My JD started blowing the F116 (3a SB). When I first discovered it the crane had come loose from it's mount and was laying on the ramp next to deadworld. Replaced the fuse and it blew at some point later (so i'm guessing a short in the crane assembly).

Came in to work on it today, disconnected J116-118 and replaced the fuse and was planning on reconnecting just the motor jumper and running crane/deadworld motor tests to see if the fuse tripped again but before doing so I tested voltage at F116 and was only getting 9V.

Suggestions welcome for troubleshooting.

Nothing is connected to 116-118

I will test it monday. Any other test suggestions for then I'm all ears.

Assuming I need to change BR5 out I should do the corresponding cap as well right? I imagine that it's already been changed as there was a tag on the F116 fuse from Chris Hibler

I'm finally going to break my Hakko out of the box!

So I'm wondering (and will find out after I get the unregulated 12v corrected) if the crane popping loose was just a correlation and not a causation for the F116 fuse blowing. Is a failing BR under voltage issue causing the fuse blow as I noticed over the past couple weeks periodic week flippers (probably undervoltage to the optos)

I'm new to pin repair, reading alot trying to sort my way through issues. Does the above make sense?

TP1 16.06V
TP2 5V
TP3 12.2V
TP6 75V
TP7 22.4V
TP8 17.6V

I only have 8-9V at F116 (shouldn't I be getting the same reading as the unregulated 12v power supply at F116?)

I didn't test at the connectors.

I inspected the wiring to the crane and could not find any wear points. I reconnected everything but left the crane disconnected and powered the machine on to see if the fuse blows. I'll just go through process of elimination for the monent and figure out which connector is tripping the fuse.

Put my DMM in place of the fuse and played a dozen games and the DMM never went over 1.7A. I did notice that the left coin switch wires were pinned in the door though?
