to Clifton, NJ and wouldn't mind lending a helping hand, I can get some food and drinks as we work the problem. If you do this for a business and you are local to Northern NJ, let me know what your rates are.
Thanks, Ant[quoted image]
The 2D21 tube at V2 fires the trip solenoid. Try swapping out V2 with one of the other 2D21 tubes and see if that solves the problem. The 2D21 tube at V6 is not used (unless you have wallbox).

Thank you. Will try that the next time I am at my parents house. Ant
I'd highly recommend a jukebox in your home, whether cd or records. We have 3 set up, had two but the third one I'm going to make a "christmas" one that we can roll out at holidays.
Picked up a Rock-ola 446 and a seeburg STD2 Entertainer locally for..... NOTHING! I love free stuff.
Obviously they both didn’t work. Was told the Seeburg worked but stopped after sitting for a year in the garage. Was told the Rock-ola never worked.
Well there’s no way the Seeburg was working lol. Got it running mechanically but no sound. A lot of hacks and cut wires in there. Winter project. It’s the one i want to keep. I need to rebuild the 5-bit controller also and replace a lot of the infinity lighting bulbs.
The Rock-ola mech had been disassembled and then put together incorrectly. Fixed all that. Rebuilt the mech motor. Found all the loose bolts from the previous disassembly. Did a re-cap of the amp. I still have a buzzing sound when things are silent but otherwise all working. When i put a finger on or near the tone arm the buzzing goes away. Seems like a build up of static. However when i put a jumper from the tone arm to a ground lug it buzzes much more.
I dont really like the style of the 446(console) and will put it up on kijiji or craiglist before winter.

Free is good! If you are keeping the Seeburg then change all the infinity lights. The ones you don't change will burn out and drive you nuts

Is that a CD player or a 45rpm record player - I'm guessing it's a OMT? (one more time)

Yes, it's a OMT
It's the 100 disk CD version.

It looks to be in great shape, congrats

Nice! Love the STD series. If you need any parts shoot me a PM. I recently got a vanload of stuff for them from a guy who'd parted out several over the years. Have at least one of pretty much anything used in those jukes.

it is......I can't believe how clean this machine is...inside and out.

The amp is messed up. I will try to fix it but may take you up on your offer if it proves an insurmountable task!
Cheers,
Mike

I love free stuff too, but there is no such thing as a free jukebox. Time, parts and love all have a price. Congrats on the new toys. Building the CD playlist and writing the cards is the hardest part of the CD jukebox.
Quoted from spfxted:This one is pretty cool as it lifts the CD up just like the old ones. With Bose speakers, it sounds great![quoted image]
Nice! I’m a fan of the NSM wall mount CD players. I keep buying them thinking I’m going to use the mech for a project I’m working on but never have the heart to gut them and after keeping for a while before theY go to others who also cherish them.
Suckers are heavier than they look tho.
Keep showing your Rock-ola’s. I think that is my favourite era. Unfortunately mine are all newer . Yours is awesome Tung Chung
I have seen some AMI’s of that vintage around my area in the past. They are nice also. Thanks for sharing your pics with us Toucanf16
You bet it is! Awesome looking Jukes guys. Wish I had a nice old JUKE. Only have an old 408 in the garage, a 464 & a 470 in the game room . Oh and a Wurlitzer Americana! I’m jealous. We don’t have to much older jukes up in central Canada.
Boy does that JUKE look industrial, with the all stainless metal appearance. I’ve only ever seen a couple jukes of that era in person. Your mid 50’s juke looks like it is in awesome condition
I'll throw up a couple more Rockolas. I also have a Rockola 1448 like @belairjoe. I always thought it was a Seeburg R look-a-like! I also have a Rockola 1464 wallmount. This thing is a beast to hang on the wall! There was a floorstand for it back i the day, but I'm still looking for one.

How's the chrome on them?
Quoted from ToucanF16:How's the chrome on them?
Chrome is original on both and very nice but always seems like chrome never photos well! I’ll take them outside in the daylight tomorrow and see if I can get better pictures. Also, both of the wallboxes have the orginal cash boxes which are different for each model.
Quoted from belairjoe:love to get a 1464..hows the sound on that boy?
I’m embarrassed to say, I’ve never turned it on. I want to recap the amp before I do anything with it.
Here’s a good Vimeo video of a restored 1464. It sounds pretty good to me.

That’s a neat looking seeburg ! Wow you guys have neat jukes. Let’s see if we can keep the pics coming
Quoted from PeterG:Not a full jukebox but two wallboxes rebuild with MP3 inside. They work great. Saving for a real jukebox[quoted image]
Could you share how you did that?

Here’s another option. http://www.cdadapter.com/index.htm
They make a setup for your Seeburg Consolette. http://www.cdadapter.com/pcplay.htm
I have their kit in a Rowe/AMi WRF wallbox.
Quoted from Yelobird:A long shot wish but anyone have or know of a Williams Music Mite juke for sale? Seen one restored recently a bit outside my price range but would love to own one some day. To think Williams Almost got into the jukebox lane.[quoted image]
The Ristaucrat S45 is another option that pops up from time to time. It’s a countertop model, but stands are available too. I think it’s easier to locate than a Williams Music Mite. Here’s mine.
527ACC29-08A7-4F49-9A04-15602258F8C2 (resized).jpegMy Wurlitzer 2150. When I got it, it was the standard covered in solidified grease, rodent crap and tons and tons of acorn shells. Must have been a big party destination for the local mouse population. Had to do a ton of work to get it to work. Converted it to use a ceramic/magnetic cartridge given the issues with the old Cobra's also added a crossover and tweeter. Had to redo the cabinets...used a couple of fancy veneers. Tried to keep it in the same 'spirit' as the original. Since this was the 'unblinged' version of the 2100, I also put in led strips (on color change for the bottom straight gold for the general illumination). Lot of work on the amp, actually have two now, one which I fully rebuilt including new pcb all new components from caps to resistors to tube sockets. Pretty happy with the aesthetics and sound.
