Hey All, Im a newbie so please be kind......

Anyhow Im just about to get my first pinball after about 34 years playing.

Im really looking forward to a Judge Dredd pinball that will be comeing to me in tow weeks time.

I am now researching if there is any way to adjust the level of the background music. I would like to keep the sound effects going but ideally I would like to mute the game play music. A problem of being a long term audio/ electronics tech is that im intollerant of the type of music that the machine is gonna play.

If possible I'd like to do this through software but the manual shows no separate adjust of music volume.

Ive seen a forum post which illuded to four different audio streams on the DCS board so maybe a hardware hack is posible.

I would prefer not to have to instal a PROC just for this cause I think then I will be spending a lot of time programing.

Anyhow, please if anyone can help, I will appreciate it very much.

If theres any Pinsiders in Canberra Australia then maybe we could share a few games.

If you don't want the music than you should use something like this:

Not sure if this is possible. The sound and music in a dcs pinball is all compressed data. I don't think it's like old machines that had separate music and speech roms, but I could be wrong. Fundamentally, music is a huge part of the modern pinball gaming experience with the way it changes for different modes and multi-ball. Just my opinion, but I Suggest you give it a shot with the music before you get into board hacks and reprogramming, which would only devalue your machine.

Yeah I was thinking without a PROC it would be nigh on impossible and after more research I'm convinced.

Thanks for tips on the earplugs, I don't wanna kill all the sound just the repeated hard rock. It was great when it was the 80s but I'm not into it any more.

I think I might just end up turning the machine volume down and cranking my own tunes.

Thanks for the input fellas!

We have been developping a solution to the pinball's sounds issues, have a look on www.pinsound.org, I think it is way easier than a P-ROC mod.
